International producer blends bevvy of sounds for original style on new single ‘Cocaine Dreams’

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – Pennyweather is a producer and songwriter from Brisbane, Australia whose talent not only includes crafting infectious songs that straddle the Pop and Indie divide, but who is also known for finding amazing international artists to collaborate with. His latest hit single, “Cocaine Dreams,” a collaboration with Polar Beats, is a perfect example of this one-two punch of artistry. Featuring vocalist Christian Enjel, “Cocaine Dreams” is an ethereal vibe that mixes Hip Hop and Pop elements for a mellow groove ready-made for kicking back and chilling. It’s a song about the euphoria of finding someone who is your soul mate and who promises you the world. Through twists and turns of fate and without any warning whatsoever, that person leaves you and it’s over. The song explores the extreme emotional swings of highs and lows that come with some relationships.

Pennyweather said, “It’s about finding and trusting someone to love, the high of that connection and the feeling of abandonment and isolation when it crumbles through your fingers and turns to dust. The questions, the replaying of conversations, and the desperate attempt to bury the pain and rise again…”
The song, which was released on all streaming platforms at the end of 2020, is a precursor to three new releases Pennyweather has slated for the first half of 2021. He’s been building a steady international audience since he launched his first solo project in April 2020 on which he showcased an ability to master everything from soulful R&B, to minimalist Pop, to good-time grooves that evoke images of artists such as The Wknd, Khalid, Billie Eilish, Post Malone and even Ariana Grande. ROCKDAFUQOUT described his style as “an interesting blend between commercial appeal and indie flare, carving a lane of his own one track at a time.”

“Music is just a burning passion for me,” he said. “I don’t really have any control over it to stop. It’s the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about at night. I’m trying to channel those energies into something productive and make something of it. As people start to become familiar with my work, they will come to expect the unexpected, always switching up moods and styles and not being scared to move outside the traditional Pop themes of love and sex. At the end of the day, I make well-crafted Pop and Indie songs that people can really get their teeth and ears into.”

Pennyweather said the first of the next three tracks is about a month away from release. It’s called “Killed My Love” and has a definitive Wknd vibe in that it’s dark, sexy, and perfect for late night vibes. Another track called “There With You” will follow shortly after. It’s a song about the ache of missing someone and has more of a Maroon 5 feel to it. The last of the trio of songs he has planned for release in the coming months is “Big, Big Love, which is a Pop and Dance song about finding that special someone who gives you more love than you’ve ever had before.

Kara Griffis – Don’t Let Go

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Singer/Songwriter Kara Griffis uses pure, angelic voice to connect with fans on new single ‘Don’t Let Go’

DALLAS, TX – Kara Griffis has always been a musician … it runs in her blood. Her father and uncle were founding members of The Ghost Riders, a 70s-era Country band that had a well-known jamboree and which cut multiple records over their lifetime. But even with that musical pedigree running through her veins, it wasn’t until a flash of inspiration in 2012 that she first put pen to paper and wrote her first couple of songs. She loved the experience but never fully pursued music as a career until 2020 gave her an opportunity to reflect and fully dive into a career as a singer/songwriter. Out of that process comes a new EP, the first single of which is currently available across all streaming platforms.

“Don’t Let Go” is the debut track from Griffis’ forthcoming project. It’s one of the first two songs she wrote back in 2012, and yet it serves as a great reflection of her life’s experiences in recent years. Showcasing an angelic voice that pairs perfectly against an elegantly simple Country-infused Indie artist vibe, “Don’t Let Go” is a song that many people in the world will be able to relate with in that it explores the missteps one often takes in life and the lessons learned along the way.

“Essentially, it’s a song about spiritual struggle and missteps and hoping you don’t step too far out of bounds in life,” Griffis said. “It’s the title song for the EP, and the overall idea is a petition of God not to let go of me or give up on me. The song itself is very mellow with acoustic guitar and a laid-back, introspective vibe. It’s the second song I ever wrote and still maybe my favorite song.”

Griffis said that songwriting for her is a very personal and raw experience, and when she puts her voice to the words, the effect is a very pure and sweet sound that an ever-widening audience of fans have found pleasing. Griffis showcases a raw, natural talent that isn’t overly produced and evokes thoughts of influences like Alison Kraus, The Weepies, Kacey Musgraves, Kari Jobe and even Taylor Swift. She adeptly weaves words around complicated emotions and delivers songs that resonate with people in truly tangible ways.

“The stronger the emotion is, the more a song flows really quickly out of me,” she said. “A lot of my songs are in the spiritual realm, or about relationships, or dealing with things you struggle with in life – like rejection or messing up on something or disappointment or grief. What’s been surprising to me is how personal they are for other people, as well. There’s some kind of universal meaning to them. I hear a lot of feedback from people saying they’ve found a lot of meaning through my music which is very encouraging because more than anything, I hope my music is known for helping people process through their own struggles and knowing that they aren’t the only people going through that.”

5D Crew – Camila

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

5D Crew aims to usher in great awakening with new album ‘Story of Souls’

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – From an inspirational thought of music healing transformation, 5D Crew was created. This music project for the great awakening has taken off like a rocket of creative juices forming a large collection of songs.

“Story of Souls,” released under their group name 5D Crew and released through their own indie label, Studio 11 Entertainment, the album delivers healing dance floor vibes alongside their New Age Pop-Hop music. It’s a melting pot of musical tones and flavors that should satisfy anyone’s musical sweet tooth and leave a lingering brain-invading hook.

Gordon said. “There’s a great awakening that’s been happening and we’ve been moving into a 5D reality.

The two came from different music journeys. Gordon has spent time building a Juno Award winning studio in Winnipeg that Kanye West visited back in 2007.  Starr has been a leading worldwide spiritual healer and a master of raising consciousness through a process he calls Shadowwork. Together, they’ve developed a fusion of different sounds, from Latin to Pop to Rock to EDM and everything in between.

“That’s what makes the project interesting,” Starr said. “Jason is channeling the music and lyrics while I’m channeling the healing energy to put into the songs. But at the end of the day, we’re making music for the great awakening and helping people shift into that 5D reality.

Three singles from the projects have been gaining a lot of traction from fans. The first is a Latin Pop song called “Camila” that was inspired by their mutual admiration for Latin Pop artist Camila Cabello.  The second is “Future of Love,” a futuristic vibe that explores what might happen if everyone had their own sex robot.  The third is perhaps the most timely and introspective. “My Number One” was written just as the world was going into a lockdown.  Starr said “There was a lot of negativity going on and we wanted to write a tribute to our daughters we are so grateful for.

Gordon and Starr have an undeniable connection when it comes to crafting songs together.  They look forward to sharing more music with their fans in the coming years ahead.

The album is currently available across all streaming platforms.

Tora Woloshin – America

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Tora Woloshin offers stripped-down vulnerable single while making plea for change in new song ‘America’

ALAMEDA, CA – After nearly a decade of high production, the glitz and glamor of Hollywood and multiple world tours, International artist Tora Woloshin is bringing a stripped down version of her music that showcases a more vulnerable side of her artistry.

Her new EP “America” is just her and the piano. That’s quite an intimate offering from an artist who has enjoyed the biggest limelight available to a musician. She first came to notoriety as a finalist on The X Factor USA where she was mentored by Simon Cowell. That happened in 2011 and in the years since she signed with a label and did multiple tours worldwide. She worked with major artists such as Jim Jones and Timbaland, and performed on stage with artists such as B.o.B., Ne-Yo, Flo Rida, Method Man, Pink, and more.

The high production value of her past work is nothing like what she’s bringing with “America,” and that’s intentional. She said at this point in her career, she’s matured both as an artist and a woman. She wants her music to reflect that in intimate and authentic ways. So as she lays down melodies on the piano, she’s also letting loose some raw emotion with the incredible vocals she’s become known for over the years.

“It’s very intimate,” she said. “it’s very raw. There are no special effects on my voice. It’s very personal, and I think it will be personal for a lot of other people, too.”

The first single from the project is “America” and the music video is slated to drop on Feb.14. Tora said it’s her “love song to America” and serves as both an expression of her frustrations of what’s been happening to America in cycles since the country first was formed, and a deeply passionate plea to her fellow Americans to love and respect the freedoms we have and great opportunities we enjoy.

She’ll follow that with the Anarobic animated music video on July 4 to go along with the release that Tora said is in the same vein as the art of the adult animated classic “Family Guy.” The song will delve deeper into the story that she starts with the first single. It doesn’t hold back on its challenge to the world to take a new perspective when it comes to the oppression of government on American citizens.

“It’s very political,” she said. “The government is suffocating the American people and we can’t breathe. They keep doing things to people and it’s just a shame. We’re exploiting a lot of the corruption in the video. I’m trying to make a change through my music. I know a lot of messages get sent through music, but too many artists today are sending out the wrong messages. I think people need to start being shown better music that teaches and helps and guides and inspires.”

The final single from the EP is “Eclipse” which deviates in subject matter from the first two singles. It’s more of a love song and serves as a vehicle for Tora’s vulnerability in romantic relationships. She said it’s a song that metaphorically says we need to watch each other and love each other and unite through the hardships of life.  The “Eclipse” music video together with the EP is already available across streaming platforms.

Kami Elrod – Bluebirds

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

New single featuring haunting vocals of Kami Elrod offers hope in the face of emotional pain

COLUMBIA, MD – There are a lot of people in the world living in pain – sometimes emotional, sometimes physical, and sometimes both. That deep pain is the source of inspiration for Julie Elrod and her new single “Bluebirds.” Featuring the ethereal vocals of her daughter, Kami Elrod alongside the creative flow of notorious rapper Lost Angel of Havik, the song explores the depths of pain and offers a new perspective for those who deal with it on a daily basis.

I’ve had nine knee surgeries, a hip replacement, and two failed spine fusions in my life and I live in constant pain,” said Julie Elrod who also owns one of the biggest karate schools in Maryland. “The words in the song are based on how I feel a lot of the time. It’s a sad song because it’s about a guy who wants to be with his mom who has passed away, and he’s in emotional pain. People have pain they live with, and this is a song they can identify with. It hits straight to the core.”

The song bounces back-and-forth between Kami Elrod’s singing and Lost Angel of Havik’s rapping. The lyrics were written by Julie Elrod with some additional writing credits from her son, Wyatt Wayne, and Lost Angel of HavikThe original beat was produced by Rock It Productions but was re-invented by Elrod, who had violin, cello, and piano tracks added in

Julie Elrod said she’s always had a love for writing music, and though the Karate studio has been her primary business for the past 36 years, she’s always dabbled in writing music. When the studio was forced to shut down because of the lockdown associated with the global pandemic, she put most of her time and energy into writing as many songs as she could. “Bluebirds” is the first but will be followed by other songs that she plans to release in 2021.

“I want people to hit home and identify with my music,” she said. “I also want to showcase my daughter’s voice which is hauntingly beautiful. Kami’s voice is mesmerizing, and I love to listen to it over and over. But I also want people to relate to the words in the song and find meaning in it. I want them to know they’re not alone and that we recognize the pain and depression that so many people feel. A lot of people are in that same position. Just because people are smiling on the outside doesn’t mean you know what they’re going through on the inside.”

Hit-maker Cristal Carrington rides wave of success
with string of Pop single releases in 2020

BALTIMORE, MD – When you look at Cristal Carrington’s body of work, there’s one thing that’s strikingly clear: she makes hits!

As a singer/songwriter in the Pop and Techno realm, Carrington fell in love with EDM and its fusion of R&B, Rap, Rock & Roll, and Nu-Disco. She’s been surrounded by groundbreaking music for the better part of the past decade and always wanted to mesh different genres into intriguing new grooves. In 2020, she’s further explored that progressive style with a handful of singles that range from the dance-inspired track “Dance with You” to the inspiring and thought-provoking tune “Running Out of Time.”

Inspired by the anxiety-inducing experiences of 2020, “Running Out of Time” is a Pop track with an upbeat vibe that’s juxtaposed against lyrics that are at times melancholy and introspective.

“It’s about the anxiety that comes from the stuff we’re going through right now with the pandemic,” Carrington said. “Everything is in disarray. People are feeling stressed out and frustrated. And at the end of the day, we need to unify and come together. So this is a song that’s pleading for better days.”

If nothing else, “Running Out of Time” is a single that will show the world that Carrington is the next big thing. She’s about to blow up and she’s ready to take it to another level. Her music is so diverse that it’s impossible to put her in a box. She can spit bars, she can create EDM jams, she can bring a soulful style, and she can, of course, create music that is both relatable and commercially viable.

Carrington began her entertainment career as an intern for Universal Records, doing promotions for artists such as Lil Wayne, Maino, Chamillionaire, David Banner, and Remy Ma. Soon, her love of music landed her an intern producer spot for the popular radio station WPGC 95.5 FM in the Washington, D.C. market. As her career developed and she began to create her own music, she was highlighted in some major magazines such as Medium, Vents Magazine and Hollywood Digest. She soon became known as a highly talented artist who was bringing a new voice to Pop music by creating songs to please audiences of all ages.

“I make hits,” she said. “Every song I make has to be structured to be a hit. It has to be something made ready for the radio. I’ve got a growing audience right now and I want to keep that momentum going and reach for higher levels.”

Some other Pop songs that Carrington has created this year and which are currently streaming across all digital platforms include: “I Believe In Your Love,” “Another Way of Life,” “Player” and “See You Dance.”

Mr. Buddy – Fonqwitus

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Mr. Buddy perfectly captures essence of Funk with latest single ‘Fonqwitus

JACKSONVILLE, FL – In a world full of 808s and Trap beats, Mr. Buddy is bringing a different kind of swing. His music is something that can’t be labeled because it’s new age, but at the same time his funkalicious swag has a familiar flavor that is reminiscent of some of the greats like Heavy D or George Clinton.

That funky swag is showcased on his latest single “Fonqwitus” which is currently available across all streaming platforms. The song opens with a throwback kind of sound that soon introduces a funky beat that’s so catchy it practically oozes with joy. It’s impossible to listen to this song and not bounce and bop to the groove that Mr. Buddy creates. True to his name, this comedian-turned-musician puts a smile on the faces of anyone who listens to his latest track.

“I wanted to make a song that was big enough and good enough to get people to get up and dance and party and have a good time, especially with what we’re going through with the Corona Virus,” Mr. Buddy said. “It’s a song that allows you to have your own personal party at home. It’s not the cliché rapping-about-guns-or-girls-or-money kind of song. It’s just simply about having a good time. I wanted to make music that children who grew up like me could listen to with their parents. There’s no curse words or sexual innuendos, just good clean fun music that allows everyone to have a good time.”

Fonqwitus” is the perfect song to showcase the unique sound and style from this fast-rising artist from the south. Though it’s the first single he’s ever released publicly, it’s not the first music he’s created in his life. In fact, he’s always had a musical background dating back to his time in elementary school. The second oldest of five children, Mr. Buddy is part of a music-loving family. His father, who plays bass guitar, introduced him to music, while his mother sings and plays the flute. As he grew older, he began to learn as many different instruments as he could – from piano and drums to trumpet and more.

“My background is in Jazz, but my sound has an influence of the 70s, 80s and 90s and includes Funk, Disco, Big Band, Hip Hop, Classic, Alternative Rock, Neo-Soul, and even Country,” he said. “I love the thick chords and phat basslines that come with Funk music. The funkier the better. With an upbringing in the church and with giants like Will Smith as an example, I pride myself in creating fun, clean music that all people can enjoy.”

Kayla Clark – My World Of Loneliness

ME Blog, Music, Promo

Teenage singer/songwriter Kayla Clark offers introspective look at solitude with new single ‘My World of Loneliness’

PHOENIX, AZ – Kayla Clark is a fresh Indie singer/songwriter who seamlessly blurs the lines between most contemporary Pop sub-genres through her storytelling and remarkably catchy tracks. The Phoenix-based singer has recently released a new single called “My World of Loneliness” – a timely song that is already connecting with fans all over the world.

“Everyone at some point feels lonely, especially right now as we’re all having to be away from everyone,” Clark said. “I’m taking from the feelings of different experiences of loneliness and putting that all into one song. I usually put a lot of thought into my lyrics, and this one really stood out to me of all the other songs I’ve written. It also features a lot of piano which I think fits the tone of the song very well.”

Clark’s sound holds the unique characteristic of being as minimally edited as possible. She prefers her music to feel raw and unplugged, avoiding over production in favor of the more organic vibes that come from a truly free-spirited process. But that process also includes a dedication to making something as high quality as possible, which means she has dedicated a lot of time to writing and rewriting. Ultimately, to match her sound, Clark prefers to play listening rooms and more intimate venues, allowing her to connect with the audience on a more vulnerable and real level. But with 2020 forcing most artists to stay home and avoid the crowds that come from live performances, Clark has instead focused on her songwriting. As a result, she’s recorded a large collection of songs that perfectly narrate her life as a young woman and musical artist – all of which she plans to release over the course of the next coming months on her new EP, “My World of Loneliness,” set to drop in January.

Prior to the new EP, however, Clark said she plans to release another single called “Silhouette of Me” on Dec. 15. Taking a cue from “My World of Loneliness,” this new single will explore that moment late at night when it feels like all the rest of the world is asleep.

“It’s late and all the lights are going off in the city and you feel like you’re the only one awake,” Clark said of the song. “The only thing to keep you company in that moment is your shadow. It’s a song that features more of me on guitar, but at the end, it’s all about the lyrics. I just want people to hear my songs and be able to connect with them and have their own interpretation of the lyrics and apply it to their own lives. I think music is something that can bring us all together through different emotions and experiences of life, which is why I spend the most time on the lyrics. I’d rather write a song that actually means something than create a catchy tune. I will always want to connect in deeper ways.”

Kayla Clark’s music is currently available across all streaming platforms.

TopWAV – Black and Litty

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music

TopWAV challenges conventional thinking with aggressively entertaining album ‘Big Wavy Protest’

ATLANTA, GA – Soundscapes of Soul and Gospel come head-to-head with classic 808s and bouncy beats on the new album “Big Wavy Protest” from Atlanta-based artist TopWAV. It’s a project that brings energy and edge in its blend of different sounds and styles that not only showcase his raw talent but also challenge listeners to consider a new perspective on the state of affairs in the world today.

“On the cover of the album you’ll see a hand with a glove on it, with the words ‘We need to build our own’ written on the side,” TopWAV said. “That’s something that’s extremely important to me because I’m very pro industry. I believe industrialization is kind of our way forward to build a strong economic block. In the age we’re in now, we’re in a Malcolm X kind of time period, but not in an aggressive sense. More of a nationalism sense This album is to encourage people to be independent and do more for ourselves economically. It’s my own form of protest that basically says in today’s atmosphere and political climate, when all has been said and done, we need to build our own.”

The debut single from the project is a song called “Black and Litty. TopWAV said it’s a song that explores what it takes to be a standout individual – to have something that he calls a “rare essence.”

“It’s about that expression of a rare essence,” he said. “Take Angela Davis, for instance. A lot of people think that her afro was a wig, but it’s not. It’s really her hair. In the past, people made us feel bad about our hair or our skin, and we were encouraged to seek more European standards of beauty. So this song connects back to being our own and being ourselves and having that self-esteem that leads to a rare essence that stands on its own.”

TopWAV continues this exploration of rare qualities with another single, “Black Whitehouse” albeit from a more economic standpoint. Like most of the songs on the album, it showcases a blend of sounds that pull from his background in West Africa and Nigeria. Though inspired by his protest against the government, the sounds he brings to the table with this album also stand out from others within the industry. He blends Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Trap, and Soul with Afro beats for a truly original sound and style.

“My music should be known for independence and uniqueness,” he said. “I want people to have for themselves. We’re all interconnected and can’t neglect that, but that sense of freedom is a personal responsibility. To be able to do what you want to do and take gains or losses and keep playing the game, that’s what my music is about. I’m speaking mostly to people who are in oppressed conditions. That’s not the way we’re created to be and I want my music to be about breaking free from that. But I also believe in the principle of having balance and I know that music is supposed to be inspiring and not just a conduit for strong conscious thought. If it doesn’t flow or it doesn’t fit, we’re not going with it. It has to be the right cadence and flow and rhythm. I believe this project captures that essence.”

Thomas Bernard – You

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Soulful vocalist and singer/songwriter set to dropped emotional Pop Ballad ‘You’

ST. LOUIS, MO – Thomas Bernard is a young singer/songwriter from St. Louis whose new single “You” is set to make him break out big waysin the music industry. Driven by strong piano chords that serve as the perfect platform for Bernard’s soaring and heartfelt vocals, “You” is a Pop ballad that’s reminiscent of some of the greatest names in music today.Listeners of the song will immediately feel the emotion in his voice as he sings. And it’s that emotion that makes it a song that’s immediately accessible for a wide audience.

“I wrote it about the relationship I’m currently in,” Bernard said. “There was a time when my girlfriend felt like I didn’t consider her to be 100 percent the one for me. But I wanted to let her know that she was the only one in my eyes.”

Bernard said fans who listen to his music will certainly feel the influences of Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran, and The Weeknd. That said, he has his own unique sound and style that is definitely carving out a niche within the crowded music marketplace. His voice is tailormade for radio – to the point that he was a contestant on both American Idol and The Voice. He brings a little bit of an R&B soulful vibe to his music, and the lyrics he creates are genuine and filled with emotion.

“I try to make them as real and relatable as possible,” he said. “I just want to create music that people can feel rather than just hear. I feel like today’s generation is leaning toward music that just has a good beat in the back, but not everyone is really saying much with their lyrics. Only a select few artists today put out good stories, and that’s what I want to do. I want people to listen to my music and relate to it and really feel it rather than just listening to something that sounds nice in the moment.”

Bernard first came on the music scene at age 15 when he started going to his local recording studio in downtown St. Louis and creating new tracks. He spent many years honing his craft and writing songs that he knew would one day connect with people. Along the way, he has posted videos of himself singing on multiple social media platforms, building a strong fanbase that continues to grow every day.

“You” is dropped across all streaming platforms. Bernard said he has two more singles set to release in the coming months.
