Key$oul – Hop Out The Benz

Key$oul Releases A New Single “Hop Out The Benz” on ALL Digital Streaming Platforms!

Keiontae Alexander better known as Key$oul is a 25 year hip-hop artist out of Benton Harbor Michigan. Honesty is the name of the game for Key$oul, no smoke and mirrors, $oul wants you to see the pain, the struggle and ultimately the reward that comes from grinding in life. Influenced by the hip-hop and R&B since his inception, it’s like destiny wanted $oul to begin creating his own art. In 2016, with the Internet in full swing and artists, both mainstream and independent seeing success, $oul wanted to throw his hat in the ring. However unlike some who jump into industry, Key$oul was more than ready and in fact excited about the work ahead.

Our Michigan hero spent the following years in the background, working, learning, grinding in an attempt to make it out. $oul says “I constantly focused on improving. I was at the studio, rain, sleet, or snow.” The hard work would pay off as Key$oul has two singles well over 22K plays with his “Wow Freestyle” closing in on 50K plays and this is just on Spotify alone. The hard work behind the scenes is also what led to “Vibe With Me” a collaboration $oul did with Florida R&B singer Della Cruse. Key$oul wants listeners to walk away motivated and with the confidence that they can “accomplish anything” whether you’re starting from the bottom or starting over $oul believes you can make it to the top.

Naj8 – Be my Peace (Prod: Pharaoh Vice)

Blog, Industry Spotlight, Music, Promo

Young East Coast artist, Naj8 combines genres with fresh beats for unique love song, “Be my Peace”

BOSTON, MA – Najja Lee is confident that his choice for his artist name Naj8 will bring him good luck. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on the 8th day of the 8th month, Najja’s lucky number has always been number eight. Rising from the hard times of losing his mother at an early age, he moved from Florida to Atlanta, where, as good fortune would have it, Naj8 was exposed to music that spoke to him.

Growing up, music provided a world for him to escape to. Now as an artist, Naj8 is making music for others to escape to as well. Primarily a rapper and R&B singer whose potential is still being unlocked, Naj8 can kick it in many different styles.

Recorded in Atlanta, his song “Be my Peace” is a love song about finding the right one. After he and a friend started working on the same beat, the song came together in the studio as a combination of each artist’s take on the track. “It was at a time when we were both a little heartbroken,” Naj8 said, and the song talks about all the feelings they wanted to have and to know personally.

Naj8 uses his songwriting skills to make music that is real and truthful, creating an atmosphere that connects emotions. Naj8 says what people are thinking about love, depression, heartbreak and more, and the music is captivating because he writes about what people are really feeling inside. “Either you’ve come to terms with these feelings or you’re running away from these feelings, but you’ve felt these feelings before.”

Although he didn’t initially think about making his own music, Naj8 has always loved listening to music from all genres. While living in Atlanta, his circle of friends was filled with artists who were rapping and free-styling. In 2016, during his sophomore year in high school, Naj8 decided to get serious about his own music career. At first, he wanted to have the same vibe as rappers he was listening to, such as Lil Uzi, Migos, The Weeknd and Future. He moved on to naturally craft a style that was different and more his own. “I started to put my own influences on the music like how I know music,” Naj8 said. “That’s when things started to change.” Becoming more confident in his ability, he was able to create music that gives a truly unique experience to his listeners.

Naj8 is working hard to make sure that his message is heard. He returns to the recording studio next week to begin work on a new EP. Ready to push his limits as an artist, he is determined to help as many as he can through his music. “If people feel like they’re alone, I will show them that there is no alone – we’re together in this!” The power and emotion of Naj8’s music is worth delving into.

Lil Snook – Letters From The Midwest

Lil Snook shares ‘Letters From The Midwest’ with hot new single

SHAWNEE, OK – Tyler “Lil Snook” Johnson is a 22-year-old rapper from the Midwest whose unique blend of Hip Hop and Pop is the kind of sound that fans are going to want to start paying attention to.

His newest single, “Letters From The Midwest,” is currently available across all streaming platforms and is already turning heads in its first two weeks of release. Exploring themes of lost love and rebuilding, the song is a great display of Lil Snook’s upbeat Hip Hop style.

“It’s about trying to move on from the past and looking at the letters me and my ex used to write to each other,” he said. “It’s more upbeat and shows how I tend to write about a little bit of everything from my life. I write about anything I’ve been through or seen or am currently going through, or even things others are going through. Sometimes, like with this song, I draw from past relationships. There are just a lot of different things that inspire me. I also sing and rap and produce my own music – I do everything by myself from my home in my own studio.”

Born and raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Lil Snook first became interested in creating music when he discovered Lil Wayne when he was 10 years old. That Hip Hop legend’s passion behind the lyrics was what caught Lil Snook’s attention.

“You could tell he was in love with what he was doing and he was driven to do something to change people’s lives by rapping and making music to tell about their lives,” he said. “I caught that at a young age.”

By 12, Lil Snook was writing his own stuff and experimenting with different sounds and styles. He’d perform for his family from time to time, and his aunt gave him the nickname Lil Snook after hearing him rap.

“She thought my sound was old-school,” he said. “We’re from the South and she thought it sounded right from where we’re at. She said that it was a sound that was gonna be so different that it was gonna sneak in and be real popular. She started calling me Lil Snook and it just stuck.”

Today, Lil Snook said he hopes to create music that will be long lasting legacy of others who have come before him. With two more albums set to drop in the next month as well as more singles that he’s preparing to release, he said he has an archive of music to share with the world.

“I put out music a lot,” he said. “At least once every other week I’m putting something out. I’m trying to blow up real fast. I want my music to be popular and a lot of people to relate to it. I want to create something people like, but if they don’t like it – oh well, it’s still my music and I’m still gonna put it out there and a lot of people will still relate to it. I get a lot of passion in music and through music… it drives me to live every day and to write. And I want to share that with the world.”

Megaciph – No Fear Now

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Master Hip Hop artist, Megaciph captures current climate of injustice awareness in his latest music projects

MOBILE, AL – An acronym for Mental Energies Gather and Circulate in Positive Harmony, Megaciph (rhymes with “life”) is making music that appeals to young and old, optimistic and angry. He’s tackling topics that affect the whole world while dropping words of truth, peace and love. This rap music is human rights music that has captured the attention of a diverse group of listeners who crave for more complex concepts than standard rap music industry music has to offer.

“No Fear Now” is the most recent single from Megaciph’s current project, “The Dirty South Chronicles: As Clean As We Wanna Be.” It is a song about the worldwide movement for Black lives in the context of a global pandemic. After he was asked by his son to write a song about staying safe from corona virus, George Floyd was killed and the planet erupted in protest. “The sentiment of “No Fear Now” reflects my feelings about how I want to be treated and perceived as a Black man in America. But these are not just my feelings; there is a universal paradigm shift taking place,” Megaciph said. “The video for this song is my attempt at capturing the essence of these protests, which is power in peace. The George Floyd murder in Minneapolis coming on the heels of months of Covid-19 quarantining highlighted the broad systemic injustices in our global system.” By deliberately including his children’s voices in the chorus, the artist highlights that the struggle continues. “The courage and tenacity of the protests is embodied in the title, “No Fear Now,” he asserted.

Produced by Steve Wallace, “The Dirty South Chronicles: As Clean As We Wanna Be” also includes a feel-good, summer time jam which calls on average citizens and governments alike to get it together. With a similar spirit and call for change as “No Fear Now,” the track, “Everybody Arise” is more upfront about what action is needed.

Later this year, Megaciph will also put out a group of singles called the “MEGADATA” project in collaboration with James Data. If all goes according to plan, many of the new songs will be accompanied by music videos. To date, they have finished three big sounding club bangers with big concepts. The lead single, “Oasis” was released on May 5.

Recorded at Dauphin Street Sound, “Oasis” is a song for a world in transition. It challenges what we think is normal and shows that a new way is possible. “It’s the mood of the people. It’s our fears, our hopes and our dreams wrapped up in one,” Megaciph said. “Oasis” is a song about where we want to go next. The music video, with its low key paranoia and conspiracy theorist vibe, is being edited in Sweden by the same team that worked on Megaciph’s “All Dreams Anyway” video (which can be seen on Megaciph’s website).

Reminiscent of Public Enemy, another “MEGADATA” track, “Critical Condition” talks about underground radio taking back attention and delivering true independent content. The third finished single, titled “Clout” calls out the cell phone culture and the obsession to do just about anything to garner attention.

Megaciph is an artist who has stayed the course during all his years of music making. He has worked with well over a dozen producers and collaborated with several different artists. “I’ve aged so well with my music and with my sense of who I am. It’s never been about getting money. That really comes through in the music,” he said. Passionate and articulate, Megaciph is making movement music for humanity.

These past five years have seen Megaciph’s best shows, biggest concerts, and largest audiences to date. Among other triumphs, he was a featured artist at The Peace and Planet festival in New York City, where he played for over 10,000 activists in Union Square.

Megaciph is from the same generation as Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Nas, and Master P. While they were breaking into the rap world, Megaciph was being broken down in the US Marine Corps. At 30 years old, Megaciph released his first album in 2006, “The Graduate Program,” as a lyrical manifesto of the proletariat struggle and altruistic emceeing. In 2014, he released “CIVILiAM,” a world class production from seven producers and two guest emcees who are also military veterans. His 2017 EP, “CODESWITCHING,” produced by James Data, landed him a spot on AWAL’s coveted roster of independent artists. Seasoned and consistently excellent, Megaciph will shock and surprise you when you take the time to get to know him.

The artist continues writing and is eager to return to Dauphin Street Sound to finish recording for “MEGADATA” and have the work mixed by an engineer. When the time is right, Megaciph will be set up and ready to get back in the studio and knock out a ton of work.

Billy Bad – Still Alive

Blog, Industry Spotlight, Music, Videos

Russian-born Hip Hop artist uses passion for music
to inspire others with new single ‘Still Alive’

ATLANTA, GA – During these troubled times around the world while people are desperate for something positive to look forward to, one young artist from the Deep South is sending out a message of hope.

Billy Bad is a fast-rising talent from Atlanta, Georgia whose professionalism and highquality shines bright through each and every song he creates. This is perhaps best displayed with his new single “Still Alive” which he said is a perfect anthem for a world struggling with depression and desperation.

“It’s a good song to release during this time because we’re in very troubled times,” Billy said. “I’m trying to motivate people. I just want to tell the world that I’m still alive and you can be alive, too.”

Though known for his rap game and impressive lyricism, Billy Bad also has a smooth voice that is put on full display with this new single. He’s quick to point out that while he’s not trying to reinvent anything, he’s also not an artist who sounds like anyone else in the industry today. Everything he creates is original, with lyrics that tell stories pulled from his life and day-to-day experiences. And through those experiences, he knows he can relate with others going through similar situations.

Billy’s journey to success in the industry has been a long one … literally. He grew up in Russia for much of his childhood before moving with his family to Tampa, Florida after his father was chosen as one of only a few to be given a green card. Coming to America as a teenager was difficult, Billy said, and he felt alienated at times.

“Music kind of became my outlet during that time,” he said. “I didn’t have a lot of friends, but music was always there for me.”

Eventually, the hobby that helped him through difficult times became something he was passionate about and 18 months ago, he moved to Atlanta with the goal of working his way into the industry. He began to network with anyone he could find to help him get his foot in the door, and that hard work began paying off.

“I learned the hard way that Southern Hospitality wasn’t always hospitable,” he said. “I burned through thousands, learning through trial and error. You could say I was baptized by fire. But as long as I can still breathe, I’ll be doing music. Once I begin something, I see it through to the end. And Atlanta is perfect for me – I can be around some of the most beautiful women in the world and make high-quality music with access to high-quality strains. I feel like doing music is the greatest way to give influence in this world. It’s a medium that gets people’s attention and when you have their attention, you can inspire them to almost anything.”

Ty Lashay – Sometimes It Rains

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Soulful singer Ty Lashay inspires global audience
with timely debut single ‘Sometimes it Rains’

ATLANTA, GA – Struggle is a common denominator for most people in the U.S. today… and indeed, most people in the world. In fact, most days it feels as if there’s nothing but struggle, but up-and-coming soul artist Ty Lashay has a message of hope for the world that is both timely and timeless.

The young woman from Atlanta, Georgia has released a new single called “Sometimes It Rains” that is already starting to turn heads in the music industry. The feel-good vibe plays with heavy piano chords intermingled with layered lighter piano melodies against an upbeat, jazzy rhythm – all of which plays perfect counter point to Lashay’s soulful vocals. Listeners will be reminded of the powerful presence of Lauryn Hill or Mary J Blige when they hear Lashay’s voice, and they’d be right to make those comparisons as the words in her songs carry equal depth to those living legends.

“I’m a freestyle songwriter, meaning I’m writing lyrics off the top of my head and I’m writing what I feel,” Lashay said. “So when I’m going through stuff, I write about it. This song is about the struggle – everybody’s struggle – and saying that it’s OK. If people mock you in your struggle or while you’re going through things, that’s OK. Sometimes it rains, but the sun is gonna shine again. If people hate you or mock you or laugh at your struggle, it’s OK. I have struggles. You have struggles. Everybody has struggles. Sometimes we struggle and feel pain, and it’s OK.”

Though Lashay has been a professional songwriter for a few years, this is her debut solo track. She said she’s excited for a wider audience to hear her voice and discover her soulful, emotional and inspiring music. She’s come a long way since writing her first song at the age of 10. Having honed her craft in the thriving musically influential city of Atlanta, Lashay has had the opportunity to travel and perform at some of the top music venues in the U.S. One of the main places she performed at in Atlanta was at the ”Original Apache Cafe “, a legendary venue in that city and abroad. She’s also had the opportunity to record sessions at Atlanta’s historic Patchwerk Studios, which is where “Sometimes it Rains” was recorded. And throughout those experiences, she has developed a unique sound and style that is equal parts original and nostalgic.

“I sound real different from anyone else out there today, but my music is also soulful and will sound familiar in some ways when people listen to it,” she said. “I’m diverse and my music has a real feel – an emotional feel – to it. I’m real truthful with my lyrics and the sound is organic. I write inspiring music but also music to have fun with. Most of the time, I’m trying to send out a message and I feel like what I’m putting out there is speaking to everybody. I recognize the responsibility I have with that and I try to be conscious of the fact that my music is the kind of music that makes you think and feel. At the end of the day, I want my music to be inspirational worldwide. I want to be motivational and reach people and change people’s minds. I want to touch souls and lives and make people think. I feel like I can reach people pretty much everywhere and lift a lot of people’s spirits up so they can forget their problems and troubles and bring a big smile to their faces.”

“Sometimes it Rains” is currently available across all streaming platforms, and Lashay said she plans to follow that up with another single called “I Pray” later this summer.

ShaRu – Summer Tape Intro (Seasons)

Blog, Industry Spotlight, Music, Promo, Videos

Stories from the streets take center stage
with new album from East Coast artist ShaRu

ASBURY PARK, NJ – From the rural streets of Asbury Park, New Jersey comes a one-of-a-kind sound that is sweeping the nation with brilliance.

ShaRu is no stranger to violence and poverty, and like many of the Hip Hop legends before her, her music and artistry paint pictures with words that are equal parts provocative and elegant. Her music poetically tells compelling tales of the struggle. Her variety of sounds and styles weave listeners through a menagerie of genres that pair perfectly with her witty lines and catchy hooks.

This is perhaps best displayed with her newest album “Summer Tape,” due to release across all streaming platforms on July 4. It’s a gritty, Hip Hop-infused album that mixes up-tempo dance vibes with mellow cruising vibes for the kind of product that will linger in the listeners ears for years to come.

“It’s a crazy time we’re going through, and this is a project that will help people walk through that,” ShaRu said. “It’s a project that tells stories from my life, painting pictures of different events I’ve been around or seen or read about. At the end of the day, I just want my music to be known for storytelling, collaboration with instruments and music, and for its passion. I hope to be able to spark some passion for the next generation.”

The debut single from the album, “Summer Tape Intro (Seasons),” has already been released and is starting to elicit high praises from insiders in the industry. Serving as an introduction to the album yet to come, it’s a song that showcases ShaRu’s unique rapping ability and her range of talents as a producer, instrumental musician and all-around artist. It’s also a sound and style that fans can come to expect from her team, which includes other artists such as BGF, King Dy Darap Bear, and MusicTend.

“What sets me apart is I’m not afraid to go outside the box when it comes to Hip Hop,” she said. “I explore Jazz, and my favorite music is Classical. I like playing with a lot of different sounds. My favorite instrument is the saxophone, and I used that and the flute and some other instruments on this album. I also can play the drums and I’ve been into music since I was about 4 years old. With choirs and school and church and band … music has always been a part of my life. I just have a passion for music. It’s my first love. And when I was around 7 or 8 and learned how to put rhyming words to beats, I didn’t look back from there.”

ShaRu said one of the biggest personal drives for her to succeed is the fulfillment of a promise she made to her mother, Marlene Morris, who passed away three years ago. She said the album was supposed to be released back then but she had put it on the back burner and walked away from it for a time. She’s now ready to finish what she started and hopes to honor her mother with the accomplishment of such a meaningful project.

Cel Escobar – Devil Want My Soul

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Hot new rapper Cel Escobar displays impressive flow with new EP ‘4 For 4’

TRENTON, NJ – There’s a lot of versatility and nuance to the music coming from new Hip Hop wonder Cel Escobar, and he attributes much of that to the upbringing of his father, James Oliver and his grandmother, Gladys Oliver.

Growing up in Trenton, New Jersey, Cel was rarely away from either of those inspirational people. While his father was at work, Cel stayed with his grandmother. Much of what he did was with her, and she – along with his father –taught him what it meant to be a man of integrity and to care for others around him. Between the two of them, they taught young Cel a love for music and the right way to dream for the future. And though most of his youth was dedicated to sports – including two years playing baseball in college – it seemed only natural to pursue a career in music once he finished college. In many ways, it was a fulfillment of promises his father and grandmother had spoken over him for much of his life – promises that come to fruition with his forthcoming new album “Blessed and Highly Favored.”

“My grandma gave me the title name because she has always felt I was blessed,” Cel said. “She’d always tell me I was blessed and that I should always thank God for what I have and that has always stuck with me. She also has always told me that I’m highly favored. My father raised me and gave me my foundation, and I believe my versatility as an artist comes from him because he had me listening to all music genres. But where I’m from, it’s rare to have talent as a musician, and my grandma has always pointed me out as one of the highly favored ones to make it.”

That inspirational message is one Cel hopes to share with the rest of the world through his music. Primarily a rapper, this young musician takes inspiration from all walks of life – whether it be societal issues or stories from his life or even dreams of the future. He’s versatile as an artist but also adheres to the old school Hip Hop style that put that genre on the map in the first place. And more than anything, he takes pride in his ability to rap at the highest level.

“That’s really what separates me a lot from anyone else,” he said. “A lot of things inspire me and I can write and rap about anything. If something really excites me, I’ll rap about it. Or I might rap about my scenery, or something I like, or something like the George Floyd thing. A lot of times it also depends on the mood I’m in.”

That versatility will be put on display first through a four-song EP called “4 For 4” which is currently available across all streaming platforms. Starting with an intro that’s perfect for a summer vibe, the next three songs take listeners on a bit of a ride through Cel’s creative process. With “Devil Want My Soul,” Cel encourages people to go the extra mile in all things.

“Don’t sell yourself short,” he said. “Push to the limit. That’s the message of that song, and it ties back into the full album.”

With “Strictly for the Trenches,” Cel said he lets fans get an inside look into his evolution as an artist. This is the first song he wrote and recorded, and he said he opted to include it on the album as an homage to one of his friends who is featured on the track. The message of the song is inspired by the poverty and environment that surrounded him at the time.

The last song on the EP is “Ride With Me” featuring the female artist Mya. Cel describes it as a mellowed, relaxed song that is perfect for cruising down the highway. A music video for this single and “Devil Want My Soul” are due to drop before the end of the summer.
