Lordzamel – Get Them Bandz

Lordzamel helps world overcome pains while embracing joys of life on new album ‘Fixed Tape’

NEW YORK, NY – Lordzamel Brooks has a unique capacity to identify with pain and the problems of people all over the world. His story is one filled with pain and disappointments, but also achievements and triumphs. And those highs and lows find their way into his music in ways that connect with fans all over the world.

This is especially true of his latest album “Fixed Tape.” The album is a reinvention of his first album “Hatter Minute,” released in 2005 during a year when he was dealing with extreme kidney failure. It was a project born from the pain – both literal and figurative – he was going through at the time. “Fixed Tape,” by comparison, is a reimagining of those songs 15 years later during a time when he’s enjoying the best health he’s ever had. As such, the album encapsulates the simultaneous highs and lows he felt when he was finally given a kidney transplant after 14 years on a waiting list. He said the songs on the project were written in response to his joy at receiving a kidney, but also from his frustration at having been passed over for so many years and forced to stay on dialysis. He said that exploration of pleasure and pain is something that’s still relevant today and as such, he’s created a reprise to the album and re-released it in 2020 – a year in which many people around the world are experiencing similar emotions.

“It’s lyrical and hot,” Lordzamel said of the album. “I’ve been through a great deal in my life, and so have a lot of other people out there. I’ve come through it by exploring a lot of different sides of my life. I’m an entrepreneur and a fashionista and most of all, I want to be known for being one of the greatest emcees to ever touch the mic. When people hear my music I want them to say, ‘That’s Lord’s shit! Turn that up!’”

Lordzamel was born in Brooklyn and grew up both there and in Harlem. His parents were musicians and left an early mark on his life when it came to expressing oneself through art. He was also heavily influenced by the thriving music scene in Harlem, and to this day credits his unique sound and style to some of the artists he listened to while growing up. It was at Camp Mariah Carey during his teenage years that he discovered his love and knack for rapping, and in the years since he’s perfected the art of witty wordplay alongside catchy vibes. At 18, he was signed by a major record label, but at age 22, his kidney gave way and over the next 14 years he struggled with health issues. Just when he was turning 36 and giving up on his life, he got a new kidney – three days before his birthday. He made a song called “Hatter Minute” almost immediately after that, which landed on the radio show Jessy Jess 91.9 Hip Hop Hour and everything began to take off from there.

“Sometimes music is the only medicine the heart and soul needs,” he said. “I think my first two singles – which are separate from ‘Fixed Tape’ – will show people exactly what that means. With ‘Everything Glossy’, I’m motivating people to shine bright. It’s about everything noticeable and seen and flamboyant. It’s a hot song and the lyrical content is crazy. Then with ‘Get Them Bandz, I’m telling people to go get their money. Stop complaining. Too many people are making more excuses than they are making money. This is America. Stop saying that the white man is keeping you down. This is the land of opportunity for everybody. It’s my favorite song on the album and I love how much it pushes you and gets people hyped.”

Both of Lordzamel’s singles “Everything Glossy” and “Get Them Bandz” are currently available across all streaming platforms.

Jackpot Future Kiid – Used To

Industry Spotlight, Music, Promo

Jackpot Future Kiid says hello to the world of music with groovy new single ‘Used To’

MEMPHIS, TN – Jackpot Future Kiid is a fresh new wave of sound and style on the music scene whose unique blend of mellow piano chords and traditional 808s make for an intriguing new energy in the Hip Hop world. His new single “Used To” is a hello to the industry, of sorts, with relatable lyrics and a groove that people all over the world will soon be vibing to.

The song starts with a mellow intro that features light piano chords, immediately creating a special mood. When the 808s drop in, that bouncy flow makes the listeners want to bop their heads, and by the time Jackpot comes in with his distorted vocals, the end result is a truly mesmerizing new single. With a wide vocal range that goes both high and low, Jackpot is able to provide a quirky and intriguing counterpoint of sound to the traditional Hip Hop Rap. It’s a song that takes you on a ride that you won’t want to get off – you’ll have to keep riding to the end.

“Whenever I create a song, I make sure it’s something everyone can vibe to,” Jackpot said. “That’s no different with this one. The lyrics are basically me giving everyone a hello and telling my story of how my life has changed. A lot of people who get into this industry change over time, but I’m still who I used to be. The money didn’t change me and never will, even though people around me have changed because of that. I’m smart. I’m a hustler. I’m driven. And most of all, I’m an inspiring artist.”

Though Jackpot has always been into music, it wasn’t until he did an EP with his stepbrother in his teenager years that he really caught the bug for writing and recording music. The EP was called “Split Personalities” and went on to have some modest success throughout his region. He said the experience helped to realize how important it was to stay true to his unique brand of music, and he’s been spending his time ever since perfecting his own unique sound and style.

“I make what I like and people vibe with it,” he said. “I am a vibe. If somebody says ‘That’s a vibe,’ they’re talking about me. When you hear something, your ears know immediately if you like it or not. That’s how my sound is. I make music I love, but also sounds that I know people are listening to right now. There are Jazz inspirations and real subtle hints of Memphis, but even with that, I’m putting it my own way. I really just want people to know I’m serious about this passion. I’m trying to make something that’s everlasting and iconic. That’s the passion that drives me. I want to make iconic music.”

JoeLew – Verified

ME Blog, Music, Promo

One of the hottest rappers in Atlanta is proving his skills to the world with his latest hit single ‘Verified’

ATLANTA, GA – It’s official … Atlanta artist JoeLew is “Verified!”

This Hip Hop artist from the South has been making waves in the music industry for the past few years, and his latest single “Verified” is the latest hit to rock the airwaves. Featuring his vibey, catchy sound that’s perfect for bumping when you ride in the car, “Verified” highlights the one-of-a-kind style that comes from this fast-rising young talent. It’s a song that screams “I’m certified.”

“Anything I do is top notch,” JoeLew said, “I’m solidified. That’s what this song is about. It’s up-tempo but it still has like a vibe, though. It makes you just want to get in a good mood and dance.”

JoeLew was born in Guyana, a country on South America’s North Atlantic coast, and didn’t come to the U.S. until he was nearly in his teens. He first moved to New York before eventually coming to Atlanta, and keen listeners will be able to hear that international influence in his sound. He gets a little something from everywhere he’s ever lived. Most of all, he has always had a love for rapping. He displayed that passion in high school when he and a friend were given permission by the principal to record his first song in the principal’s office. Later that year, she gave him and his friends the opportunity to perform the song in front of half the school with Hip Hop legends Lil Bankhead and Skooly also in attendance. The reaction he got from everyone made him want to keep going even further.

“When Skooly came to the school and heard me rap, he told me I was hard and I gotta keep going,” JoeLew said. “I haven’t looked and since then, I’ve done shows with multiple artists like Lil Baby, Peewee Longway, and Skooly. My vibey sound is what people talk about. It gives you goosebumps. Plus, I have the ability to continuously create catchy tunes which has gained me some loyal fans all over the world.”

JoeLew said “Verified” is one of a handful of singles that he’s been working on this year and which he plans on releasing over the next few months. His next single, “Big or Small,” is slated to drop in mid-November and features more of a smooth R&B feel. Before that, however, a music video for “Verified” is slated to drop Nov. 7.

Sleepy Orange – TWSG

Blog, ME Blog, Music

Young trio Sleepy Orange fuse multiple sounds on moody new Indie/Pop single ‘The Way She Goes’

LOS ANGELES, CA – It’s been a rough year for most people around the world, which is why friends Frankie, Trey and Edward have put their collective skills together to create a positive new song called “The Way She Goes.” Slated to release on Halloween, the song showcases the signature style of these three artists who go by the name Sleepy Orange. Indie Pop meets moody modern production for a truly one-of-a-kind single that is the perfect platform upon which this young band will begin to build its global audience.

First meeting at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, these three musicians found a mutual love for production and brought their various skill sets to the table, fusing together sounds that include Blues, Rock, Indie, Jazz, and even elements of EDM. Their shared goal is to make people of all ages and background move their hips, bob their heads and sing along to that sweet Sleepy Orange sound. Whether you’re looking to kick back and sip a cold drink, or dance the night away, Sleepy Orange has got you covered.

“Most people this year would say that life sucks, but that’s the way she goes,” Trey said. “This song was inspired by that idea but we take it a step forward. Ultimately, it’s about moving forward and looking to the bright side. It has a cool Indie/Pop vibe that’s very modern.”

Prominent throughout the track is the guitar work from Edward, who said his sound was inspired by many of the Indie bands of the late 90s and early 2000s.

“We really wanted to fuse old Indie classic guitar sound with more modern production techniques,” Edward said. “I think the end result is a fresh take on something that’s been popular for a while.”

The production of the project was mostly overseen by Frankie who’s the drummer of the band. Though all three played a hand in the finished product – including producing, mixing and mastering – Frankie took the lead with production. He said he was looking to bring more of a West Coast energy to the track that incorporates a lot of ideas and planning on the part of the group.

“It feels to me like the biggest collaboration effort we’ve ever put out together,” Frankie said. “Each of us comes from a different vein of music. I come from a DJ and production background, and drumming. Ed is coming from more of a Blues and Rock guitar background. Trey has his kind of acoustic, ‘weird songs,’ as he calls it. And when you put those three ingredients together, it creates an interesting sound. It’s important for us to be a band that people can go out and watch and dance to and just forget about the problems they have and just have a good time. That’s what this song is about – putting out something positive after a really brutal year. Being positive and uplifting is the message that runs through all of our music.”

Yung Faucet shows off high octane drippy style on new mixtape ‘Jugg & Drip’

HARRISBURG, PA – Everything about Pennsylvania artist Yung Faucet is drippy – from the way he puts his outfits together to the way he flows on beats with fly melodies and clever wordplay. That signature style is put on full display with his new mixtape “Jugg & Drip” which is currently available across all streaming platforms. It’s the second mixtape from this fast-rising young talent and already the buzz around this project is gaining him a lot of attention along the East Coast.

“It’s a mixtape about hustling and getting fly,” Yung Faucet said. ‘It’s about my lifestyle and what I live for. It’s about making ends meet with fly talk. It’s real drippy with melodic flows and nice bars, and the quality is crazy. The versatility on this project is ridiculous and I think it explains me to a T and really shows the world who Faucet is.”

More than anything else, Yung Faucet is best known for his energy. When it comes to his music, his delivery is so hype that people can’t help but jump up on their feet and respond to his passion. But that’s a characteristic that’s true of every walk of his life. Yung Faucet doesn’t know how to live a quiet life, and his infectious energy is such that almost anyone who meets him is inspired and motivated. He puts a smile on people’s faces and leaves them wanting to chase their own dreams with the same kind of passion that he displays.

“I’ve got genuine energy,” he said. “It’s no gimmick. When you talk to me and I’m hype, that’s me the whole way through. And you can catch that on every track. You’re gonna listen to me and say, ‘I love this guy! He’s so cool!’”

Yung Faucet first got his start in music while in high school. His personality was such that he was voted Mr. Popularity by his senior class and was given the “Most Likely To Succeed” award. That hard work paid off as the first mixtape he released gained major attention and helped him put his name on the map. Now following that up with a second mixtape, Yung Faucet said he hopes to become a household name over the course of the next year.

“I want my music to be known for being me,” he said. “This is really me. I’m telling you about all the good times and the bad times in energetic ways that will plug into people’s heads. I want people to remember me for my versatility. I’ve got nine different voices I can use, but it still sound like me. And mostly, I want to be known for my energy. That’s the best word to describe me. I am Mr. Energy. I’ve been fly my whole life and I’d like to be known for that before anything else.”

Sonen – All The Lights

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music

Synth-Pop duo SONEN launches new album with epic debut single ‘All The Lights’

ATLANTA, GA – SONEN is an Atlanta-based Electro-Pop duo whose resonant bass lines, vintage-tinged strings and harmonious male/female vocals come together to form a seductive, compelling sound that will consume listeners entirely and leave them sweaty and satisfied.

Made up of Keith Evans and Holly Mullinax, SONEN hails from ATL which has a rich underground music and art scene that is both inspiring and exciting, and it’s in that creative incubator that SONEN came to be. SONEN is both a Japanese and Swedish word, the former being a term that loosely translates to “innermost attitude” or the layer that exists between the conscious and subconscious mind, and the latter a more literal translation to son.

SONEN’s debut LP “Inside the Sun” put them on the map and gave them the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Diplo, STRFKR, Flying Lotus, Dam Funk, and Casio Kids. They’ve developed a reputation for “turning the kids into a sweaty mess,” according to The Big Beat. When the time came for SONEN to create their next full length, The Pink Moment, the group took a multifaceted approach to the project. The duo set out to capture the passion of their live performances and combine that rapturous energy with a more intimate, alluring tone; hoping to not only compel listeners to dance, but to move them to feel.

Conceptualized, written and recorded in two drastically different settings, the album reflects a dichotomy of influences that resulted from splitting time between their studio in the heart of Atlanta and a secluded lake house in the mountains of North Carolina.  The pink moment is a term used by Evans and Mullinax to describe the time when the sun falls behind the mountains during sunsets in NC; an instant when the sky creates a brilliantly pink hue and is described by Evans as having “an emotional and epic value we wanted to recreate in our music”.

“The Pink Moment” finds the band moving deep into the electronic realm yet tempering the harder edges with moaning analog synthesizers, carefully developed tension and purposeful melodies. The end result is a sound that is both thoughtfully dynamic and reflective of their evolution as artists and humans. In short, SONEN took some time to live and absorb their life experiences. “The Pink Moment” is a reflection of those junctures; a beautiful, poignant expression of life’s greatest adventures in love, loss and lessons learned.

The debut single from the project is a song called “All The Lights.” Setting the stage for the epic feeling of the album, “All The Lights” is a heartfelt, emotional buildup of a song that encourages listeners to reevaluate priorities and look to a different way of life. Currently available across all streaming platforms, the song showcases the beautiful harmonies between Keith and Holly over the top of a soaring Synth-Pop groove that invites audiences into a pace that won’t let go.

Sadbreed – Elstupido?!

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Texas Nu-Metal rapper offers hopeful message to those struggling with depression on new single ‘Elstupido?!’

DENTON, TX – If you’ve ever wanted to cray and mosh at the same time, Sadbreed is the artist for you. This young Nu-Metal artist from Denton, Texas has made a name for himself in the South and is set to propel onto the national stage with his new single “Estupido?!” Currently available across all streaming platforms, “Elstupido?!” is a mash-up of Hip Hop and Metal with a unique style that is purely original.

“It’s a song that captures who I am as an artist,” Sadbreed said. “It’s fueled by my emotions at the time I wrote it, when I was comparing myself to a lot of other artists. I felt like my music wasn’t doing great even though I was making monumental steps toward becoming a better artist and I had been making a bunch of songs that I thought were good. I had to remember to stop comparing myself to other people. So, basically I’m telling myself not to be stupid because when it comes to my music, there’s not a lot to compare to anyone else.”

Growing up, Sadbreed looked to Nu-Metal bands for comfort in a time where he felt like he didn’t fit in. He said he’s been through a lot of bad things in his life and has struggled with depression and mental illness for most of the past decade. Those struggles have been exacerbated by the loss of multiple close friends to suicide. But through it all, music has been a constant companion. While listening to lyrics, he said he could feel the emotions of the artists as if they were speaking directly to him, and that made him feel at ease with who he was at his core.

“Coming from a very harsh upbringing, my music is a pure expression of the pain and hardship I experienced,” he said. “I was abandoned as a child by my father and I went through a lot of physical and mental abuse. I had to endure a lot of people turning on me. The hardest battles brought me wanting to commit suicide, but music saved me. My dream is to get my music to people who also suffer from anxiety, PTSD and depression so that they know I’ve been there, too.”

Toward that end, Sadbreed is making a full album that addresses mental illness in a variety of ways. Staying true to his Nu-Metal style, “Die Like This” will be an album that explores a different sound of Hip Hop with a message that he hopes will go far and help a lot of people all over the world.

“Too many people are dying from suicide and depression,” he said. “I’m tired of it. I don’t want anyone in the world to have to know someone to die by suicide. This album will hopefully encourage anyone who has struggled to be an open book. Talk to me. DM me if you want. If you do, I promise you’ll get a response. I just want people to be OK, and a lot of times, especially nowadays – it feels like you’ll never be OK again. So, this album is hopefully going to help people to take that extra step and reach out to someone for help.”

Ellie Rivers – Leavin’

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Iowa born and raised Ellie Rivers is putting her own twist on Country Music

“LOS ANGELES, CA – Born and raised in the Midwest City of Ames, Iowa, Ellie Rivers couldn’t escape Country music even if she wanted to. Luckily, she couldn’t be happier to be putting her own twist on the sound that has always been close to her heart. While her smoky alto voice has been compared to artists such as Celine Dion, Amy Winehouse and Bobbie Gentrie, her music takes on an untouched aesthetic that others have labeled a “soulful twist on California meets Nashville.”

Rivers’ latest single, “Leavin, talks about finding your way through the end of a toxic relationship. It’s an empowering track that just cannot be beat. Co-written by Rivers and the artist Page, “Leavin” is what some artists would call ‘a creative download’.

We actually wrote the bones of the song from scratch in about 8 minutes. We had been working on another song all day, and as we were wrapping up the session, I started playing something on the piano without paying attention to it. We stopped talking for a second because we both tuned into what was being played. We hit record on my iPhone and 8 minutes later, we had the entire first verse, bridge and chorus. We ended up putting it away for a few months and then when I was going through a really toxic breakup, we pulled it back out, finished it up and gave it a little more direction. I guess you could say this song was foreshadowing my future the day we first wrote it.”

When you hear the richness of Rivers’ voice, you may wonder why you just heard of her now. Despite her love of music, she grew up in a home where singing outside of church or school was frowned upon. This did not, however, stop her from practicing what she loved and receiving classical training as a vocalist in school.

I have been singing since I opened my mouth, but I was only allowed to sing in church and we were only allowed to listen to Christian music, so I don’t have the typical background of growing up listening to different genres of music that a lot of musicians have.”

After high school, Rivers stopped singing completely for several years but deep down she always knew that music was what lights up her soul.

“I’ve decided to do what it takes to put my past behind me and follow my heart, to follow the music.”

Now Rivers hopes to bring her take on Country Pop music to the world. One silver lining of Covid has been the amount of time we’ve had to write and produce new music.

“Virtual sessions with songwriters that have #1 records under their belts and having my debut EP being produced by charting record producer N.O.C.N.Y. has been a dream come true!”

Rivers’ debut EP is set to release early 2021 and you can check out her latest single “Leavin” here:  https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/YA5M3iCQDJU1mQkV9

MR. Slade – This Is How We Make The Love

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

With a sound that shatters the stereotype, MR. Slade is an artist of his own design

TORONTO, CANADA – Being a musician that doesn’t prescribe to any preconceived idea of what should or shouldn’t be, MR. Slade has had the unique experience to create an image and a sound that is unmatched and all his own.

Slade did not come into performance in a conventional manner. His journey began when he started writing songs out of boredom andled himto working with other musicians and creating tracks that he could put out as his own. “I started writing songs unintentionally while at work and found people would hum along to them. Everyone started singing along to them and they were quite catchy. I decided that it was going to be a really cool, creative outlet so I put pen to paper and started writing music. I teamed up with a guitarist buddy of mine and we started creating music that way. Then during lockdown, we had a couple of songs written and ready to go and produce, I thought this might be a good time to go ahead and complete this project. I took advantage of the time and great music that was somewhat reflective of my experience during lockdown and something that I’m very passionate about.”

With music that is described as having elements of Heavy Metal, 80’s Metal, Electro, Disco and Pop Punk, MR. Slade has created a sound that is completely his own. “I love the aggressiveness of Metal and I love the sexiness of Dance music and Disco. I wanted to create something that was the combination of both of those things. I think previously when we think of Pop music or Dance music or Electro, it’s more fun. And when we think of Metal or Alternative, it’s a little bit more aggressive and borderline angry, but it’d be cool to create something that was aggressively sexy or aggressively dangerous or aggressively fun, if that makes sense.”

Being more influenced by visuals than anything, MR. Slade takes much of his inspiration from the things he sees rather than what he listens to. “I’m inspired by pictures, or movie scenes, or things like that. I am more so inspired by experiences and pictures and visuals than I happen to be by other musicians.

Slade puts out a new song just about every other month. With a growing collection of discography available, he is working on making his music accessible and relatable to everyone. “The timing is right. Most of my songs are about partying, going out, havingfun, meeting a stranger, going home with a stranger, things that we used to do. Now for three minutes and 23 seconds, you can kind of feel like you’re able to do that or remember what that’s like especially now with what’s going on, you hold onto that feeling. I think that’s quite important. I think entertainment or good art should involve a certain amount of escapism and self introspection so if you can kind of merge both of those together, it can be truly amazing.”

With the goal of working on connecting with his audience and growing his platform, MR. Slade wants his music to become the escape that people need. He plans to continue to release tracks every other month and plans to put out more visuals for each of those tracks.

QuiSoul – Shit on My Mind

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

QuiSoul is taking back the power with her latest EP 4

OAKLAND, CA – A fresh artist with a fire that can’t be put out, QuiSoul has recently released her latest EP titled “4”. This collection of tracks is undeniably relatable as it talks about taking back your power after a relationship ends badly.

For QuiSoul, her relationship with music began in church and grew to be something more when she decided to follow in her brother’s footsteps and begin making music of her own. “When I was younger I was singing in a church choir and focusing a lot on that. Four years ago I told my brother, who is a rapper, that I was writing music and that I wanted to do something with that and start releasing tracks. After that, I started to sing with him and feature on some of his songs, really just getting my feet wet with recording and learning more about the business and industry behind it.”

The name QuiSoul is more than just a catchy title. The artist behind the name went through a life altering experience at the age of 19 that truly opened her eyes. “Once I decided to do music, I felt that I had to be true to my soul. I was actually on Instagram one day and decided that I needed a new handle. I ended up with QuiSoul and my brother asked me, ‘Do you know everything that you’ve been through that you have to express that through your music? That is your artist name. You’re gonna use QuiSoul.’ So I just took him up on it, and here we are today.”

QuiSoul defines her sound as being a soulful and melodic R&B kind of sound. “I think that I have a really soulful sound, I would say it’s spirit first.” Much of her influence comes from the R&B artists of the 90’s. “I really love India.Arie. As a child growing up, I listened to a lot of her music. I also listened to a lot of Destiny’s Child and Keyshia Cole. I’m really like a 90’s baby, so I really like anything that is 90s as far as R&B and Hip Hop, I’m really just in awe of it.”

The EP that QuiSoul has recently released is called “4” and it is the journey of taking back your power after dealing with the rough experience of a bad breakup. With four tracks on the EP, each song has its own powerful meaning. “I was sick and tired of not being able to create or have fun while I am trying to understand who I am, so I wrote ‘Shit On My Mind’ just to let the world know that there’s other people that go through the same things as they do. ‘Be On My Way’ is the relationship story. I was in a relationship and was unknowingly the other woman, and he had to tell me that which was really hard. I wrote ‘Hats Off’ as my ego song. It’s a third person perspective of what I really go through on Instagram. It really takes you on a journey through the song. Finally, ‘Out Tonight’ is my wish for the pandemic to end. The idea is just that we have been through a lot and we need to go out.”

In the future, QuiSoul plans to release more music as well as the music video for “Be On My Way”. Fans can look out for the new album that she is starting to work on and should be excited for what is to come.
