Who Is CGE? ( @CGE312)

Music

With the rap game being dominated primarily by solo artists, we could very well be looking at the games next big group, Meet CGE, a rap duo based about 25 miles outside of Chicago.

JustTheOtherDay(Robert Smith Jr) & Dolo Blues(Markee Prude-Williams, ages 21 and 19 (CGE)

Think two man group, like  Rae Sremmurd, with the room presence of the Migos, but much more melodic like PNB Rock and A Boogie.  Imagine catchy, with dope cadences and flow like Roddy Rich, mixed with a passion for fashion like ASAP Rocky and slick thotiana girl talk like Blueface, yet still managing to stay in their own pocket. This would be a respectable way to describe CGE.

“CGE” stands for “Chase Guap Everyday”  which they describe as “more than a name”, it’s a way of life.   “We left school and cut off a lot of people to follow our dream” spoke Dolo Blues. “Man we putting everything we got into this’, he continued. We betting on ourselves. Just tired of struggling and want to make a way, and why not with music”.

The group takes pride in their work ethic and “no days off” approach.

JTOD says; “Everyday we putting in crazy work. We are very competitive and we try to out-work everybody.  When they partying , we working. We always working to get better and grow our brand”.

Although both artists were raised in a suburb just outside of Chicago,  circumstances growing up was anything but “suburban”.  Coming from low income, blue collar working families, the two found themselves turning to sports and music as a temporary escape.

The two actually met in 2011 playing youth football and have been friends since, even before the music.  The music became serious in 2017 and they’ve been on a mission since then.

After experiencing some local success and building a small fan base, the group began to brand themselves to broaden the awareness.

People are starting to hear about this dope new group from the Windy City.  The sound, swag and word-of-mouth is drawing in new fans on a daily basis.

To find out more about CGE and what they have going on, you can start by following them on all social media platforms and checking out their music and videos

[Single] TK Royale ‘Never Been Kissed’

Music

19-year old rapper/singer TK Royale was born Thunder Katsumi Prince in Brooklyn, NY. After losing her parents in a tragic car accident at the age of 3, Thunder was raised by the Japanese grandmother she was named after, who would eventually pass away from stomach cancer in the Spring of 2018.

Reeling from her loss, Thunder was invited to relocate to Los Angeles to live with her older cousin Toia, an aspiring songwriter and co-founder of indie record label ERN Media. It was this musically inclined relative who encouraged Thunder to use music as an outlet to productively channel her rage and grief. Poring through hundreds of hours of 90’s and 2000-era Hip-Hop and R&B, this diverse palette served to help TK craft a style that, despite only having a year of experience under her belt, has already drawn comparisons to heavyweights such as Lauryn Hill, Rapsody, Rah Digga and Black Thought.

Also known as “Thunderkat”, TK’s music reveals an artistic and intellectual maturity far beyond her years, combining thought-provoking lyrics with the occasional “ratchetness” one would expect from someone who isn’t even old enough to drink yet.

[Video] @OfficialJonB ‘Priceless’

Videos

Veteran singer Jon B. has been a bit quiet on the new music front since releasing his standout single “Understand” with Donell Jones earlier this year. The song was an extremely successful return single and really maxed out the anticipation for a long awaited new album.

jonb2

The singer has now returned with another new single called “Priceless”. He shared a preview of the song and video on his official Instagram account which you can watch below. The song and video was released in full on his birthday today, November 11th.

Although we can only hear a small portion of the song, it certainly has that Jon B. trademark swagg on it we’ve become accustomed to over the years. Now, the wait is really on not only for the new single, but for the new album.

In case you missed it, in a recent interview with youknowitgotsoul.com’s website, he discussed his single with Donell Jones, when to expect a new album, and much more.

From the video, we can see that our boy is on point, with hooks that thrill, this track, like so many of his past, will make the floors move in many a dance clubs. Jon B’s Priceless is just that.

[Video] Snoop “A Demon Low Beat”

Videos

Snoop has always lived life as an ‘X-Factor’. Hailing from Port Richmond territory of Staten Island, the borough’s crime capital, Snoop was only an adolescent when he discovered the underlying motif which would come to define his life and his music; a refusal to die.

Snoop quickly realized that the chaos which had come to define his external reality, gang-affiliated since the age of 7, a criminal record before a high school diploma, as a one-way street towards obscurity.

Naturally adept at communicating his story through rumbling drums couples with hyper aggressive, quick-fire rhymes, Snoop is frenetic, charged, and uncompromising. The Demon Low front man is also a start reflection of New York City’s rising underground streets music scene, while carrying the kinds of quirks that have come to define Southern trap rappers.

Having gained major traction in his hometown in less than a year into his career, Snoop has received co-signs from DJs at Hot 97, New York City’s premier urban radio station, while simultaneously amassing a combined 100,000 plays on his 2018 release “Geeked Up” (feat $quidnice). Snoop’s rapid-fire ascension speaks directly toward his charm: it’s not flashy; it’s abrasive. It’s not gloomy; it’s grim. This balancing act of neighboring but still distant ideologies is what shines through in every aspect of his personality, life, and music, serving as the foundation of his “Demon Low” persona and brand.
