R Dollas – Gloves In The Summer

East Coast underground legend R Dollas drops hard-hitting new album ‘All 4 Tha Dolla’

UTICA, NY – The new album from East Coast hip-hop underground legend R Dollas is the epitome of a street album with a lot of punches. But even as such, “All 4 Tha Dolla” is an album that will invite listeners to get up on their feet and dance. The distinct 90s vibe has a new-age bop to it that creates a truly modern-day New York feeling. Produced by hip-hop legend Rick Hyde, the album is a perfect showcase of the supernatural talent of R Dollas and his ability to weave witty words with hard-hitting lyrics that are simultaneously relatable and challenging.

“My creativity and the story I tell is what has been setting me apart for the past 15 years,” R Dollas said. “I try not to really fantasize too much and just keep everything realistic. Ultimately I want my music to be known for motivation and hopefully helping someone who understands my story and is going through the same things. They can see where I came from and where I’m trying to go and use that as motivation for themselves.”

R Dollas said he’s been rapping since he was 8 years old, and has been recording professionally since his teenage years. His first big track was a collaboration with the notorious Big Casanova, and since then he’s released multiple mixtapes, albums, EPs and hit singles. Over the years he’s become known as a savvy artist with ambition and creativity who brings a gritty rawness to his lyrics and invites listeners to follow him on his journey.

“Growing up in the projects, music was a way out,” R Dollas said. “When I got in trouble and put on punishment, I would write raps and watch videos all day. Now I basically live in the studio. Doing five years in prison, and then another two years, gave me more than enough to read and write about what I was going through.”

R Dollas said he plans on releasing five videos from the album – “Everybody Gotta Eat,” “Meow,” “Gloves In The Summer,” and “2 Words.” He has also already released the debut single/video for “Groupies.”

Tōn – Space Party Deluxe II

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Abstract, spacey vibe offers ethereal insight on new album ‘Zone 11: The Prelude to …’

SILSBEE, TX – Inspiration can sometimes strike from the most unexpected of places. That was the case for the new single from Southern artist Tōn. One day he was scrolling through Facebook and stumbled upon a story of a Haitian girl who said she had thought she’d seen a mermaid beckoning to her from out in the ocean. She went into the water and went missing for a few days, but then re-emerged days later. People in her village were so surprised that she had survived. As Tōn read the article, he couldn’t help but daydream and imagine other fantastical stories, and out of those musings came the material for his latest album “Zone 11: The Prelude to …”

The debut single from the project takes its que from the Haitian girl’s story. It’s a song called “Space Party Deluxe 2.” Tōn describes it as an exploration of imagination as he goes down the rabbit hole of considering what it would be like to actually meet a mermaid.

“You hear these stories from sailors who say they saw things in the water that people would never believe, and I just kind of build off of that,” he said. “What would I do if I saw one? What would happen? We know that 95 percent of the ocean is unexplored, so in a lot of ways it’s like space that hasn’t been explored … who knows what we would find.”

Tōn said the entire album explores a variety of outlandish ideas and conspiracy theories in similar ways to “Space Party Deluxe 2.” Even the overall vibe of the project has an abstract, spacey kind of feel that is perfect for reflecting on inner thoughts and musing about unusual and unexplained occurrences. From UFOs and cults, to social justice issues and political intrigue, Tōn takes a deep dive into otherworldly ideas in a way that makes the listener consider what life could be like in the future.

“I want to inspire people to be different,” Tōn said of his music. “Especially kids who are like me. People tried to pick on me a bit just because I was different, and I want my music to inspire other kids who experience that to dare to be different, no matter who may oppose you. Dare to be your best.”

Tōn said his passage through those difficult growing-up years was paved with music, and he hopes to be able to create a soundtrack for generations that inspire and motivate in the same ways he was inspired and motivated along the way. His lyricism, in particular, has been something that has helped him to stand out as an artist in today’s crowded music marketplace, and as such he hopes an ever-widening global fanbase will begin to recognize the unique talent he brings to the table.

Grand Marquis – How I Do

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Grand Marquis offers epic night out with swaggy new single ‘How I Do’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – An epic new single from East Coast artist Grand Marquis has the kind of vibe that is making people all over the world want to know who this fast-rising young artist is. With a sound that feels ready-made for the Next “Fast and Furious” movie, Grand Marquis’ “How I Do” is the perfect kind of song for a chill night out on the town. The mid-tempo smooth groove has a nice sway to it, and the mellow vibe pairs with epic melodies laid against Grand Marquis’ freaky flow for a truly mesmerizing sound.

Originally from New York, Grand Marquis relocated to Northern Virginia at age 9 with his family. He has always loved music, and eventually began playing songs on his keyboard and learning music by ear. At times, he would sit in his room and play original songs, while other times he would write lyrics as they came to his head. Those two things eventually melded together and he developed his own signature sound and style. Learning from some of the greats like Biggie and Nas and Jay-Z, Grand Marquis began to weave together a classic sound that gained attention from an ever-widening fanbase all around the world. He has emerged as one of the most notorious rappers in the DMV area, and one of his biggest accomplishments was opening for Bone Thugs N Harmony and Naughty By Nature in front of 20,000-plus people.

“It’s been a long ride from starting to play the piano by ear and then beatboxing with Benny Blanco in middle school to finally get to where I am today,” Grand Marquis said. “I just kept grinding and doing shows and trying to get my name out there, and eventually I started getting booked for shows and built a team and now I have a whole entertainment label behind me (Ambitious Entertainment).”

More than anything, people who look at Grand Marquis’ career and his music will know that he has always had the drive and power to move forward. It’s no wonder that his stage name feels so classic – it’s the perfect description of how he approaches his craft and what listeners can expect from his music.

With “How I Do,” Grand Marquis puts that skill on full display. To call it epic is not an over-statement. It has the high-quality production and “epic” sound that makes it feel like it belongs on the next soundtrack of a movie. And it’s that triumphant celebration that makes for the meat of the song in ways that invite anyone who listens to it to join in on the fun.

“It has been a long struggle and this song is all about saying how we felt like we made it,” Grand Marquis said. “It’s a night on the town and we turning up. It’s me putting myself out there expressing myself and knowing I did it without any handouts. I’m just trying to make it happen, and this song is a celebration of that.”

Grand Marquis said he plans to follow up “How I Do” with an album called “No Question,’ which will feature 16 songs and should drop later this year.

Sean 1 – Booty Control

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Hitmaker Sean 1 drops hot new club banger ‘Booty Control’

LOUISVILLE, KY – When someone needs a hit song, Sean 1 is the guy to call.

The East Coast multi-talented artist, producer and songwriter has been making music professionally for close to a decade, with multiple hits under his belt. His most recent breakout is the club banger “Booty Control,” which debuted No. 2 on the Independent Record Charts. The song is the first off an upcoming EP called “Afta Party Vol. 1,” which is set to go wide across all streaming platforms on Aug. 11.

Produced by Grammy Winning artist Voodoo Spellz (who has worked with Ludacriss and Jamie Foxx), “Booty Control” has a distinct club vibe that immediately makes people get up on their feet and start dancing. It’s a dance/twerk record, Sean 1 said, with a message that celebrates women of all shapes and sizes.

“If you like going to the club and dancing, you’ll like this song,” he said. “We had a big hit about five years ago that did really well and we wanted to recreate that kind of vibe with this song. But it’s just one of many vibes on the EP. There’s one song that’s a mid-tempo club record, and another one that’s a little slower called ‘Is Heaven Real’ that’s dedicated to my dad, who passed away. There’s another one that’s really aggressive called “Pullin On My Dreadz” and has an R&B Yung Bleu type of sound. Overall it’s a great project that I think people are going to really love.”

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Sean 1 has been involved in music since a young boy who at the age of 9 began singing in the church choir. As time passed his love for R&B and hip-hop began to flourish, and by the time he was a teenager he was making his own music. At age 19 he released his first solo LP entitled “Definitions,” which gained major attention from fans and A&R insiders all over the U.S. and was featured on the BET movie “Winner Takes All.” After a brief time touring with actus such as Wale and Travis Scott, Sean 1 decided to take things in his own hands and helped co-found his own independent label Self Made Millionaire Entertainment LLC. In 2015 he released the EP “Black Label, which has the certified hit “Booty On Me” featuring R Prophet of Nappy Roots and remixes featuring Kevin Gates and Juicy J. The song charted on the Billboard charts and was featured on MTV’s Catfish, where Nev took a shot at rapping a verse in the booth on an episode. In the years since, Sean 1 has been hard at work on more music, and has created enough singles to release both “Afta Party Vol. 1” in August, and then “Afta Party Vol. 2” later this year.

One Side – Boss Up

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

One Side offers different perspective on life with energetic new track ‘Boss Up’

ATLANTA, GA – One Side is an up-and-coming Atlanta-based hip-hop artist who is bringing his “more than one side of life” movement to the forefront of the music industry. This young artist has been on the grind for years but has recently been creating a buzz in the industry with his bevvy of new releases. With singles like “Pressure” – which has racked up more than 150,000 views since its release late last year – and “Set It Up” – which also has 100,000-plus views – this hot young artist is quickly making a name for himself as one of the top Atlanta artists.

With his new single “Boss Up,” he’s ready to burst out of the Atlanta scene and onto the global stage.

Made in Def Star Studios owned by notorious producer Dun Deal, “Boss Up” is an upbeat club banger that’s perfect for the summer. The video for the single brings a lot of energy and invites people do join the hot women on the screen as they dance and shake and enjoy the music. It’s a song that, like the title would suggest, let’s the world know just how much of a boss he is and how he’s bringing that attention-grabbing energy to the industry in major ways.

“There are many levels to this world we’re living in, and this is my point of view of bossing up in the midst of that,” One Side said. “I’m here to show the doubters what you can do once you put your mind to it. Ultimately I want to show people that there’s more than one side of life. You don’t have to fall victim to the circumstances of your life. There’s more than one type of way to live, so don’t settle for less.”

More than anything it’s that dedication and work ethic that comes through when listening to One Side’s music. His sound captures a blend of genres, with a vocal tone that is crystal clear and hypnotic. The melodies that he can hit are outstanding, but it’s his lyricism that fans really appreciate. When he’s in the studio, he’s known as an artist who is very particular. He wants every single line to be heard and felt through the hearts of anyone who listens. By speaking on life situations that are relatable to many people throughout the world, he’s able to connect in ways that inspire others to feel alive and know that they’re not alone.

One Side said he has plenty of unreleased music in his vault that he plans to share with the world over the next few weeks and months. In addition to “Boss Up,” he said his record “Real Diamonds” is also available across all streaming platforms and has been getting a lot of buzz from blogs and radio stations across the U.S.

Andale – Streets Have No Name

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Stand-out rapper emerges from rising Buffalo hip-hop scene with impressive new single ‘Streets Don’t Love You’

BUFFALO, NY – Angel R. Pimentel, known professionally as Andale_Pizzi, is a rap and hip-hop artist and songwriter who is one of the standouts from the recent surge of hip-hop activity out of Buffalo, New York. Originally from Carolina, Puerto Rico, Andale_Pizzi grew up as the oldest of four in the lower west side of Buffalo. The city has been almost a laboratory of experimentation and new energy in the genre over the past three years, and Andale_Pizzi took full advantage of that environment to develop a unique sound and style that is drawing new audiences from all over the world.

His latest single “Streets Don’t Love You” is the latest example of his raw talent and ability. The first off his “Between The Lines” album, it’s a song that takes inspiration from the roots of hip-hop by telling stories from the streets, but doing so in such a way that it offers a positive inspiration for listeners.

“When I wrote it there was a lot of homicide and death going on in the city,” Andale_Pizzi said. “That was my motivation to write that song. What the city was going through as far as violence goes made it so that you continuously asked yourself, ‘Who’s next?’ So, part of this song is warning people not to believe everything other people say because it won’t end well. But ultimately the song is about following two different paths – one that keeps you alive and one that could take your life.”

It’s the perfect single to showcase his work on “Between The Lines,” which he describes as a project that’s old, gritty, and an homage to the classic hip-hop vibe of the late 80s and early 90s. That’s the sounds he grew up listening to, he said, and he’s eager to bring back some of that nostalgic feel. But that’s not to say he’s a knockoff of some of the legends of the past. Not at all, in fact. His sound is fresh and distinct. His wordplay is clever and deep. The way he spits, if you don’t pay attention it could go over your head. Listeners have to focus on what he’s rapping about, and when they do they’re often stunned with the clarity he brings to so many different situations.

“My wordplay is what I hope people remember the most about my music,” he said. “My ideas aren’t like most people. Everything I’ve got is different. The subjects I touch on aren’t like what other rappers in the game are talking about. I definitely have my own sound – that’s a fact. I feel like I stand out in a genre where everyone else sounds the same. And a lot of audiences are gonna feel it.”

“Streets Don’t Love You” is currently available across all streaming platforms, and will soon be followed by the 17 other songs and skits on “Between The Lines.”
