ValenciaP Turns Over New Leaf on Transformation

ValenciaP remembers where she’s been. The past remains close to her heart. But more than that, she understands the power of the future. Letting go of what used to be and seeking what will be. A changing season… Metamorphosis… ValenciaP is an artist in transition. She’s become something entirely new. Fans can recognize this palpable sense of transition in ValenciaP’s butterfly logo. “I was shy,” she revealed. “I promised myself I would never be homeless again. When I started writing and producing music, I saw a caterpillar at my front door. I took that as a sign that I was becoming something different. I’d been changed into ValenciaP, the artist.”

Her album Transformation (out April 5 and pre-orders April 1) finds a ValenciaP charting unmapped territory. Though she grew up singing in the youth choir, it wasn’t until she began writing her material that she felt called beyond comfort. “As a kid, I would make up beats with my hands,” she said. “When I got older, I started doing music on my own. Around 2007, I started doing beats on my own (on the computer) and writing. 2020 was the first time I produced music. I wanted to express my feelings about stuff that’s out there in the world.”

ValenciaP unveiled the Transformation track “Try Me” as her introduction to the world. The serendipitous track carries magic that awaits discovery. “One day I was just mixing,” said ValenciaP. “Practicing with using some beats and loops and stuff. I heard that beat and I loved it! I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, I love that! That’s fire!’ So, I went with it. Then I thought about the Ying Yang Twins. I said, ‘I should whisper in this song.’ And that made it even better.”

Though the Transformation album itself represents ValenciaP following her dreams, other references to dreams abound. Tracks like “Adam & Eve” and “Cinderella Never-Ending Love Story” detail astral encounters with a soul-mate-to-be. “I’ve had recurring dreams about a man I’ve never met,” explained ValenciaP. That’s what ‘Adam & Eve’ is about. Being in love with someone you’ve never met.”

As a self-taught musician and author, ValenciaP is entirely a one-woman show. Aside from music, her artistic journey also includes film production. “I’m hoping to make my movies one day and do music videos and stuff like that,” said ValenciaP. “But music is my passion. I love being creative. The trouble would get someone to work with my creativity. But I think it would help my music. And it would help me be more extroverted.”

Besides the Transformation album release, ValenciaP will also perform via a live stream. Fans can catch her at the ITNS Radio Showcase Showdown April 16 – April 19. Tickets start at $5.

Johnny Brooks – Quiet

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Johnny Brooks continues legacy of making hits with latest single ‘Quiet’

MIAMI, FL – Johnny Brooks takes melodic rapping to another level. The multitalented artist from Miami, Florida has been building music from the ground up for the past decade, creating unique sounds and styles for Hip Hop purists and those filling the record shops, concert halls and lyricist lounges around the world. With head-nodding hooks and a genuine ease on a track, his music captures the attention of the staunchest supporters of old-school Hip Hop mixed with contemporary sensibilities.

His latest single, “Quiet” was released on March 23, and is the perfect example of how this seasoned veteran of the industry makes some of the highest-quality music in the game today. Produced by Rico Santana, the smooth Hip Hop groove is the most organic creation of his career. Unlike most of the other songs he’s crafted in years ‘past, “Quiet” was born in the moment from a beat that Santana put on one day in the studio and Brooks just improvised on the spot.

“I just started going off the dome, basically,” he said. “It just came out naturally. I didn’t think much about it – when I heard the beat he made, I just started flowing. It was extremely organic, and I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s about a girl who disappeared on a guy out of the blue and the strong connection between them. The fire died out over time and the guy never understood why. He goes on a quest to find out where she went and to try to re-ignite the flame and remind her that they have a spark that can’t be found anywhere else.”

The St. Maarten-bred Brooks was born into a musical family and is no stranger to late nights in the studio. His parents opened the first professional recording studio in St. Maarten in 1984, and throughout his childhood, he was able to rub shoulders with some of the best up-and-coming artists of the Caribbean. He also got a front-row seat to the process of making hits, and his hands-on education paid off over the years as he gradually developed a signature style of his own. With strong roots in Reggae and the pedigree of his surname, it would have been easy for Brooks to continue the tradition in the stylings of the Caribbean. But experiencing the polar opposite lifestyles between the affluence of his white mother and the trenches of his black father, Brooks opted to venture in a different direction with his musical talents by way of Hip Hop – the language of his generation. Immersing himself in the popular sounds of Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie and Tupac, he began to create hits like “Thoughts Never Die” and “Test the Potency,” which resonated with an ever-widening global fanbase.

“My music is just feel-good vibes,” he said. “It’s therapeutic. That’s what I’m aiming for and hoping to bring to the table when I’m creating these songs – some kind of positive impact to the listener. As such, there probably won’t ever be a ‘perfect touch,’ but there will always be a vibe that you feel. That’s why I’m able to create and just flow. I’m demonstrating to the world that I can create a vibe for you that you can enjoy.”

Following “Quiet,” Brooks said he has plans to release another single called “Landscape” which should come out this summer.

Ygk Drako – Show Off

YGK Drako drops energetic Trap groove with new single ‘Show Off’

LITTLE ROCK, AR – For Justin Utsey, music has always been a way to escape, stay positive and connect with people who share his similar story. Troubled by a rough life growing up on the streets of the south side of Little Rock, Arkansas, this young artist who goes by the stage name YGK Drako turned to boxing, and fighting became a mainstay throughout much of his younger years. But in 2007, he discovered a love for music and found that he had a natural talent for creating unique sounds and styles that others seemed to love. Music became his escape from a life of crime, and he hasn’t looked back since.

His latest single, “Show Off,” is a chill, mellow vibe with a Trap groove that is one of the hottest tracks he’s ever created. Currently available across all digital streaming platforms, the song has a catchy energy that pairs perfectly with his bars as he raps about anything and everything that might cross his path on a daily basis.

“This is me showing what I can do while trying to reinvent myself,” he said. “I just wanted to change some things up and show people my new self. I’m rapping about money and jewelry and cars and being from the hood, and just all the everyday things I’ve seen. I’m just trying to be myself and stay original. I don’t try to keep up with whatever anyone else is doing. I’m just being true to who I am.”

YGK Drako said one of the things that helps him stand out from the midst of a crowded music industry is his unique voice. Inspired by legends like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Future, YGK Drako fuses his Rap with a wide variety of other styles from various other genres. He credits artists like Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Adele, and Justin Bieber as just a few of the musicians who have helped to expand his appreciation for good music.

“Like them, I just want to be known as a great artist,” he said. “Anything you hear from me is gonna be something hype. I’m looking to do this for the rest of my life because this is truly something I’m passionate about. I’ve never heard another artist with my voice, and I’m ready for the world to hear it.”

Following “Show Off,” YGK Drako said he has another single called “Curry” set to drop in March.

New Music: Vi City – OnGOD Featuring Harv

Vi City Releases A Hot New Single “OnGOD” Featuring Harv

One of Chicago’s very own, Vi City, originally from the south side in the “Wild Hundreds” known to us as “Wild Wild” or the “Wild Hunnits”, is back on the music scene. Crafting a sound that captures the pain and hope of a youth striving to make a better way, combined with the ambition and skills to actually have made it out, the celebratory tones reign supreme on this wave of sound for the veteran rapper, songwriter and producer.

Vi’s introduction to the game came via working with Mathaus Ent. & Chilly of the 1st & 15th label in conjunction with Lupe Fiasco. Shortly after, he connected with DJ Skee to release a mixtape under Skee’s Skeeter’s TV label. His next stint came working with St. Louis’ own, Nelly, co – penning the hit Country N**** Fly (CNF).

In the midst of acquiring a deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), Vi wrote and featured on “Some Ish” by Sir Michael Rocks ft. Twista off of his #1 debut solo album “Banco.” Along the way, he co-produced and wrote with the iconic producer duo Da Interz (Tuo Clark & Kosine) combining with them to work on projects for Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Nas. Vi also has music placed on the hit show Empire.

Prior to deciding to drop new music of his own, Vi founded and branded Hundreds Entertainment, a music and film production firm of which he signed talented artist, Phoînix Keyz out of St. Louis, MO and has started crafting Phoînix’ debut project around each of the 6 instruments he plays.

Aj Angels – Check In

Industry Spotlight, Music

AJ Angels inspires others with new introspective EP ‘Iso’

DENVER, CO – Separated…  Alone … Isolated…

That’s how Denver artist AJ Angels has felt at times throughout his life and it’s in those moments that he always turns to music. The power of artistic expression has played out multiple times in his life in a myriad of ways, and it’s that power that he wants to capture and share with the world through his new EP “Iso.”

The project explores what it means to take a moment and check in with yourself. It’s about his mentality during those isolated moments and the motivating factors that happen in life to derail us from our dreams.

“It’s about asking yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing and why you’re chasing whatever it is that you’re chasing,” AJ said. “It’s about looking back and seeing how much progress you’ve made. For myself, I have the pedal down right now and a lot of times I feel like I have to drive this road alone. But that’s OK because I have to chase this dream and I’m focused on that.”

The idea for the project came about while he was checking into a hotel a few months back. He found himself almost in an out-of-body experience, looking down at his life in that moment and wondering what it was that led to him feeling so alone. So as he checked into a hotel, he also checked in on himself and began to reminisce on the progress of his life and the things around him. As he sat in his room, those introspective thoughts became words on a page which eventually turned into the debut single from the album, “Check In.”

“It’s kind of mellow and really echoes a lot of what I’m talking about on this project,” AJ said. “There’s an all-audio track to start the project, then you get ‘Check In’. But by track 3, things are more uplifting and fun and you’re enjoying life. I have some great choreography I want to put with some of those later songs on the EP, and we’re getting ready to film a video for ‘Check In’ later this month.”

The last three songs on the EP are “Witness,” “Little People” and “Arise” – all of which are inspirational and upbeat, with lyrics that demand attention. “Little People” in particular is one of the stronger tracks on the project as it pushes listeners to remember the “little people” in life and acknowledge that all of us are in some way little people, no matter how far we go in life or how much we succeed.

“And then I end with ‘Arise’ where I’m talking about my view on how I’m seeking something that makes me want to keep going,” AJ said. “I’m always seeking more and with this song, I’m touching on the fact that I’m single again and how I’m focused on my music. It’s about something I’m seeking and how it’s hard for me to put energy into something else. So I’m putting energy into what I think is working.”

Through all of his music, AJ’s unique sound and style reflects influence from the West African heritage that was instilled in him as a child growing up with immigrant parents. His taste in music and his sound has always had a foreign touch, and it’s that subtle blend that AJ thinks sets him apart from others in the industry today.

“At the end of the day, I want my music to be known for being real and inspiring,” he said. “That’s big for me. What I’m talking about a lot is finding self-progress in my music. There are a lot of people around me who don’t think I can have a version of success. But if there’s one thing to pick up from my music it’s that I’m being real and I’m showcasing how anyone can have a journey of success. Don’t worry if what you’re doing is right or wrong – if you love it, go all-in and see how things work out. If you’re 100 percent authentic and real, you can impact an unknown number of people’s lives. There are many times when I’ll never know how much my music impacts someone, but I can always count on being a positive impact on others if I’m being 100 percent real myself.”

Yung HD – Faces

Blog, Industry Spotlight, Music

Yung HD follows success of first album
with killer follow-up ‘Bars From Mars Too’

ATLANTA, GA – Jeffrey Childress was almost literally born into music. Some of his very first memories are of times spent in his father’s recording studio. Joe Da Boss had his own record label and would often bring his son to the studio with him. At age 9, Childress was able to lay some snares down on a beat for one of his father’s artists, and he even got a production credit for it. Over the years, he ate, slept and breathed music, and a nickname quickly emerged for him throughout the neighborhood: Yung Hood.

As he grew older and developed his own unique sound and style, that name evolved into Yung HD – a name that not only nods to his past and the extensive training he’s had in the music industry but also draws attention to the clarity and excellence of his voice. It’s like high definition.

Today, Yung HD is riding a wave of success off recent releases, and he’s set to take his brand to the next level with his new album “Bars From Mars Too.” It’s a continuation of his first album “Bars From Mars” with songs and vibes that take his sound to the next level. Since dropping the album on May 3, he has already seen more than 200,000 streams. It’s worth mentioning that before releasing “Bars From Mars Too” Yung HD signed to White Velvet Records.

“It’s a project that’s all about my life and the things I was going through at the time I created the first album and how I’ve overcome all of that,” Yung HD said. “It’s a little bit of everything – upbeat tracks and laid-back tracks and just this new wave I’m on. I use auto-tune to make it sound good and you can understand everything I’m saying. I got a message behind what I’m saying. I’m not talking about drugs and money and stuff like that, but the struggles of being an independent artist and making everything work together. If you keep pushing, you’ll have something to show for it.”

Though this is only his second official album, Yung HD has been making music professionally for years. He released his first project “Smoke Music” in his late teens and since then has opened for people like Rick Ross, Curen$y, Rittz, Tuki Carter, Raz Simone, Twisted Insane, Three 6 Mafia, Whitney Peyton, Trinidad James and many more. He has also started his own label, Twist Up Entertainment LLC and co-founded it with Joshua A1 Owens. Under this independent label, Yung HD said he has brought together an elite team of artists, producers, directors, designers, managers and entrepreneurs – each member being a leader and offering something unique and beneficial to the team.

One such collaboration includes Ronnie Reed, who is featured on the song “Wasting Time,” which is the debut single from Yung HD’s new album. Described as a “laid-back track for the females,” the single is about picking up a girl late at night and having a good time. Yung HD said he and Ronnie Reed connected through a music video project some years back and immediately clicked through similar interests in music. In addition to their work together on “Wasting Time,” they’ve also collaborated on two other songs – one on Yung HD’s previous album and one on Ronnie Reed’s album.

JoeCash – Big Money

ME Blog, Music, Promo

JoeCash is set to drop 11th album ‘Art Money’ on Oct. 4

ALBANY, NY – When you listen to JoeCash’s music, it’s impossible not to feel the raw emotion dripping off his bars. People connect with his music. They feel his struggles and his happiness. They join him on his journey through pain and power. They see the stuff he’s been through or the people he’s interacted with. They feel his stress, his relationship problems, and his good times. And what they feel through his music reflects similar emotions from their own lives in ways that make them keep coming back for more.

It’s this connection with audiences all over the world that has helped JoeCash to have such a long career in music. Since age 12, he’s been writing raps and laying down bars with high success. And on Oct. 4, he’s set to continue that wave of success with the release of his 11th album, “Art Money.”

The eight-track album features themes that explore what it takes to be successful in life and “get that money.” JoeCash said he wanted to explore the joy of buying expensive stuff as a reward to hard work paying off. Since releasing his first album in 2001, he has had multiple tours and shows and has worked hard to achieve the success that he enjoys today. “Art Money” is a celebration of that success, told across a diverse range of vibes that is equal parts laid-back and hard-hitting street lyrics.

“I’m unique, I’m genuine, there’s no fraudulent with me,” JoeCash said. “I stand out from the crowd. I have passion. When they hear that off-the-hill- Joe sound, they’ll know immediately that it’s me. I’ve always been trying to get up and come up, always been on the paper chase. People started calling me JoeCash because of that since I was young, and so I used it as a rap name.”

He said he’s worked hard to develop a truly original sound, and has studied some of the greats over the years to see what they’ve done to attain success. He points to artists like the Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Biggie and Tupac as some of his favorites. He also lived in Hinesvile, Georgia for a time and said he learned a lot from artists such as Pastor Troy and Jeezy.

Today, with “Art Money,” he hopes to bring together all of the things he’s learned from those legends alongside all of the things he’s learned from the past 18 years of making music into one great project that will catapult across the country. It’s a gritty tale of survival in the urban communities that he said is sure to satisfy a wide audience.

Chevy Quis – Shotgun

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Promo

Ride shotgun with passionate emcee Chevy Quis and his new single “Shotgun”

LOS ANGELES, CA – Chevy Quis, in conjunction with Ivree Productions, will hold a rooftop Release Party to launch Chevy’s new single, “Shotgun” atop the Ivree Production building in Hollywood on July 17. “Shotgun” is a west coast style cruising track, described by the artist as a trendy and witty lyric rhyme-scape blended with R&B vocal harmonies and tongue-twisting rap schemes.

The song takes inspiration from Chevy’s two sets of parents, both married for over a decade. His mother and stepmother are women who are fully supportive of their men. Describing his own ideal partner, the song celebrates having that ride or die chick that is just for him. “Riding shotgun by my side” – she is down for him 110% no matter the situation.

Chevy’s music combines a modern day R&B sound with melodic rapping. Showcasing his ability to switch it up, Chevy uses different variations of his rhyming with tempo twists and turns, adding a little sparkle and shine from the R&B side to hip hop beats.

Chevy is one artist of an independent group of artists known as the Famous Gang Entertainment (F.G.E.) Group. They grew up together in Minnesota and worked on several successful projects together. Taking a risk, the twelve artists made the 27 hour drive out to California nearly a year ago. Not all of them are still in California but those who remain are still pushing and making music.

He expresses his creativity by communicating his message in different and unique ways which allow listeners to relate to him as an artist. Chevy is working on the follow up to his 2018 debut album, “Epitome 1” which will feature music written since his arrival in California. He also plans to continue dropping singles and make a music video for “Shotgun.”

The book, “The Law of Attraction” changed Chevy’s way of thinking about how to take control of his life, how he could attract what he wanted, and to live life according to his calling. Chevy wants to encourage others to keep pushing. “Be the creator of the world that you live in. Go hard for what you wanna get in life, and go hard for what you want. Don’t ever let nobody tell you no. If somebody tells you “no”, convince them otherwise.”
