New single ‘Business is Business’ highlights
Dank Luciano’s one-of-a-kind sound and style

AIKEN, SC – Isaiah Sharief Russell, known professionally as Dank Luciano, is a U.S.-based rapper and songwriter from Aiken, South Carolina, who’s approach to hip-hop is turning heads all along the East Coast.

Born in Far Rockaway, New York, but raised in South Carolina, this up-and-coming artist has been chasing his dream to be an influential musician since the age of 15. His first single, “Hibachi,” gained recognition throughout the streets and brought him to the attention of XRO Studios. Following the success of that single, he’s released the follow-up song “Business is Business” under the XRO Studios label.

“It’s a song that was kind of inspired by Biggie Small’s ’10 Crack Commandments,’” he said. “It’s about how you conduct business in your town, or when you’re serving time somewhere, or whatever you’re doing. It’s about the struggle of having to sell dope or do whatever you have to do to make money, and so if you’re gonna do it then this is how you do it. I think of it as the blueprint or the handbook of the trap house. It’s a definite anywhere song that you can play in the club, or on the radio, or just to kick back to at a cookout with the neighborhood. And it has an upbeat tempo that makes you constantly nod your head.”

Dank said “Business is Business” is a great example of the kind of music he hopes to be known for throughout his career. He raps about the struggle and poverty, because that’s his reality. He raps about what inspires him about life, and makes music that he said “tells the story of my people.”

“I tell the story of the street, the story of the street, the story of poverty,” he said. “You might be someone who has been on welfare or has food stamps, but you don’t want to talk about it because you’re embarrassed. I come in as the voice of the people. I want to be known as the one who told the story for the people the whole time. I want my legacy to be like the one who took a similar situation that someone else is in and turned into something prosperous.”

Dank said part of what makes fans love his unique sound is the “weird harmony” that he accompanies with his raps. He has some melodic music that he learned how to perfect while he spent time in prison, and he loves to employ that sound in surprising ways throughout his songwriting.

“My sound is one that isn’t like any other,” he said. “I have a unique sound and unique way of telling my side of the story. The way I say things is totally different than the way you say things. My point of view and my style separate me from anyone else in the game because of the way I think and the way I choose to express the way I think. I also want to be known as the dude who touched every genre.”

In addition to the release of “Business is Business,” Dank Luciano is working on an EP that’s part of an artist collective under the XRO Studios label. He said the EP is slated to drop sometime this summer.

Money Motivator uses natural talent with lyricism
to inspire people to pursue a higher lifestyle

HOUSTON, TX – Money Motivator isn’t your typical street-raised rapper. He’s not a hard-core “dope boy,” and he has embraced a lifestyle of violence and drugs like so many others from the streets claim to do. He makes music for the streets, and was raised from the midst of that difficult lifestyle, but he paid attention to the real OGs and drug dealers from the generation before him, and he took their lessons to heart.

“I learned from them when they said to stay away from it,” he said, nodding to some of the legends he has always loved listening to, such as Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Geto Boys, T.I., Ice Cube and more. “Most rappers come from the streets nowadays, or say they come from it, and do things that they regret. I’m not this guy. I’m just a guy who’s gonna make songs that make you want to dance. I can make you relate to what I’m talking about without encouraging you to live that bad lifestyle. I’m gonna motivate you to get money and raise a family and do all the things to keep you out of that lifestyle – all of the same things that the generation before me said that motivated me to stay out of that lifestyle. I’m gonna dance my ass off while still motivating others, because music gives me peace. I use music as therapy, and I just want to get my music out to give others peace, too.”

Toward that end, Money Motivator has released his first EP, a six-song project called “Past Transactions.” As a proud member of the cannabis community, Money Motivator said many of his songs refer to that and will explore stories born from moments influenced by weed. But more than that, the songs talks about the things from his past that have molded him into the artist he is today. His father was an artist with Rap-A-Lot Records and he was on Willie D’s album “Play Wit’cha Momma”. The track is called “U Got Homeboys, We Got Homeboys”. This gave him an early education on the ins and outs of the music industry. But the industry destroyed his father, and he turned to drugs for a release from that pain. Instead of following in his father’s footsteps, Money Motivator used all the pain he saw in his father and put it into his own poetry, spoken word and eventually music.

“I could always rhyme and I always had a vocabulary that was different, so I tended to stand out,” he said. “But I never wanted to be the center of attention because I was so worried it would destroy me like it did my father. But at parties when people would kick back and just have fun with a freestyle circle or something, any time I would jump in people would tell me that sound and style is what they’re missing – true lyrics. So I kind of sat back and realized it was a shame that I didn’t use my lyrical ability. It’s crazy to be good at it and not do it. So I just started doing it, and then someone invested in me and things have taken off.”

As “Past Transactions” gains momentum and is starting to see some major success, Money Motivator said he’s already hard at work on follow-up projects. He’s hoping to capture the same magic that he grabbed with his single “Smoker Joker,” which is the talk of the South right now. He has a mixtape in the works, which he plans to call “Past Transactions 1.5,” and then will follow that up with another EP later this year called “Past Transactions 2.”

Yung Boi Fresh overcomes life-and-death situation by launching new EP and music label

LAS VEGAS, NV – Dec. 28, 2015 was a life-changing moment for Courvoisier Carson.

Known professionally as Yung Boi Fresh, this young artist from the Bay Area of California was the victim of a violent shooting in San Francisco. He lost seven pints of blood and was on life support. Doctors told his mother that he probably wouldn’t make it … but he survived against all odds.

The experience was a motivational moment in his life, and he knew that it was time for him to follow his dream to make meaningful, heart-felt music. But first, he took a vacation to Las Vegas. While there, he began to envision himself performing under the bright lights and realizing his dream in big ways. It was such a powerful vision that he chose to relocate to Las Vegas and quickly began to pursue a career in music. He created his company, Yungstar Entertainment, and completed his first EP “Cold Summer/Hot Winter,” which is set to drop on March 8.

“With this project, I’ve created a wave called trap soul,” Yung Boi Fresh said. “I came from the bottom and this EP is all from my heart. It’s me showing off my own pattern of music while telling you what I’ve been through and grown up around. My sound is unorthodox – that’s the best way to explain it. When I say trap soul, it’s like a New Orleans bounce with a Bay Area dance feel, with a little bit of Philly thrown in. I’m gassing the beat and putting my heart and soul and feeling into it.”

Yung Boi Fresh started getting into music at age 18. He and his younger brothers grew up around Bay Area legends like Uno and Lil B. But instead of following in their footsteps, Yung Boi knew he had to do something different to make a name for him. So he started building a fan-base instead of a name – hosting events and serving as an emcee for some of the biggest DJs along the West Coast. Eventually, people began to reach out to him to host gigs and his name began to take off.

Along the way, he has developed a sound and style that has become well-known throughout his area. He’s also known for being an artist who encourages others to enjoy life, have fun and just be who they are and stop worrying about what other people think.

“Stop trying to live your life for somebody,” he said. “Be that great person you created yourself to be. My family has been the support system for me going harder in the music. They’re a real inspiration to me. People like Mac Dre and Kilo and Mr. Fab and Laroo and Mindmotion and IAmSu – those people have been so supportive of my craft and helping me find my own lane. And I want to encourage other people that way, too.”

Yung Boi said he hopes to eventually land more artists under his label and to really branch out in other ways within the music and entertainment industry. Until then, he said he’s eager for his new EP to get out to more listeners. The first single, “One Time,” is already out and ready for people to enjoy. He describes it as an R&B soul vibe that serves as a statement piece to the world that this is who he is and this is the kind of music you can expect from him going forward.

Silk Young brings fresh take on neo-soul
with new singles ‘Day Dream’ and ‘Call Me’

LOS ANGELES, CA – Silk Young may be the newest voice on the block, but she is no stranger to music. Born of Nigerian descent and raised in Houston, Young has always had a knack for singing and dancing. In fact, it was dancing that brought her to Los Angeles in 2018. As a professional choreographer, she was scouting for dancers for a few of her clients. Along the way, her natural love and talent for making music took over and she found herself longing to make more and more songs.

In her words, “the music ended up finding me.”

“I play flute, among other instruments, and I got into a studio with a producer who needed a flute on a couple of beats he had done,” she explains. “When we were done I asked him if he worked on artist development. Little did I know that I didn’t really need any development. I’ve had a natural knack for writing ever since I was a kid – which has prepared me for songwriting. So when he played me the beat that first day for what would become my first single ‘Daydream,’ I sat down and wrote the song in 30 minutes. We put down a demo version, and I just couldn’t stop. I was in the studio three times a week, and after two weeks we had 13 songs. He asked me if I wanted to do this for real – to make a career out of it – and I said, ‘Hell yeah!’ I feel like I’m making some of the best music I’ve ever heard over the last decade. The sound is so seasoned and refined and organic, all in one. You couldn’t even name one artist who, at such an early stage, has been able to produce such a unique sound. It’s ahead of its time, but it also takes you back to that good feel when there was good soul on the radio.”

Silk Young may have only just begun her musical journey, but her sound is already seasoned nearly to perfection. Her voice has a deep richness to it, reminiscent of Toni Braxton. And her rapping style has hints of Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu. She brings a fresh take on R&B in a way that will open new lanes for today’s music. Her raw talent and easy vibe combine into one artist who will be hard to forget.

Her first single, “Day Dreams,” was released Feb. 12 and is already getting rave reviews. It has a nostalgic vibe to it, with sounds that throwback to late 80s and early 90s soul. The melody is simultaneously fresh and refreshing. True to her flute roots, the song has some jazz influences, with a strong bass-line throughout.

“it’s a song about that lover, current or ex, who you can’t get out of your head,” Young said. “It starts out as being a daydream, but it keeps you up at night – you’re always drifting off into thoughts about that person, and they’re always on your mind.”

Young follows that up with her second single, “Call Me,” released on March 1. It’s a funky new take on neo-soul, with vibes reminiscent of D’Angelo or Voodoo. Fans who hear this song will recognize that Silk Young is on a mission to carve out her own lane.

“There’s nothing like it on the airwaves right now,” she said. “It’s such a refreshing sound. Whether you’re an R&B or a neo-soul lover, or a jazz lover, it’s gonna be a song that’s super nostalgic and will take you back – but with a fresh take on it. I’m carving out my own lane and trying to stay away from what’s current and going on in R&B right now. I’m creating my own space.”

Young will round out her trio of new releases with a third single called “Down To Ride,” sometime before the end of March. She said she’s also hard at work putting the finishing touches on a full album that she plans to drop by June.
