Salazar – Gone (feat. North Star “Da General” & Agony “The Secret Weapon)

Poignant new song ‘Gone’ captures sentimentality of pain and loss

MIAMI, FL – A lot of people have lost loved ones over the past year-and-a-half. Whether through complications with the COVID virus, or through street violence, or police brutality, or any number of other situations – the world has dealt with a lot of loss recently. Cuban-American hip-hop and trap artist Salazar is no different. In 2002 he found his best friend murdered in his own house, and in the years since the feeling of loss and melancholy has been almost overwhelming at times. To help himself and others cope with that pain and mourn in healthy ways, he reached out to fellow artists and longtime friends North Star “Da General” and Agony “The Secret Weapon” to pen the new song “Gone.” Together – with other artists from South Florida – they formed the collective known as Common Ground. With the help of producers Marc French and Dicee of Savoir Faire Entertainment, they created a poignant, almost film-like vibe that is reverberating in powerful ways all around the world.

“It’s tragic,” Salazar said of the loss so many have experienced this year. “A lot of people I mention in the song are friends we lost – people we played baseball with in little league. The common ground the three of us on this track have is we all lost loved ones and friends to police brutality and street violence. We’ve all known each other for 20 years, and it really hits too close to home when we have fallen soldiers. Unfortunately it’s something people can really relate to right now.”

Salazar said other credits on the single include Miguel Profile Castro – who has producer credits in the past with super hip-hop duo Mobb Deep – and Steven Fabian Dorce, AKA “Mic Rippa” – a Miami hip-hop pioneer who was signed to an independent label by the name of Rolly Roll Records and was scooped up to work with the Beatnuts in the early 1990s.

“That’s what makes this song a staple to the Miami hip-hop community,” he said. “These guys were local legends. Miguel would let us in the Miami Dade Community College midi lab, and even if we weren’t matriculated in the school he’d let us be in there working and learning and keeping us out and away from trouble. He’s the reason we met and why we still make music to this day.”

Born in Miami, Florida to Cuban-American parents, Salazar’s childhood dream was to follow in his father’s footsteps and play professional baseball. In 2016 he began to pursue a solo career, focusing on the surging popularity of trap music – a style that he had perfected in the early 2000s before it became a popular sub-genre of hip-hop. His first song after coming back was a single called “Soy Trapero,” which is a made-up slang term for anyone who loves trap music. To say the single put him on the map is an understatement. It’s a song that created its own movement – from clothes and hats to being the No. 1 artist on ReverbNation for Miami. That movement has expanded over the past three years to encompass two unique brands – Soy Trapero and Chico Mobb, with clothes and apparel in Spanish and English, respectively.

Salazar has also worked to create amazing visuals for all his music over the past few years. One of the more recent music videos that has gained a lot of traction is for his hit single “Whippin That Work.” Tens of thousands of viewers have already streamed the video, and the reviews that Salazar has been getting have been impressive. A video for “Gone” is slated to drop on July 13, as well, and Salazar said it will offer visuals that will only serve to elevate the poignancy of the song even more.

“We shot in a cemetery and in a church and by some railroad tracks at sunset – somewhere heavenly with sunlight in the background,” he said. “The images themselves will help you see and feel what we’re trying to bring with this song. We went even to one of the tombstones of one of our homeboys that we’re talking about in the song. They’re amazing visuals that match the song perfectly.”

JHN.K – Legends Never Fall

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

JHN.K inspires others to never quit with epic new track ‘Legends Never Fall’

ELIZABETH, NJ – JHN.K is an artist from New Jersey who’s music is an illustration of his past, present and future. His vision is displayed vividly through his top-tier lyrical prowess and versatile songwriting. Every song he creates is a release of intense emotion focused on captivating the listener. His latest single, “Legends Never Fall,” is no exception.

Created with the intention of feeling like you’re pushing for so long for something and then finally gain that success, “Legends Never Fall” is the kind of inspirational track that audiences all over the world will be using to motivate themselves for years to come. Inspired by the legendary DMX – one of JHN.K’s favorite artists – the song uses some dark undertones as a foundation as he brings an aggressive flow that showcases his ability to sing and rap. Overall the vibe of the song feels epic – with ethereal synths in the background that make it feel big and cinematic.

“It’s a song about admitting to myself that I’ll never allow myself to quit,” JHN.K said. “I won’t ever stop. I’m acknowledging that the gifts I have put me in a certain place, and now I’m trying to prove myself to the world. It has an upbeat tone but there are definitely some darker undertones to it, and that’s because of the inspiration of DMX – who passed a few months after we did the record. A few of the lines in there are quotes from his second album. Overall the song has an inspirational message behind it.”

JHN.K is an artist who has been developed his signature sound since he was a kid. He started writing poetry when he was about 11 years old, and the first artist who ever caught his attention was Mos Def. His knowledge of hip-hop grew as he studied other legends from the early 2000s, and one day he started putting his poems to beats. He said many people who listen to his music today can recognize the inspirations he’s used over the years to develop his craft, but ultimately his sound is like nothing else that has ever come before. The combination of vibes that he brings through his music makes him stand out – from his voice to his writing to his high-quality production.

For “Legends Never Fall” JHN.K said he worked with IdiomSounds as the main producer, while his long-time co-producer LES also helped on the track. He’s worked with them on other projects in the past and said they bring another level of quality to the table that music lovers will definitely appreciate. He’s also working on more music with them, and has a bunch of singles ready to drop later this year as things progress. His high-quality videos also showcase an amazing talent and take his brand to a whole other level.

Fokie Dope – Money, Women, and B.I.

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Melodic, hypnotic track showcases Fokie Dope’s signature Boom Trap style

CHARLOTTE, NC – The King of Boom Trap has made yet another major splash on the entertainment industry with his latest hit single “Money, Women, and B.I.” Currently available across all streaming platforms, this single is a hybrid of a few styles, but with Fokie Dope’s signature sound that combines good flow with impressive lyricism and a bouncy, lively sound that’s sure to get people moving.

“My music is a hybrid between boom-bap and trap music, with jazz overtones,” Fokie Dope said. “A lot of my music sounds jazzy and synth-heavy, and some of it has R&B elements in it with different kinds of instrumentation. But it always has an energy to it, and this song is no exception. It’s easy on the ears and easily accessible to a large audience. The core of the song is about residual trauma from growing up in bad places and the damage that does to your psyche. But it’s also about how anyone might have to hustle their way out of bad situations, no matter where they are in life. It’s melodic and hypnotic and anyone who listens to it will get entranced in the lyrics and pick up on the message I’m trying to send.”

Fokie Dope is an American rapper, songwriter, musician, record producer and entrepreneur who originally hails from Detroit, Michigan. Bred on the streets and brought up in the rugged neighborhoods of that violent city, Fokie Dope developed the hustle mentality and relentless grit that places his abilities and talent at the forefront of everything he crates. Combining syncing elements of sounds for more than 15 years, Fokie Dope has created a distinctive bassline he’s named Boom Trap.

That signature sound accompanies a signature style that is hard to ignore. Even in the midst of a crowded entertainment industry, Fokie Dope stands out. With such a love for fashion, Fokie Dope’s style is what he jokingly considers “good to be a big dude, love for wrestling, rolled blunts, beautiful women in underwear, and philanthropic efforts.”

“I want my music and my persona to be motivational,” he said. “I want my music to be a hustler’s soundtrack – not just illegal hustlers, but anyone who’s trying to find their way out through shit. I want to inspire them to use what they’ve learned along the way to be creative. And I want to speak for those who don’t have a voice. I know I can use what I have learned to influence other people.”

Randy Hannah - Hands of Time

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Professional balladeer Randy explores lost love with acoustic piano ballad ‘Hands of Time’

ROCHESTER, NY – Music has a power to bring people together – whether for the first time, or through reuniting people who have been apart. This is especially true of love songs, and for New York based balladeer Randy, his love ballad “Hands of Time” – set to be released across all streaming platforms this June – is the kind of song that can lead to healing for a lot of people around the world.

The acoustic piano ballad from this seasoned songwriter and professional musician is told from the point of view of a man who is trying to save his relationship with the woman that he loves. After a bad breakup, she’s left him and he is distraught. He cries himself to sleep because he’s so sorrowful, and he goes into a dream that Randy describes as an almost Wizard of Oz type environment. In this dream the man asks the hands of time to rewind and take him back to a place when the woman was his and things were good between them.

“He believes he can get to the hands of time and convince them to rewind on his behalf,” Randy said. “It’s a forbidden type of thing, almost – but he’s desperate. I’m a balladeer, and this definitely falls into that category. That’s my thing. I don’t believe love or romance is dead. What you have in today’s market is a lot of sex – too many artists tend to get right down to the sex, and the era I came from the romance came before the sex. You wanted to woo a woman into the bed. That’s the gist of my approach musically. I don’t believe chivalry is dead.”

Randy has always been that kind of a songwriter and performer. As a child growing up in the 1980s, he studied a lot of the R&B legends of the day – from Baby Face to Michael Jackson to the Isley Brothers and especially Marvin Gaye. He dug deep into the music, and it wasn’t long before he started writing poems to match the songs he was playing on the piano. And along the way he found a purpose and a motivation to the music he was creating.

“I want to be known for bringing people back together,” he said. “Music is a way to open the door. It’s something that people can use to rekindle their love, or find love for the first time if they’re looking for it.”

Randy said “Hands of time” is part of a bigger album that he plans to release later this year. Before that, however, he’s planning to release another single called “Do All Lives Matter” sometime in mid-June.

Player vibe takes center stage with smooth new album from Georgia artist Boss Man

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA – Boss Man is a new artist from Effingham County, Georgia whose sound is like no other you’ve heard before. He’s bringing a new look and style to the music business, and his diverse and unique taste showcases an artist that can be a laid-back player who transforms into an aggressive hip-hop rapper. That signature style takes center stage on his new EP “Players Club,” which is currently available across all streaming platforms.

Not your typical R&B groove, “Players Club” is more of a swaggy offering for the ladies that comes hard and aggressive on some songs, but is more smooth and R&B-driven in ways that are perfect for the clubs. The standout single is a track called “Pop It,” featuring fellow Southern artist Wellput Will. It’s a song that Boss Man said is perfect for getting girls on the dance floor and giving them something encouraging to feel good about themselves.

“It’s all about poppin that booty,” Boss Man said. “It’s about turning up in the club and feeling good. Will was one of the first artists I met when I came to Atlanta, and he’s been teaching me a few things about performing and making things upbeat. I took his info and rolled with it, and I told him when I made my first EP I was gonna put him on it. He did the feature in life five minutes and it was perfect. I’m really proud of this song because it helps women to feel good about themselves all while having a good time.”

Even though he’s from a small town like Effingham County, Boss Man has proven that he can compete with the biggest of the biggest. He’s opened for legends like Juvenile, and when he did so he had the building on fire! He’s been making big moves since his debut mixtape “Sleeping Giant,” and now the giant has awoken and ready to show the whole world what he’s capable of. And it’s not just music that showcases that originality. He also has a Boss Man clothing line that is making its way around the world and starting to gain traction and popularity.

“Everything I do is about uplifting others, including my clothing brand,” he said. “I don’t want to push negativity. I can get through some of the gristle when I rap about my life, but I’m not making murder music or trap music – at least not in the traditional sense. I’m making music to make you feel good about yourself. I’ve got my own flow, my own way, and my own style, and everything I do is about encouraging you to be the boss of your own style, too.”

Madeline Rose – The Long Road

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Wanderlust and hope take center stage on new Americana album from Madeline Rose

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The last year has been a desperate one for many people around the world. Desperate for a relief from the pandemic. Desperate for a return to social normality. Desperate for something hopeful to look forward to. And now that things are starting to look brighter, musicians like Madeline Rose have the perfect soundtrack for that celebration.

Rose has released a new album that celebrates the journey through which many have traveled over the past year. It’s an album called “The Long Road,” and after only a few weeks of availability on streaming platforms it’s already receiving high praise from industry insiders. Featuring her singer/songwriter, Americana “Country Rock” vibe, the album showcases 10 songs that chronicle journeys through difficulty while also celebrating the hope that often comes on the other side of trials and tribulations.

“Music always helps people with their problems,” Rose said. “It gives you somewhere to go. We’re gonna get out of this pandemic, or out of our problems, in general, and I hope my music can be that escape for people.”

The debut single from the project is a song that shares its name with the album, “The Long Road.” It’s a song about the need to go somewhere and the wanderlust that often comes when stuck in an unwelcome situation. It’s also a song about believing in something bigger and being part of a greater purpose in life.

“It’s one of those songs that’s perfect for a road trip, or for motivating you if you have somewhere to go,” Rose said. “I wrote the song a few years ago but I believe it’s more prevalent today because we’re all in the middle of the pandemic and we don’t know how long we’re going to be in this. A lot of the songs on the album are about traveling and helping people to believe in something. And when it comes to my voice, I have more of a relaxed, reassuring voice that plays well with this kind of a project.”

Rose has also become known for having a cool, smooth rock kind of sound that features acoustic and electric guitars influenced by some of the best-known Classic Rock bands in history – artists like Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Joe Ely, and John Hiatt, to name a few. She’s even met many of her music heroes – from Elton John and Rod Stewart to Rascal Flatts and Lyle Lovett.

Rose began playing music when she was 6, and for as long as she can remember her main goal has been to make a living doing what she loves and help people by creating beautiful music. But being a musician is more than what she does – it’s who she is and who she wants to be. Music is Rose’s life, and she’s excited to take more fans along for the ride.

18sinz – 2 Years

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Flow and bounce pair with R&B and Hip-hop fusion on hot new single ‘2 Years’

UNION CITY, NJ – Imagine if Michael Jackson had found his way into a grittier, more hip-hop driven world. His smooth, melodic vibes and rich R&B sound melding in the midst of that bouncy hip-hop feel would have been something impressive. That’s the sound that East Coast artist 18sinz has discovered, and it’s the kind of stand-out sound that is impressing fans and industry insiders alike.

His latest single “2 Years” puts that sound on full display. The slow, low-key intro of the song is merely a tease before giving way to a fast ride of freaky flow from this fast-rising young artist. With a voice in the higher tenor register, 18sinz whips words with masterful ease. With this single he’s created an up-temp, fun, bouncy ride from the moment he hits the beat to the very end. And he’s created lyrics born from real experiences of love and loss in relationships. Most of his music revolves around relationships, and with “2 Years” he paints a picture of a love that has turned sour over time.

“It’s a song that was inspired by me and my ex-girlfriend and how even after we’d been dating for so long I was still wondering if I could trust her,” 18sinz said. “At the end of the day, when all these things are going down, can I still trust her in the crunch. Ultimately, I left my heart to the wrong female, and I’m gonna make sure that never happens again. It’s really a song that’s uplifting, and I think it shows how my music is very different. I’m talking about real situations and scenarios that I paint with my lyrics. It makes people feel good about themselves. It sounds good and feels good – you can dance and groove to it and also relate to it.”

18sinz said he started making music when he was a freshman in high school. He was inspired by an older brother, who would often take him to the studio with him and encouraged him to get on the mic one day. He created a song called “Small World” that gained some traction and had his classmates playing it all the time. That inspired him to keep creating more and more singles, and over time his popularity as an artist continued to rise. In 2019 he released a mixed tape called “BirkenBoy” that really took off and put him on the national stage as an artist to be reckoned with. He started traveling up to New York and meeting with industry insiders and A&Rs. And he hasn’t looked back since.

In addition to “2 Years,” 18sinz said he’s got another single ready to drop this summer called “Way That You Move,” with even more music planned for later this year.

Spice 1 – Black Lambo

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Videos

Multi-platinum-selling hip-hop legend drops hot new summer hit ‘Black Lambo’

LOS ANGELES, CA – Do you know who rapper Spice 1 is? If not, you should. His musical resume speaks loudlyfor itself. Anyone who knows anything about the history of hip-hop recognizes his significance to the game – and they recognize it immediately. In fact, his first album on Jive sold 900K copies with Spice 1 alone (no features). He never accepts defeat … in any form.

He has multiple platinum-selling albums and singles, and most recently released a track and remix with the legendary Snoop Dogg called “Can’t 4 Get” (Remix: “Let it Fly”). He was a close friend to the late Tupac Shakur, with whom he collaborated with on many songs for both artists’ albums. In fact, he was in the studio with Tupac mere hours before the hip-hop legend was shot and killed in Las Vegas later that night. He – along with fellow artist Kokane – were recording the song “Fame” with Tupac at the time; a song that is believed to be the last song that Tupac ever recorded.

Spice 1 is your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper. Biggie Smalls was once asked in an interview and he gave big props to the Bay Area boss! Both Young Jeezy and legend Snoop Dogg can frequently be seen paying respect to Spice 1 all over social media, so it should come as no surprise that he has a hot new track featuring a collaboration between Spice 1 and Snoop Dogg. After his deal with Jive ended, Spice 1 learned the “business” of the game for himself and became more savvy, which now allows him to assert more creative control over his art and profit more from his obvious inner genius as an artist – very similar to how other artists he came up with have done. Throughout his music Spice 1 pays homage to the rappers he came up listening to, and was more than ecstatic to honor pioneer and rap genius Slick Rick with an adaptation of the beat to the smash hit “Children’s Story” (1988). His latest offering to the world is the hot summer hit “Black Lambo.”

“It’s a remix of one of my previous songs from two years ago,” Spice 1 said. “It’s kind of like my way of showing the world that I can do a little bit of everything. It’s almost an experiment of me going into uncharted waters by doing this on my own as an independent artist. It’s the first time I’ve ever had control of the marketing and promotion and every aspect of releasing a new song. It’s exciting for me, and I can’t wait to see how far my music and investments take me.”

Spice 1 (which is an acronym for Sex, Pistols, Indo, Cash and Entertainment) originally hails from Hayward, California. His first EP, “Let It Be Known,” was certified Platinum, as his follow-up projects “Spice 1” and “187 He Wrote” were certified gold. He released six albums under Jive Records, along with one greatest hits album. Over the course of his career he has amassed 14 platinum and gold plaques.

Spice 1 has never stopped grinding. He loves creating music and performing and is booked steadily for private events and on shows with other well-known artists from his initial active years. Over the years, many people have considered him one of the most under-recognized professional rappers. But Spice 1 isn’t letting anyone’s

opinion in the matter stop him – ever. In fact his last release “Platinum OG” (2019) was recognized on iTunes as it peaked at No. 11 on their charts, which allowed him to add yet another hot plaque on his wall. This, of course, reiterates the point that he is still a force – the vengeful “Black Lambo” is solid proof of that. It is just the first of many more hits to come, and he is excited for his old fans and new to come along for the ride!

International vibes capture surreal-like state of life on hot new track ‘Movie’

NEWARK, NJ – Sometimes the things that happen in life can feel so surreal that it’s like you’re living in the middle of a movie. That’s the concept behind the hot new single from East Coast artist Nate Dingo. “Movie” is a laid-back R&B and Hip-hop fusion with an international edge that’s got such a catchy groove that it’s already lighting up the East Coast after only a couple of weeks of release. Featuring fellow East Coast artists Kmwurld and YDZ, the song uses an Afro-beat foundation and some amazing flows to capture that feeling of celebration through a very mainstream type of song.

“My whole like I have been traumatized, and when I was reflecting on the things I’ve gone through in life sometimes it just feels so surreal that it’s like a movie,” Nate Dingo said. “I’m a very versatile type of artist who can rap and sing and do Afro-beats or hip-hop or R&B – just a lot of different types of artistry that I think can push into the mainstream. I’m able to attract different audiences in America and worldwide. This song is a good example of that.”

The song definitely has an international flare that is sure to attract audiences from all over the world. Much of that style comes from his Ghanaian heritage. He was born in The Bronx to Ghanaian parents who eventually moved to Newark, New Jersey, where he was raised. He discovered music at an early age, though it wasn’t until he was a junior in college that he decided to start taking it seriously. At the time he was studying to become an electronic engineer, but a friend who goes by the stage name KenzyGuap encouraged him to pursue music, and he hasn’t looked back since.

“I knew I had the gift, but I didn’t think I would pursue it as a career,” he said. “At the time my girlfriend broke my heart – she cheated on me and I was in pain. I didn’t know how to get through it, and something told me to just start doing music – to express myself and let this thing go. I wrote a song called ‘Feelings’ and met up with KenzyGuap and when we made the song it blew up. When I saw the numbers and had his encouragement, I decided I wanted to take it seriously.”

Now he’s focused on becoming one of the hottest new international, mainstream artists out there. Though he’s already become known for being a master of Afro Beats and Hip-hop, he doesn’t want to limit himself to those sounds. In fact, he plans to showcase more of his versatility with a new song called “Down Bad” coming out in the next couple of months, with more singles set to drop this fall.

Daz Breezy taps into deep emotions with relatable new singles ‘Alone’ and ‘You Are Always On My Mind’

CHARLESTON, WV – It’s impossible to miss Daz Breezy. Known for his flashy “Breezy Bonnets,” dance moves and colorful style, this East Coast artist definitely stands out in a crowd. His music is also the kind of unique vibe that stands out amidst an over-crowded music industry, and his latest two singles “Alone” and “You Are Always On My Mind” are creating quite a buzz all up-and-down the East Coast.

The two singles almost play off one another, though they have different messages at their core. With “Alone,” Daz is lamenting to his lover his feelings of loss and loneliness through a variety of relationship issues. Whereas with “You Are Always On My Mind,” Daz makes pleading reassurances to his love to realize just how much she means to him. In both cases, Daz said he was inspired to write the songs when sitting next to his partner and considering how much she meant to him.

“With ‘Alone’ I was going through some stuff in my relationship and I just started coming up with the chorus when I was sitting beside her,” Daz said. “In the moment I felt like we were always sitting beside each other but never having a really good conversation. That’s where the line ‘Conversation know it’s getting flat’ came from. From there I came up with the line ‘Girl, I can’t leave you alone,’ and everything else in the song is like I’m just talking to her and finally having that real conversation.”

Daz said the song touches on deeper intricacies of relationships in ways that a lot of people around the world will be able to relate with. He said his own unique experience coincided with other major life upheavals, including the loss of his grandfather and the abrupt ending of his relationship with his brother, who just “ran off on me.” To cope during this time he would often go out at night and escape from life, though every time he’d come home at night he’d bring his woman flowers or other small gifts.

“But it was never enough,” he said. “She was going against me and throwing me down more than building me up. She kept saying I was never thinking about her, which is where the song ‘You Are Always On My Mind’ came from. I’m talking to the woman in my life and telling her that she doesn’t always gotta trip because she’s always on my mind. I adore her. It’s more of a love song than ‘Alone,’ but it touches on a lot of the emotion that comes from that kind of a relationship.”

Daz said he plans to follow these two singles with another song called “Hustle” later this summer. He also has a handful more singles planned to drop in coming months.
