BabyChuckii – Family

Baby Chuckii inspires others through transparent truth on hot new single ‘Family’

ATLANTA, GA – Claudel Fabien has never had the kind of family life that most would call ideal. At age 13 his mother passed away, and on the day of her funeral his dad kicked him out of the house. He remained homeless for a little more than a year before his best friend took him in. He has two sisters and a brother who don’t talk to him, and on the random times he would interact with his father in his teenager years it was contentious, at best. Essentially, he grew up without a family and had to learn to fend for himself and do whatever he had to do to survive.

That’s the story he weaves with clever-but-aggressive wordplay on his latest single “Family,” which is currently available across all streaming platforms. Operating under the stage name Baby Chuckii – a name given to him in elementary school when he was dared by another student to stab someone with a pencil … and he did – this up-and-coming Southern rapper has a pocket full of stories and a determination to succeed in the industry. With those two things combined, he’s on a mission to make music that inspires other people to push through any hardship to achieve the dreams they have for themselves.

“Everybody has a story,” Baby Chuckii said. “Everybody came from somewhere and has their story to tell. What sets me apart is that I can’t rap about nothing else but that. Other rappers usually tell their stories and then drift off into other realms of rap. I can’t do that because there’s just too much of a story to tell. This first song, ‘Family,’ is just the tip of the iceberg for me. It’s the beginning of what happened with me in life, and it’s all truth.”

Inspired by artists like Lil Baby, Rod Wave, and NBA YoungBoy, Baby Chuckii has developed a sound and style that is all his own. He has a distinct cadence, and the raw edge of his delivery definitely captures the tension that permeates his life while also building energy from which listeners all over the world can draw. But more than anything, he makes music that shares raw, unaltered truth.

“I really want people to hear it and know that the struggle is not everlasting,” he said. “That’s why my label is called Mind Over Matter. I came from the deepest part of hell and I made it out. I want everyone to know that no matter what the issue is or problem is, it’s not forever. The storm comes and then the sun comes back out. At one point in my life I thought it was over. People thought I would die before I turned 21, or end up in prison. Thank God those things didn’t happen to me. And I want people to see my story and to know that no matter the odds that are stacked up against you, there’s nothing out of your control to change your circumstances.”

In addition to “Family,” Baby Chuckii said he has another single called “On My Block” that should drop later this summer. To listen to his music, or to follow him on social media, please visit the following links:

Big Joko – Blicky Blicky

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Midwest rapper Big Joko drops fun new single ‘Blicky Blicky’

CHICAGO, IL – A fun, catchy song with a nice little bap to it is making its rounds through the Midwest on its way to international notoriety. “Blicky Blicky” is the latest hit single from Chicago-based artist Big Joko. But unlike most of the Drill music coming out of Chicago, Big Joko’s sound is completely different than every other rapper from that town. In fact, he tries to stay as far away from that music scene as possible so that he can stand out from the crowd. His main goal is to create songs that with catchy hooks that will get stuck in listeners’ heads – and that’s exactly what he’s accomplished with “Blicky Blicky.”

“It’s such a catchy song that it made it to radio here in Chicago without any kind of promotion or anything,” he said. “Now it’s made its way down to Atlanta and North Carolina and all over the South. The YouTube video is climbing closer to 100,000 views. People are loving it!”

Big Joko said the term “Blicky Blicky” is new street lingo used to refer to a weapon, and he’s using the song to draw attention to the violence and problem with guns throughout Chicago. While the song is a fun and upbeat vibe, he’s using it as a way to draw attention to a problem that he said needs to be fixed. And like his favorite artists Lil Wayne and Cassidy, he wants to use great music to inspire and motivate the masses.

“I want to be respected as a great artist,” he said. “I’m very creative. When people hear my shit I’m looking for a certain reaction – a smile or a head nod or an ‘Oooh!’ When you talk about great rappers and artists with bars who could make any type of hit or get on anybody’s song and kill it and deliver it, I hope they talk about me in that same breath.”

Big Joko said he first started rapping when he was 8 years old after hearing Lil BowWow for the first time. He said he was impressed that someone who was only 11 years old could make a song that became so popular, and it convinced him that he, too, could make good music even at a young age. He went home and wrote his first rap, and it has only elevated from there over the past decade-plus of making music. With help from his cousin – who was a member of the notorious Chicago group 3Piece – he learned the ins-and-outs of the industry and worked hard to develop his unique sound and style. Today he’s become known as a hit-maker, and his music is spreading beyond just the Midwest into all parts of the globe.

Following “Blicky Blicky,” Big Joko said he’s developing a full project that he hopes to release later this year. He also has a new single called “Cha Cha” that taps into a Reggae vibe that should drop in July.

The Artist 9 – Smile

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

The Artist 9 Lifts Our Collective Spirit With New Single “Smile”

With his bright, upbeat new single, The Artist 9 makes us all “Smile.” The song’s smooth percussion helps ring in the spring season. As COVID restrictions come down, “Smile” serves as a welcome transition back to the outside world. “And I said hey,” sings the Artist 9. “Them problems gon go away/I promise girl it’s okay/I wanna see you smile.”

But The Artist 9 has many more cards in his hands. He expressed pride in another new track, “My Boo.” “That was really catchy,” said The Artist 9. “It’s got a fast-paced beat to it, and it has a different sound to it. It’s a good song for people to drive and listen to. All good energy.”

The Artist 9’s manager and business partner, Lavale Byrd, emphasized his passion for “My Boo.” “That track is hot,” said Lavale. “It’s gonna be a banger. The sound is pure originality. There’s no Autotune on it or anything like that. ‘Smile’ is the music that a lot of audiences are looking for.”

The Artist 9 refuses to be classified or have his craft isolated within a single genre. “The Artist 9 doesn’t make trap music because he’s not a trap guy,” Lavale explained. “He’s a college kid. We don’t have time for flashy. We’re trying to open up an avenue for people. Whether there’s somebody that’s 65 or 15, we want them to hear it and understand it.”

Another important element of The Artist 9’s music is his willingness to look closely at tragedy. 9’s song “See Me Blow” mourns the loss of a dear friend who passed too early. “His name was Derek,” remembered The Artist 9. “He was killed in a motorcycle accident a couple of years back. It didn’t just affect me. It affected everyone around me.” “See Me Blow” finds The Artist 9 reflecting on the fragility of life. “I stay alert,” he explained. “I stay watching around.”

Fans of The Artist 9’s work should pay attention. He gave some details of his upcoming album release. “My World will be the name of the next project to drop,” said The Artist 9. “It’s just gonna be me giving you all these different sides, or places that I’m in when I made these songs. That’s what I want to go for as an artist.”

Committed to diversifying his sound, The Artist 9 assured fans that they should never expect him to be comfortable with a single musical style. “You’re never going to get one type of music from me,” vowed The Artist 9. “Because I feel like I’m not one type of person. I feel like everybody has moments where they want to open up. Moments when they want to be hype. So I speak for the unspoken.”

The Artist 9’s music comes courtesy of Lavale Byrd and Kloud 9 Records, an independent record label located in northern Alabama. “The Artist 9 will be the first mainstream artist to come out of this area,” proclaimed Lavale. “We stay humble, we stay focused. And we make dreams a reality.”

Big-T the Mayor – Shake That

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Club-ready dance vibe ‘Shake That’ drops just in time for the summer from hip-hop veteran Big-T The Mayor

ATLANTA, GA – Big-T The Mayor is a name that’s been familiar to music industry insiders for many years, but which many music lovers haven’t heard. He’s one of the best veterans of the game, working with other notorious artists on smash hits that peaked at No 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified two-times platinum. He’s been a hype man for the County Boyz, and performed many live shows with them before branching off on his own to create his label 3 Way Entertainment South. It’s a label that embraces the three things he said every good artist needs to make it in this industry: money, power and respect. Those three things are always represented through his music, and the music of the artists he has signed to the label.

Today Big-T The Mayor continues to make amazing music, and his most recent single “Shake That” is the perfect song for women to dance to this summer. The bass-driven club vibe features Atlanta legend Raheem The Dream, and is one of those songs that doesn’t have any kind of agenda other than to give people a good time.

“A lot of times my lyrics have something deeper to talk about, but I’m also just somebody cool who can give you a good time,” Big-T said. “I just want my music to stand out above others. I want people to appreciate the good music and the hard-driving bass. It’s something you can relate to, but it’s also something you can just put the top back on your car and ride to. Just drink the drink and see what you can see and have some good times.”

Most of Big T’s career has been about setting himself apart from the rest of the crowd. As he branched off from the County Boyz, he set out to follow a similar path Luther Cambell took when he first emerged on the scene. With fast-paced, bass-driven 808s and raw, sexually explicit lyrics, he set his mark in the Atlanta area and 3 Way Entertainment South started making a name for itself. Today the label represents two artists. Big-T The Mayor is currently in the studio working with multi-platinum producer Phenk Dawg, who produced the song “A BayBay for Hurucain Chris,” and “Do the Ratchet” by Boosie.

Big-T said he has a bigger project planned for later this year that he knows fans will be excited about, and that he’s looking forward to introducing 3 Way Entertainment South’s talent to the masses.

OTF Bombay Bugzbe – Free Smoke

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

OTF Bombay Bugzbe brings bouncy vibes to the summer with new single ‘Free Smoke’

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Black Puerto Rican is on the scene with a brand new album and a hot new single that is ready to set the summer on fire. OTF Bombay Bugzbe has just dropped his new album “La Boriquen Negrito” (The Black Puerto Rican), and already fans and industry insiders are giving it quite a bit of praise. With a mix of old-school hip-hop and new-school vibes, OTF Bombay brings a unique rap style that hasn’t ever been heard in the game before. As he talks about his influences and his journey from Chicago to LA, he offers a transparent introduction to who he is and what he brings with his music. It’s an album that not only establishes his talent as an artist, but also shows the world a serious entertainer who is in it for the long-haul.

The summer-ready first single from the album is “Free Smoke,” which is currently available across all streaming platforms. It’s a bouncy jam that will have people up on their feet and vibing over the next few months. Whether out on the beach, cruising down the street or just hanging at home with friends, this is the kind of song that is perfect for any occasion.

“I’m passing out free smoke,” OTF Bombay said. “Everybody wants to contact me because I got free weed. That’s what this song is about. If you got problems, you can come to me and I’ll help you out. It’s a song that shows off my style. The way my accent is and the way I speak and rap is like no one you’ve ever heard. You can’t compare me to anyone else.”

Bombay Bugzbe said he first started rapping as a child when he was influenced by a friend from school. He was always a shy person as a child, but the friend encourages him to freestyle one day and it was such an enjoyable experience that he never looked back. He started spending his evenings writing verses, and as he’d share those rhymes with his friends they would be extremely encouraging of his natural gift. Eventually he moved to California to attend art school, and graduated with a degree in music production. Today he puts those experiences and training to work as a recording artist, and he’s excited for the world to check out what he has to offer by way of entertainment.

“I hope people see me as someone who never lost track of the vision I wanted to accomplish,” he said. “I also hope I inspire a lot of other people to do the same thing. Pursue what you have in your heart to do. I want to be that kind of big influence, and I’m just taking it one step at a time.”

Following “La Boriquen Negrito,” Bombay said he’s got a single he’s developing with Philly Young Mel called “Yerky Hours,” which is set to release sometime this summer. He also has a single called “Insidious” that he’s collaborating on with the artist I WEST WEST, which should also drop before the end of the summer.

Lyrico Godchild – Only You

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Videos

Love, respect and unity take center stage on new single from Lyrico Godchild

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Augustine Kiawu has the kind of second-chance redemption story that most people only dream of.

Better known as the artist Lyrico Godchild, this Liberian-born multi-talented musician came to the U.S. in 2002 and lived in Maryland and Philadelphia, where he met a couple of African and Black American rappers. After a couple freestyle sessions, he was given the name Lyrico and he hasn’t looked back since. But he got into trouble around this time, as well, and was arrested and charged with a crime that would have resulted with him serving 40 years in jail if the judge had found him guilty. But while serving time at the Buck County Correctional Facility, Lyrico said he had a powerful vision from God that instructed him to accept Jesus as the son of God and as his personal Lord and Savior. Moreover, he said God told him that if he did this and obeyed Him, he would bless his legal fight and take him from jail, transforming his life in ways far beyond he could ever imagine. Lyrico accepted Jesus and told God that he’d service him with his unique gifts, talents, and abilities to the best of his abilities.

After three months in jail, Lyico was released on bail. And in July 2010 and all charges were dropped, as God had promised. Since then, Lyrico has changed his life and decided to use his gifts to do God’s work. He’s become a minister and serves as the lead prophet and pastor at House of Prayer Ministry. He found a wife and the two of them have three children. And he’s now using his Gospel rap talents to spread God’s Word to others around the world – helping them to believe in the same hope and salvation that he has experienced in his own life.

“I’m not rapping about what I heard from people, or preachers, or not only what I read in the Bible, per se,” he said. “I’m rapping about personal experiences and my one-on-one encounter with God. I’m rapping about the street life – the dark side – and its opposite, the light of God and Christianity. This is me and this is my life and that’s what makes me stand out.”

Lyrico’s latest single, “Only You,” is the perfect example of how he uses music to serve as a testimony to the world. Calling it one of his “most special” songs, it’s a jam that he said was given to him by God while he was in jail.

“God said I will take you from jail and make you a free man,” Lyrico said. “He said I will bless you in ways you wouldn’t even dream of. That transformation started, and my ministry started, in jail. The Holy Spirit was revealing deep things to me. And I’ve been using this gift to build platforms to spread the Gospel ever since. This song is a testimony that it was only God who delivered me from that life and from jail. I hope people remember me as an artist who revealed the power of God, and who he is. I’m not just a Christian hip-hop artist – I’m a God-fearing, Christian artist. Music is just one piece of the pie for me when it comes to my ministry. Ultimately what I stand for is love, respect and unity.”

Lyrico said in addition to “Only You,” he’s also hard at work on developing a full album called “From the Streets to the Pulpit,” which should drop later this year.

Dijellza – Pink Jacket

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Dijellza Ajdini Celebrates Love’s Breathless Moments in Dance-Pop Gem “Pink Jacket”

(Chapel Hill, NC)

For Dijellza Ajdini, music has always been an empowering force, one that lets her encapsulate the feeling of a moment into a three-minute pop song. In her new single, “Pink Jacket,” a romantic memory becomes a bouncy, breathless, seeming effortless piece of ear candy.

Set to a beat both sensual and urgent, “Pink Jacket” makes use of cello accents, twinkling flourishes, and moments when the beat drops out, leaving only Ajdini’s voice. In the space of one song, she showcases multiple facets of her vocals, alternately sounding breezy, ethereal, or just like one friend speaking to another. The lyrics celebrate a turn towards hopefulness. “I was never the type to believe in love; I was always the type to push and shove,” she sings. The rest of the lyrics celebrate snapshots of an encounter—“hands on my waist, hands on my face,” she repeats, building anticipation for what’s to come.

“I wrote the song in August of last year. It’s about a boy. He had hazel eyes and always wore a pink jacket. The song channels how I felt in the moment–very loved and appreciated for who I was,” she remembers.  Though Ajdini often co-writes with her brother, Ben, she wrote “Pink Jacket” by herself, feeling an instant connection with the song.

The song’s video, inspired by Harry Potter, centers around a magic potion. The fanciful nature seems right at home with the song’s theme of being under the spell of love. Set in a high school classroom, the video also features dialogue written by Adjini’s brother, as well as the appearance of a mystery woman.

Growing up surrounded by music in her Albanian family, the singer gravitated towards mainstream pop artists from a young age. The music of Selena Gomez, in particular, was another kind of magic potion. Ajdini grew up with Gomez’s music, saying, “Since I was a child, I’ve always felt connected with and inspired by her music. She has this song called ‘Who Says’ that I used to sing when I was seven and pretending to be onstage. She made powerful speeches about positive things. I was a child and they still affected me and lifted me up.”

Those role models helped carry Ajdini here, making highly relatable pop-R&B music with an uplifting spirit. “The one message I always try to spread is to love yourself first. Beauty is within all of us, but beautiful things take time to blossom,” she says. The metaphor of transformation is especially close to her as she prepares to release her debut EP, Butterflies, out May 17, 2021.

To the singer, butterflies represent freedom as well metamorphosis, symbolism which inspired her EP. “It’s about letting go. I conceptualize each song as a butterfly. I take the baggage and trauma I’ve had and transform it into a butterfly,” she explains, adding a touch of serendipity to the theme. “I was on set of a video. The director noticed that a monarch butterfly flew in as we were talking about the EP.”

“Pink Jacket” will be available on all streaming platforms on May 10, 2021.
Butterflies will be out on May 17, 2021.

Lejetski – Univers ++ Banger

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

French rapper Lejetski melds spirituality with heart and soul of hip-hop on energetic debut single

PARIS, FRANCE – Spirituality meets hip-hop and rap with upbeat vibes on new music from Parisian artist Lejetski, co-founder of the label French Slime Rich with Issa Smith. With a punchy vibe filled with lots of energy ready to get fans all over the world turnt up, this 20-year-old artist’s fresh new sound is paving the way for a whole new niche within the hip-hop genre. His latest single “Univers ++ Banger” is his introduction to the world, and brings to light his mission to bring spirituality to the world of hip-hop and rap. It’s his debut single – and when it comes to debuts, this is one of the most outstanding to hit the music industry in a long time.

Lejetski is a young French rapper who moved to Paris in 2019 to discover his voice as an artist in the midst of the budding French rap scene. Freestyling on the streets and posting videos on social media led him to clip and record his first songs, which went viral and created a strong fanbase for this new sound he’s introducing to the world. It’s a new wave he claims to break – something crazy and spontaneous but also natural and familiar. It’s a sound that’s hard to pinpoint and label, but which is immediately attractive to anyone who hears it.

“I want to be one of the precursors of this sound,” Lejetski said. “I want to be one of the first to bring that level of spirituality to the world of hip-hop and rap. We are shifting into a new world, and I think I’m one of the new artists who is going to help bring that shift about to the world. I’m introducing a new culture through spiritual trap – Spiritrap!”

Lejetski said he is not confined to a particular style because he is inspired by all genres of music – from Metal to Classical – and that he has no barriers. The more he has studied, the more he has realized that rap had really become more elevated over the years. He saw that many artists were tapping into lyrics that were deeply philosophical, but he wanted to push even further into spiritual realms. He said he’s always been a person who brings good energy with his music, and the idea of intentionally creating a new sound that pairs spiritual lyrics and vibes with the heart-and-soul of hip-hop just seemed to make sense.

“You can hear it immediately in my lyrics and in my personality,” he said. “You can even see it with the cover art for my music – the meditative images. I want to share my good energy with the world and to inspire people to do what they love. I started experimenting and it grew over time to become something more important to me. Now it’s the main thing that I do.”

Lejetski said he’s on a mission to become the next big international artist, and he’s excited to represent France and the progressive music that’s coming out of his home country. Alongside French Slime Rich, he aims to represent French rap and spirituality, with many other artists among his community set to join the international wave of new music. In addition to “Univers ++ Banger” – which is currently available on Soundcloud and has reached 100,000 streams in less than two weeks – he’s also working on an album that he hopes to drop before the end of the year.
