ONAJE’ – SirVivor

Promo
Jeremiah Onaje’ McCormick, born and raised in New Orleans, LA. The 10th born son of a family of 13. I was introduced to hip hop at age 8 by older brother and rap artist Percy aka 9th Ward Perseus. The very first song I memorized was “Scarface” off Geto Boys sophomore lp which played on the radio often. However, Perseus was my favorite rapper. I wrote my first rap verse at 13. I recited the rap to my older brother Perseus. Once I got his approval of the verse being “fire” I continued to write and create and I never looked back.

This was song was released Dec 22, 2022. The video debuted on Feb 3rd and debuted on World Star Hip Hop on Feb 8th
The songs angle is to influence the listener to continue through what ever tough time they are in. Not your average rainy day, I’m talking devastation,…heartbreak, near mental breakdown…homelessness,…the loss of a loved one….suicide attempts due to life’s pressure…near death experience. This song may not be for everyone….YET…being that you have to keep living and this song will become relatable. However, in the verses I rap about my personal experiences as an artist.

The reason I chose to release this song near the end of one year and the start of another, is because as a whole, people everywhere has gone through unusually tough times since the start of COVID-19 and its lasting affects. Not to mention, inflation, police brutality towards blacks, black on black crime, and the dumbed down overall substances of today’s hip hop/rap music. I felt a positive message of perseverance was needed at this time.
My music is for everyone. However, being a black male in America, I have special assignment to break the unhealthy cycle that my people continue to repeat.

ZAYTOVEN TEAMS UP WITH BIG TRILL TO LAUNCH NEW LABEL

Promo

Zaytoven has just announced he has launched his very own record label called ZTP alongside music executive Big Trill and theyā€™re calling out to all creatives.

On Tuesday (December 20), Zaytoven took to his Instagram account with the announcement by sharing a photo of himself and Trill posing for the camera. In his caption, Zay revealed the name of his new label and the plan he has to see the company grow.

ā€œWe are Blessed to announce that ā€˜ZTPā€™ The Label is official,ā€ Zaytoven captioned his post. ā€œMe and @therealbigtrill are officially a label. We are SIGNING artist, producers, song writers, DJs, all brands. we are looking for a real team a solid team. Searching for all talent in every city, every state, every town!!!! Letā€™s get to work.ā€

Thereā€™s no other word on the label and if any artists are signed already.

This isnā€™t Zaytovenā€™s first label, as he has Zaytoven Global, LLC under his belt, and heā€™s one of many producers with their own record label. Other beatsmiths with their own imprint include Hit-Boy with Hits Since 87, Metro Boomin with Boominati Worldwide and more.

Zaytoven adding the music executive title to his extensive rĆ©sumĆ© is a plus. Heā€™s already worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Gucci Mane, Future, Migos, Jack Harlow and more.

One artist, in particular, had an emotional moment working with Zay in the studio. In January, Chief Keef revealed he cried while recording ā€œAinā€™t Gonna Happenā€ off their collaborative effort GloToven, which was released in March 2019. Instead of including the sound of him crying in the studio, he decided to use laughter ā€” something he does every time he cries.

ā€œFun fact: on front of ainā€™t gonna happen a young n-gga was cryin thinking about them members but every time I cry I laugh so I ended up laughing and taking the crying out the front you only hear it on intro by the time I got to laughin,ā€ Keef wrote on Twitter.

Dolla Bill Explores Musical Genres in His Latest Single, ā€œHouse on the Hillā€

Music, Promo, Videos

Artist and producer, Dolla Billā€”otherwise known as Will Francisā€”weaves multiple genres into his latest single, ā€œHouse on the Hill.ā€ The three featured tracks on his EP ā€œ3 Dolla,ā€ demonstrate musical exploration while diving into the artistā€™s personal experience.

Inspired by everyday life, Dolla looked close to home to write his single. ā€œMen are always trying to please their women. My wife wanted a nice house and Iā€™m always trying to please her. Thatā€™s where ā€˜House on the Hillā€™ came from. I combined the whole idea of pleasing her with building a hip-hop song around the imagery. Iā€™m a visual person. The cover art on the record shows the house and a money bag symbol.ā€

For his writing process, Dolla Bill began with the concept and visuals, then moved from lyrics to melody. ā€œI jotted down the lyrics, then started to flow over them. Then the song kind of broke open. The pre-chorus and chorus came. Then the melody came. Thatā€™s how the song evolved.ā€

Musically, ā€œHouse on the Hillā€ explores various genres through smooth transitions. ā€œIā€™ve never really done a song before that includes rap, spoken word, and melody in the same package,ā€ shares the artist. ā€œItā€™s always been either hip hop, rap, or a singer-songwriter type thing.ā€ The single begins with an instrumental intro, then transitions into spoken word that sets the mood of the song. After the first verse, the pre-chorus leads the way for the rap element. It is a song that flows from one method to another, demonstrating Dollaā€™s ability to fuse genres and explore sound.

ā€œI think someone who has never heard it before will appreciate the transitions in the song and the vibe. Itā€™s a laid-back vibe, not hard rap, not gangster rapā€”more of lo-fi rap,ā€ explains Dolla Bill. ā€œThe song crescendos with the chorus.ā€

A New Jersey native, Dolla Bill relocated to North Carolina in 2013 and jumped straight into the local music scene. ā€œI got into hip hop partly because of the environment I was living in, listening experience and partly by accident. As I was recording one of my singer-songwriter tracks, I couldnā€™t get the vocal right for it, so I started speaking the words and rhyming them and recorded for the heck of it. As I listened back, I thought ā€˜wow, this sounds like it could be hip hop. So I tried the next recording more intense, faster. It sounded better than the original singer/songwriter version.ā€™ Thatā€™s how I got into it.ā€

At home in North Carolina, Dolla Billā€™s day job spontaneously became a place of constructive feedback and collaboration when he began sharing his music with coworkers. ā€œIf someone asks where they can find my music, I always give them the links,ā€ shares Dolla of his word-of-mouth strategy. ā€œPeople respect you more when you put yourself out there as an artist. Sometimes Iā€™ll even drop some bars on the spot.ā€

In the coming year, Dolla Bill plans to revisit and reinvent some of his earlier worksā€”all while creating new music as it comes. ā€œAs soon as the creative fire starts, songs start rolling out,ā€ shares the artist. ā€œThere are phases an artist goes through. Sometimes youā€™re in a creative mode, really focused on writing lyrics, composing, putting songs together. Then thereā€™s the other phase of maybe not doing much of anything but that fire is still burning a little bit. Then another phase is the more technical end of musicā€”not creating but polishing and reinventing and going back into tracks and re-engineering new mixes. Then next thing I know, Iā€™m putting pen to paper again, writing and producing.ā€

In the lifecycle of a musician, itā€™s the ebb and flow that keeps things interesting for Dolla Bill. ā€œThe road can be long, hard, tough and more times than not, a dead end. What I have to remember is when I gauge any kind of success, gain or victories,Ā  itā€™s where I come from and reflect back on when I first started doing music. This is what Iā€™m supposed to be doing. That was then and this is now. Iā€™m in a better space both, musically, as an artist and in life.ā€
