NEW MUSIC THAT COMBINES SOUTHERN HEIRLOOM
ROOTS, HOMAGE TO THE NORTHEAST AND MODERN WEST
COAST CLASSIC IN ESSENCE
LOS ANGELES, CA – A new single from music veteran Malik “Leak” Clendenin is now available. The song is called “Ago,” and its smooth R&B mellow groove combines with soulful lyrics and Leakʼs sultry vocals to explore the ups and downs of a relationship. Though some might view it as a breakup song, Leak said it has more to do with the good and bad things that an average couple might go through during the course of their relationship. “The music video kind of explores that with all of the scenes taking place behind closed doors at home,” Leak said. “Some of those moments are fun or romantic, while others are harder with fights or even silence. All of it is to explain different relationship and the different things people go through throughout their relationships.”
Over the next few months Leak will be busy shooting multiple visuals for his upcoming album. Director Nimi Hendrix of Secret Society Media Productions has already tackled the video for “Ago” and has two more cinematic visuals to follow. Los Angeles based creative design group Creative Objectives will be tackling Leak’s visuals, fashion, branding, and marketing influence.
Leak said over the course of his career his music has tended to portray something “street motivational,” while also exploring relationships or talking about girls through everyday situations in life. Heʼs put together a body of work over the past 10 years, starting from when he taught himself how to play piano at age 16 and evolved into learning how to produce and engineer. He continued to develop his musical talents at the Art Institute of Atlanta, after which he began to collaborate with bigger names, such as King Tone and Tezzy 808. He soon found himself opening for artists like Waka Flocka Flame, Trinidad James, Gorilla Zoe, Que and Rich Homie Quan.
