Always Wednesday deftly weaves R&B and Emo into Pop vibes with debut EP ‘Amalfi’

TORONTO, CANADA – Two friends from Canada are expanding the boundaries of Pop music with their unique blend of throw-back sound and modern-day vibes. Taking a cue from the monotony that permeated 2020 thanks to social distancing and COVID restrictions, the two friends created the group Always Wednesday, and on Sept. 17 their first project is set to drop worldwide.

“Amalfi” is a three-song EP that bridges Pop with Emo and Punk undertones against themes of isolation and loneliness during the long Canadian winter that was born from the global pandemic. This moody Pop duo of Patrick Hamilton and Matthew Fleming have tapped into something truly special with this project, and as a debut EP it is set to announce their arrival to the global stage in big ways.

“We grew up playing rock music together and have both really liked the Emo music of the early 2000s,” Fleming said. “As we were going through the winter and it was dark and gloomy, we were talking about how we wanted an outlet to express ourselves. Patrick made a comment at one point that while we were in COVID it felt like we were always stuck in the middle of the week – kind of a, ‘Oh, it’s Wednesday again’ idea. That’s where our name came from, and as we started exploring that idea we were reminiscing about a vacation we took with our girlfriends to the Amalfi Coast in Italy. This project came out of that process.”

Fleming went on to say that both artists like the modern R&B sounds currently being circulated in the industry today, and they wanted to incorporate that into their project. Having developed a rapport with each other while playing together in Toronto Indie band Shipley Hollow, the two found it an easy and welcoming process to write songs together. Drawing on new influences of R&B and Pop artists such as Kehlani, Jhene Aiko, and H.E.R., the two friends combined those sounds with their love for Rock and Emo artists such as The Wonder Years and Dance Gavin Dance. They bounced ideas back-and-forth to one another and shared lyric-writing for each of the three songs. Ultimately, however, Hamilton is the main vocalist of the group while Fleming pushes production.

“His influences are different than mine, but we create something new that way,” Hamilton said. “And because we can take criticism from each other so well, it makes it way easier to blend things really well together. There are things that he does musically that I would never think of, but it adds really tasteful flavors to the songs we make. It’s cool to see how everything comes together that way.”

Always Wednesday said they plan to have a release party for their EP in Toronto on Sept. 18, and that they are working on more music in the coming year.

MarleyIBe – SKRT

ME Blog, Music, Videos

From poetry to trap, MarleyIBe announces his arrival with new project ‘Bone’

Music was always Dominik Kadoniya Kelly’s first love, but it was his poetry that first earned him
a reputation. The 26-year-old, who was born in Germany and now lives in the Washington, D.C.
area, gained a huge following on Twitter with his “Bittersweet Tuesdays” poetry that showed a
vulnerable side and built an intimate connection with his audience. “I posted a poem one day
and everybody liked it so I kept posting them but I always liked music,” says Kelly. “After the
poetry got the ball rolling and I built a fanbase I decided to translate that into what I actually
wanted to do with myself. The result? A music artist best known as MarleyIBe who just released
his newest project: Bone, which features 11 tracks with an old-school mixtape feel like the ones
Kelly grew up listening to with skits and hosting by DJs. Kelly wants each of his projects to have
a different vibe and Bone serves as his step out party. “Just an introduction, a different way for
people to view me,” he says. “The next projects won’t sound anything like this.”Bone has more
of a trap rap feel to it and it likely won’t take fans by surprise as much as Kelly’s first tape, which
caught many off guard who only knew Kelly for his poetry. “The music was very different from
what people were expecting and they were surprised by what they heard,” he says. “With this
tape they know more what to expect.”“A lot of people seem to gravitate towards the song
’Skrt’ and I believe that’s because it has a really catchy hook and there’s a chant-like vibe, a
cadence that I do in the song that gives it a chant-like vibe and I think people are attracted to
that,” he says. “It makes them gravitate towards the song as soon as it turns on.”The project’s
third track, “Baby Muva,” features Rico Nasty, who’s signed to Atlantic Records. Overall it’s a
very upbeat project and Kelly strived to create something cohesive, something that blended
together as one. It’s a fun project not meant to be taken too seriously. Kelly considers himself a
dynamic artist and while most of his releases to date feature his rapping ability he’s not just a
hip-hop artist. All of his projects currently in the works sound completely different and his next
release will give off more of an alternative rock and pop vibe. His first full album, still in the
works, will feature more of his poetry. “I grew up in Germany with my father in the military so I
moved around a lot,” Kelly says. “The type of music I grew up listening to wasn’t the same that
most people were influenced by or had the ability to experience. From just music in different
languages to festival type music, people don’t really go outside their comfort zone as far as
what they listened to here and my parents forced me to listen to different types of music
growing up.”Kelly, in particular, was heavily influenced by Tupac as a person and an artist and
says Lil Wayne has been a great inspiration. And Bob Marley – if Kelly’s stage name doesn’t give
it away – has also been a key influence. The MarleyIBe name originated when everybody said
Kelly looked like the legendary reggae artist. “There’s an old Lil Wayne song and he references
somebody else and he says ‘Marley I Be’ talking to the person outside int he studio,” Kelly says.
“I don’t know why, that just always stuck with me. Somebody else I knew blessed me with the
name and decided that should be with me and I’ve rolled with it ever since.”Kelly’s goal as
MarleyIBe is to make music that everybody can listen to. “Maybe this song isn’t for you but I
want to make a song for everybody,” he says.

Paul Morris – Coolest

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Videos

Artistry of Paul Morris set to be put on full display with string of single releases leading to full album ‘The Flight’

LOS ANGELES, CA – The full realization of Paul Morris’ artistic masterpiece is about to be unveiled for a global audience. What started with his hit single “No Reverse” at the beginning of the year now continues with “Coolest,” the next in a string of singles set to be released every month from now until July of 2022. And each song comes with an animated video – one playing off the other for a story woven together through song and artistic expression. Ultimately the story will be contained in the album “The Flight,” which will be released at the end of the journey.

Unlike “No Reverse” – which featured a spacey, out-of-this-world vibe – “Coolest” kicks the door open with a unique and original production style that perfectly sets the stage for the music to be featured on “The Flight.” It’s a song that shows the world who he is as an artist and what he’s able to bring to the table as a producer. It also defines him as a person lyrically, and introduces just one of many sounds perfected with the help of Grammy-nominated recording and mixing engineer Bryan Cruz.

“It’s going to be a broad album with different sounds throughout,” Morris said. “There’s definitely a different tempo on this song than the last one, which has a slower tempo and was more political. With this song it’s all me and it’s a party and we’re cruising together. It’s a vibe, and kind of an autobiography, but in a cool way. Ultimately it’s a song about how cool I am and how cool the project is.”

Formerly known as the artist Konchynce, Morris has long been a sought-after producer in the industry. He’s been making music for the better part of the last decade and has had the opportunity to work with many Grammy-nominated producers and engineers. Early in his career he worked with Derrick “Drop” Braxton on his mixtape “The Knowledge.” Drop is a producer perhaps best known for working with Lupe Fiasco on his album “The Cool,” which has received high praise from industry insiders since its release in 2007. Morris said he connected with Drop shortly after Lupe’s album release, and took him under his wing. He’s put in the hard work and honed his sound to be something truly special.

“My music is always about positivity,” he said. “I produce my own music, collaborate with other artists, and just try to make positive, moving music. ‘The Flight’ is about taking things to the next level. That’s really the theme of the whole album – moving to the next level. What the journey and the ride is like to start as an independent artist and becoming a superstar. The incline and taking off – me taking off and going to the next level. I’ve been behind the scenes for a long time, and this is like the takeoff.”

“Coolest” is slated to drop across all streaming platforms on Sept. 17.

Midnight Clover – Danny

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

The band Midnight Clover brings an intriguing, mysterious, sexy sound to the masses with new album ‘FloW’

LAS VEGAS, NV – When you take the easy rock sounds of classics like Fleetwood Mac and the early years of The Pretenders, and mix those with influences ranging from David Bowie to PJ Harvey to Nirvana with a raw-voiced, rocking female vocalist, then you’ve got a good idea of what drives “Midnight Clover.”

Las Vegas, NV-based Midnight Clover has performed regularly in bars and larger venues up and down the West Coast and across the Southwestern United States for the better part of seven years.  When the coronavirus pandemic shut down social gatherings, the band decided to take advantage of the break and write new music.  The  result is their new album “FloW,” which is currently available across all streaming platforms.

The album features eight songs that explore a variety of styles and sounds in the Rock and Indie genres. These songs reflect different subject matter and musical textures that the group has created while touring and performing over recent years.

Featuring guitarist Johnie Stomp, drummer Jimmie Bohn, bassist Roman, and lead singer Clover Corby, the group offers funk/punk indie rock with a truly relevant vibe for the current landscape of today’s music industry. With seamless ease the band fuses delightful sensibilities of old-school grunge and New Wave with infectious guitar-driven melodies of alternative indie rock.

Clover says, “Every song on this album is a little bit different. I like more storytelling types of

songs, and I don’t feel like the album has just one overall theme, but instead shares many different stories. There are a couple of songs that are about being empowered to take back control of your life, and a few playful songs as well.”

The debut single from the project is “Danny,” which Clover refers to as “sexy, playful and honest.” It has a catchy chorus that will have you singing along.

“More than anything, we just want people to have fun and enjoy our music,” Clover said. “A lot of people who have seen us perform have said that we’re a fun and unique rock band – and that’s exactly what we want to bring.”

So…what does Clover do at midnight? “We’re embracing the mood of ethereal rock at midnight.”

Nilooteh – Watch Me

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Nilooteh uses power of music to inspire others to embrace free spirit

LOS ANGELES, CA – Nilooteh is a woman with a rebel heart that isn’t meant to be tamed – a wild child with a free spirit and reckless mind. She’s the kind of free-spirited woman who is stifled in a strict regime like her home country of Iran, which forces women to cover their body and hair from head-to-toe. Women in Iran don’t have the freedom to do what they want, even when it comes to pursuing a career. And artistic pursuits are extremely frowned upon. But Nilooteh knew she had to be true to herself and break free from those constraints, so she moved to the U.S.

Now based in Los Angeles, this budding young artist is setting the world on fire with her unique sound and style. From music to fashion to art and various other forms of inspirational multi-media, Nilooteh is an artist demanding attention. And she’s showcasing that unique individuality across four new singles that she’ll be releasing every two weeks over the next two months.

The first release is “Watch Me,” a Deep House track with engaging EDM vibes meant to introduce the world to her unique brand of art. Slated for release across all streaming platforms on Sept. 9, the song embraces the idea of love in its many forms, and encourages listeners to not only tap into the energy and use it as a mood-booster, but also to consider what it means to be someone who loves without limits.

“If the Divine Source creates all that is beautiful and is working through everything, then the more you love, the more you embrace all parts of yourself, others, nature, and all beauty of the world,” she said. “This leads to better union and integration with the Source and provides true healing. As a result, you reclaim your rightful divine power. You also fully accept in yourself and others what is not of the Source – not beautiful – but realize that it is an error in understanding or choice. You forgive yourself or the other and work to achieve understanding. Ultimately I believe that women have the right to be free, and all the lyrics of my songs are about being wild and instinctive and sexual and sensual. It’s a little bit extra, but I want it to be because I want to show the world that I’m bold.”

Nilooteh said she wants to focus her music on that idea of freedom – both physically and mentally. She said too many people today are prisoners of their own thoughts and she hopes her music will become the vehicle behind which more people in the world find true freedom. She moved to the U.S. to find that freedom, and now that she has she’s excited to use her music to help free others.

Collin Terrel – F*ck Today

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Collin Terrel is 100% honest in new album The Gist of It

INGLEWOOD, CA – Pursuing a PHD in Media Studies and a career as an artist is more than a full time job, but this Rapper is defying the odds. Collin Terrel is speaking the truth and sharing his abundance of unique experiences with the world in his latest project, an album titled The Gist of It. This project takes you through all of the reasons that Terrel is following the path that he’s on, with insightful lyricism and a unique and extremely relevant perspective.

The Gist of It delves into important topics ranging from how socio-economic systems have affected Terrel as he grew from a child in a less than ideal situation to an adult pursuing a Doctorate degree, to the importance of self care in a hyper-’woke’ society, all the way to the way we survive in this world. His music fits people of all walks of life in some way or another, truly bringing people together across communities. Terrel truly did an amazing job with creating each and every one of the songs on this album.

One of the most relevant and conceptually important songs in this project is “Fuck Today”. This track, the lead single on the album, is about taking the time to take care of yourself and not worry about all of the politics and problems in the world. “Everyone uses the word ‘woke’ when they talk about being aware of the things around them, but when you’re ‘woke’ all the time, you’re not getting any sleep. Sometimes I end up exhausted.” “Fuck Today” is Robinson’s way of picturing a day where he can just relax and not deal with the stress that comes from being ‘woke’ all of the time. In the world we all live in today, this is something that so many  struggle with and that we can all take notes on.

Another noteworthy track on this album that focuses on self care is “Lunch and Recess”. This track goes back to the basics — things we’ve all known since childhood. “This song means a lot to me. These are the two parts of the day when you’re not receiving instruction as a child, but they’re still incredibly important. This is where you learn to interact with people and actually move throughout the world.” These are the times when we really learn who we are as people and develop personalities. “It’s where we learn how to eat and play the game for keeps.” Another amazing track on the album, “Lunch and Recess” is about how we exist in the world, something that virtually everyone can take something from.

The Gist of It is a project that allowed Terrel to fully express himself, with no limits or commentary from others. It is a place where we as an audience can truly see him for who he is as both a Rapper and a human being. It’s not the only project he has in the works though. He is preparing to release two videos to go along with the album and is already working on a new EP to be released in early 2022.

Be sure to check out Collin Terrel on all streaming platforms and follow him on social media to keep up with the new music and other projects that he has in store. Links to all of these things can be found listed below.

Lil Slanderous – Vick

Music, Promo, Videos

Lil Slanderous puts unique spin on popular sounds with new EP ‘SlanderVill3’

WICHITA FALLS, TX – It’s OK to push boundaries. It’s OK to get out of your comfort zone and try different things. And if you don’t take a chance an invest in yourself, no one else will.

Those are the sentiments that new hip-hop artist Lil Slanderous is bringing to the game with his new blend of music. Offering a unique sound and style that does exactly as he preaches, this boundary-breaking young artist is creating quite a buzz throughout the Deep South with his artist offerings. His latest EP, “SlanderVill3,” is the kind of project destined to put him on the global stage, and his hit single “Vick” is already paving the way for that super-stardom.

Featuring braggadocios and fun lyrics, the song features a bevy of witty wordplay and double entendres against a rhythm and groove that feels inspired by legends like Ghost Face Killer or XXXTentacion. Spurred by his love of football and sports, the song uses former NFL legend Michael Vick as a metaphor for greatness.

“It’s really just kind of bragging and having fun,” Lil Slanderous said of the single. “There’s a lot of back-and-forth with me and Type-One, who’s featured on the track. We just play off each others’ verses and explore the idea that sometimes you don’t always have to be humble. Sometimes you can let people know what you can do and what you got.”

The single is one that sets the stage for the entire EP, which is also fun and upbeat and plays off the influences of Texas artists like UGK and Screwed Up Click. It’s also a project that takes a cue from artists like The Alchemist and Madlib. Like “Vick,” there are a lot of braggadocios-type raps, as well as great vibes perfect for hanging with friends or cruising around town.

“This is the type of music you listen to when you want to catch a vibe,” Lil Slanderous said. “It’s really smooth lyrics and great delivery and great mixing. You will love riding to this. It’s like Currency mixed with some Pimp C a little bit, and all Lil Slanderous. I like to put a spin on my own verbiage – my own type of slang. And I like to take different styles and make them my own. The result with this EP is a kind of late-night-pimp’s riding music. It’s something to feel good to and ride to. And if you smoke, you can enjoy this, as well. Or if you’re at a party and it’s time to wind down, this is the perfect thing to turn on and ride on out.”

Lil Slanderous said he has plenty more music in the works and plans to release more music in the coming months. Until then, fans can check out his music, or follow him on social media, by visiting the following links:

Jamaul II and 2Koldd – TRACK 2

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Best friends continue impressive artistic output with new hit single ‘Track 2’

MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST – Two hip-hop artists from the South have put their many years of camaraderie and collaboration together to create a hot new track that’s sure to create major buzz all across the U.S. “Track 2” is a head-nodding banger with a bouncy vibe and a Trap twist that perfectly represents the impressive artistry of Jamaul II and 2Koldd. It’s a song that you can’t help but bop your head to, with fun lyrics that are infinitely repeatable and a groove that will make you want to move your body. It’s a Trappy song with a dark feel, but the upbeat energy offers a fun bump that audiences all over the world will soon be enjoying.

“Everything we’re saying in this song makes you want to get after it,” 2Koldd said. “It’s an upbeat type song, even though the video is a little dark. When you hear it, it makes you want to do something – get active with it and go workout in a gym or something. We think it’s something cool and relatable for the masses.”

“Track 2” is the latest from this hip-hop duo that has been performing together for more than 15 years. They first met in fourth grade and soon developed a friendship that shared a mutual passion for music. Their individual talents played perfectly together from the very beginning – with Jamaul II offering an introspective, moody vibe; and 2Koldd bringing an edginess to his lyrical mastery. Together they’ve been creating impressive singles year after year, and with “Track 2” they’re hoping to introduce their sound to an even bigger audience.

Jamaul II was born in San Diego but spent most of his youth in New Orleans. That vast cultural and geographical influence directly shaped his sound and style. Music has been the most important part of his life, he said, and through his music he’s been able to relate with a lot of people over the years. Most people would describe him as a cool and down-to-earth guy with a smooth and mysterious demeanor. Those characteristics shine through his music, and have made him a fan favorite throughout the South.

2Koldd was born in Atlanta and has lived in the small town of Moss Point, Mississippi for most of his life. His parents were friends with Jamaul’s parents, and that’s how the two of them met. Similarly to his friend, 2Koldd fell in love with music at an early age while listening to Jazz, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Funk music. His uncle was the band director at the high school they both attended, and they both developed their skills while learning to play various instruments.

“Music is the most powerful tool in the universe,” 2Koldd said. “I love to listen to it. I love to produce it. And I love to record it. I am music. And I want our music to help people – for them to be able to listen to it and feel good.”

“I agree with that,” Jamaul II said. “I hope people can turn on one of our songs and it will lift them out of a depressing moment. That’s what music has done for me. I remember a personal moment for me when I was very depressed and I listened to Kendrick Lamar’s album and it transported me to another dimension. I felt everything he was saying. We want to be able to do that for others.”

Jamaul II and 2Koldd said they have another music video ready to drop very soon called “Icy, as well as a new single called “OT” that they hope to release in the next month. To listen to their music, or to follow them on social media, please visit the following links:
