Swim – Paranoia

Swim’s new single ‘Paranoia’ is the perfect song for 2020

LOS ANGELES, CA – Punk Rock meets Pop and splashes of Hip Hop for the perfect West Coast summer vibe from fast-rising artist Swim. His single “Paranoia” is the perfect kind of rapid-paced guitar-driven track that immediately puts listeners in a groove while also diving into feelings and emotions that many are feeling during this time of global pandemic and cultural upheaval. Currently streaming across all digital platforms, “Paranoia” is the kind of song that listeners won’t be able to get out of their heads. It’s destined to be added to millions of playlists and listened to on repeat.

Like most of his songs, Swim’s latest single was created organically. In the midst of social distancing, he found himself sitting alone at home and frustrated with the trappings of his current situation. Like many others in the world today, the negative news continued to fill him with thoughts of paranoia, and the outflow of those emotions created this new summer jam.

“It’s how I feel – paranoid of the world and the way it is today,” he said. “It’s a song made from how I felt in the moment. I like Pop music, and even if the words are less enthusiastic, I wanted it to have a Pop feel to it. The guitarist, Lorenzo, is a producer and friend and usually when we work together there’s a great combination of both of our spirits together in it.”

Born in Philadelphia, Swim was raised outside of Newark, Delaware and lived in Baltimore before moving to LA to pursue music. He attended graduate school at the University of California, Irvine and is currently pursuing a PhD in comparative literature. This artist, rapper, writer, theorist, philosopher and part-time fashion designer is a deep thinker who loves to take inspiration from a wide variety of places. His music in particular is inspired by Pop-leaning artists in the Hip Hop and Punk genres – from Drake and Lil Wayne to Kanye West, Kid Cudi, The Dangerous Summer, The Wonder Years and Emarosa. Out of those influences, he has created a genre-bending style that he describes as “Goth Pop” or “songs for the dope and hopeless.”

“I grew up in a weird place in the world and it definitely influenced my sound,” he said. “I really love music – all music. To a certain degree, people are very territorial over their genre, but I just really love music that makes people feel something, whether it’s good or bad. I’ve always wanted to be a songwriter and as a PhD student in comparative literature, the things I do sometimes when I’m thinking are closer to what I do when I’m making music. I go with the flow of not trying to be defined by things – which is what my name is about. Swim is believing in the soul that is moving with whatever track I’m making. If I like it, I’ll make a song to it because I like it and it fits. I don’t expect people to know me but if there’s something I’d like to be known for, it’s being a good songwriter.”

Following “Paranoia,” Swim said he’s working on an album called “The Wretched” which should drop either by the end of this year or in early 2021

KC Beck – The Machinist

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Country rocker KC Beck rides wave of success with single ‘The Machinist’

AUSTIN, TX – A rocking new country song is making the rounds across the U.S. from Texas-based artist KC Beck. Inspired by a fellow soldier with whom he served in Iraq, Beck’s “The Machinist” is a “hell of a fight song” that motivates listeners to keep pushing on through the hardships of life.

KC Beck is the rare musician who has served in the U.S. military and put his life on the line for his country. Few artists of recent memory have actually served or set forth in a combat zone. Serving from 2003-2007 in active duty, then again as a contractor in Iraq from 2007-2010, Beck is a disabled veteran who has parlayed his struggles into an outlet of music. Upon returning from Iraq, KC discovered he had lost most of his memory and began begging for help from the VA. Repeated requests to President Obama and then President Trump’s administrations finally paid off, and over the past few years, he’s been making a recovery. Out of that recovery has come new music.

KC’s song, “That’s Just Me” was used in the independent films “50 States” and “A Horse with no Name.” His music has been featured in Texas Music magazine and on two compilation albums. And “The Machinist” is currently charting on the Texas Regional Radio Report for 30-plus weeks.

“I wrote it for a buddy of mine that I was in Iraq with,” KC said. “His brother was diagnosed with cancer while we were over there, and it turns out my grandpa passed away from the same cancer just two years ago. His brother was a life-long machinist and is still alive and fighting the cancer. My grandfather was someone I really respected. He gave me steady hands and passed his guitar on to me. So in a way, it’s a song for both of them.”

KC said “The Machinist” is a good example of how his music takes the energy of combat and the pain of being a disabled veteran and mixes those emotions with a little Midwest country and Texas sound. Having drawn comparisons to legends like Garth Brooks and Luke Combs, KC’s sound is the kind that stands out.

“I’m just a hardcore, rough-around-the-edges guy,” he said. “I have no songs that are boring. Everything is high energy. When I play music, I’m all over the place. Pain sucks but music is the thing that cures the pain for the couple of minutes that I’m playing.”

In addition to “The Machinist,” KC is also preparing to drop another single called “You’re the Reason Why” this fall. It’s a song originally written by Country greats Byron Hill and John Rich, the latter of whom did the original demo for the song. Byron Hill personally gave KC permission to use the song, reconnecting with him after originally talking about the song 10 years prior.

Eat Greedy G – Everything That I Know

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Eat Greedy G sets the record straight with new single ‘Everythang That I know’

DALLAS, TX – Straight swag drips off the bars brought forth from Dallas-based rapper Eat Greedy G on his new single “Everythang That I know,” which is currently available across all streaming platforms. With its heavy 808s and a bouncy flow, this single is the perfect kind of summer jam that is ready-made for listening while riding in the car or chilling out back with some friends. Telling the true story of his arrest and incarceration, Greedy sets the record straight on multiple rumors on this first single after being released from prison.

“It was a big deal on the news and because of that, there were a lot of rumors and speculations about my arrest,” Greedy said. “People think I’m wild and fast and trying to get to the money, but they didn’t have the facts about this story. This is a song talking about how I came up and really being out here and doing what they’re talking about.”

Greedy is an artist who, like many other musicians, was surrounded by music growing up. His father created music and by middle school, he too, was creating his own beats and sounds on the small computer system he owned. He set that aside for a time because he needed to make money, which led to some poor choices that landed him in prison. But after prison, he realized he needed to make major changes in his life and has since dedicated himself to pursuing music full-time.

Over the years, he has developed a sound and style which is unique and original. Everyone who hears him comments that he doesn’t sound like anybody else – and he doesn’t try to immolate any of his influences or make sure his sound is commercial and appeals to the masses.

“There are artists in the game I like,” he said, “but I don’t overly listen to anybody because I don’t want it to influence my sound. My sound is based off a vibe – no matter what it is at the time. Whatever the beat is, expressing is how I’m rapping on it. And at the end of the day, people will know that I make music with authenticity. That’s what’s missing today in a lot of other music. My presentation is a confirmation of skill which automatically confirms that street credibility. And whenever your music can be confirmed, people can relate to it. I just want people to relate to my music – and I know they will.”

In addition to “Everythang That I know,” Greedy is also preparing to drop a second single in August called “My Way.” It’s a song that talks about the positive aspects of life that are starting to appear as he makes changes and better decisions. He’s in a position to be successful, he said, and yet challenges continue to arise to impede his progress and discourage him from getting where he wants to go. This is a song that basically says, “Get out of my way.”

That single will be followed with an EP that’s set to drop later this fall, and even more music planned for 2021.

MH Mace – Thoughts in My Head

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

MH Mace offers fly stream of consciousness with new single ‘Thoughts in my Head’

LONG ISLAND, NY – It’s not every day that a stream of consciousness turns into a hit song, but that’s exactly what has happened for New York rapper MH Mace. His new single “Thoughts in my Head” is the perfect example of how quality rapping and a good beat can sometimes create magic. What was born from a freestyle in the studio has turned into one of the hottest tracks ever created by this up-and-coming East Coast artist, and fans all over the world are adding it to their playlists to hear on repeat.

Like all of his music, each song in his repertoire is titled after an aspect of his life. With “Thoughts in my Head,” Mace is spilling the story of his life in its raw form. He’s authentic – nothing fabricated or extra – and he sets the tone for all the other songs that will come on the EP of the same name.

“When the beat comes on, I just let it flow out,” he said. “When you’re from New York, music is everywhere. When I was young, at first I was just rapping but eventually I learned how to do melodies and different instrumentals. I started playing with it and exploring, and the feedback I was getting was really good. I put a couple of songs out on Soundcloud and it just took off from there.”

While Mace is a nickname derived from his birth name, Maceo, the MH in his stage name refers to “Most Hated.” That’s a moniker that he and his friends created as they grew up in Long Island.

“We were always the crew that everybody hated because we were the flyist and all that extra stuff,” Mace said. “Now I’m running with it because it is a great way to think about my music. I make great quality music and I feel like my songs shouldn’t be skipped. If it comes on in a shuffle, it shouldn’t be skipped. Like my favorite artists – Meek Mill and Lil Durk and A Boogie – you can tell my music is authentic. They always tell a story with their music, and so do I. They’re not just saying whatever they think is cool. They’re actually telling a story in most of their songs. That’s what you get with my music.”

Mace said he considers himself to be a “lit introvert” – a guy who is laid-back but who can be lit whenever the occasion calls for it. And when that happens, his music sets the perfect tone for any occasion.

Katie Veltri – Catch Me

Blog, Industry Spotlight, Music, Promo, Videos

New single ‘Catch Me’ from vocalist Katie Veltri serves as perfect introduction to forthcoming EP

UNITED STATES – Though Katie Veltri is an artist whose voice has been heard in a variety of places, there’s perhaps no better showcase for her unique talent than that of her most recent single “Catch Me.” The bouncy island vibe fused with blues guitar and Katie’s ethereal vocals is the perfect song to invite listeners into a chill, laid-back space. It’s a song that has a sway and groove that make you want to move from side-to-side as you close your eyes and dream with Katie as she sings. It’s low key and down-to-earth – something that perfectly describes this budding young artist who has recorded on both the East and West Coasts.

Katie sees herself as an R&B singer who implements different styles and thinks outside the box. She’s been integrating different genres into her music from day one. She was recently spotlighted on a radio critic’s choice playlist for two of her recent singles, and she’s worked with producers on both coasts. “Catch Me” is the debut single from her new EP of the same name which features four songs that further explore her jazzy and sultry vocals.

“I draw influences from artists ranging from Whitney Houston to Annie Clark to Pink Floyd, and I’ve traveled across the country working with many different producers,” Katie said. “I like to implement stylistic approaches to my style, and I think my experiences help set me apart from anyone else out there today. My experimental style is what distinguishes me. I’m implementing jazz vocal styles and blending the old with the new.”

Katie first got into music through writing. She’s been a writer for magazines, blogs and poetry outlets among other things, and has been an artist across multiple mediums for many years. In college, she dove head first into songwriting and hasn’t looked back since. With the new EP, Katie said she hopes to show the world an intelligent young woman who has natural gifts as a singer and songwriter, but who also has some important things to say about the world and culture and relationships.

“I have a unique perspective to offer and I hope that’s what my music becomes known for,” she said. “I want to create music that helps people become more aware of what’s going on around us. I’m a serious artist with something to say, and I believe that resonates with people at large, not just one demographic. With everything that’s going on these days, people want something real and not formulaic, and I really believe that’s what I’m doing with my music.”

UpRite Lions – Rosetta Stone

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Bouncy smooth new single from Uprite Lions offers new perspective on hard times

LAS VEGAS, NV – Everyone in the world is looking for a Rosetta Stone for something in their lives. The historic artifact was integral in helping decipher multiple old languages and as such, it cleared the confusion away for centuries of unknown knowledge. That symbology for understanding is the metaphor upon which Las Vegas duo Uprite Lions presents their new song “Rosetta Stone.”

With an R&B and Soul vibe that fuse Hip Hop beats in ways that are simultaneously bouncy and smooth, this duo of brothers brings a nice groovy slow jam to the summer of 2020 in collaboration with fellow artist Pace Brown. They often refer to their Dragon Ball Z-like fusion as “PURL.” Artists B-Star and Shef Seeyna bring yet another quality track after years of excellence in the industry. The harmonized vocals from Brown and Shef create a smooth intro to the song before making way to the grave rapping of Shef’s voice that immediately makes the listener sit up and pay attention. By the time B-Star comes in with his bars, the song has taken on a deep overtone that slowly unpacks years of knowledge that the three artists offer to the world.

“During these chaotic times, we have always wondered how people dealt with love and each other after dealing with the craziness of the world,” Shef said. “This song is about how you deal with your love life while this stuff is going on around you. In essence, the Rosetta Stone is understanding, and this song is about understanding the depth of relationships – whether they’re romantic or platonic.”

“We’re all looking for our own Rosetta Stone which is basically an understanding of what’s going on in your life,” B-Star said.

The Uprite Lions were originally formed in 2007 in Greensboro, North Carolina. B-Star and Shef were solo artists and brothers on the same Indie label. After combining forces, they built a brand, sound and lifestyle that could only be described as Live Action Soul Reaction. They quickly made a name for themselves along the East Coast and South with their high energy performances and captivating music. That momentum eventually encouraged them to move to Las Vegas – the entertainment capital of the world – where they began to experiment with their sound and fuse Hip Hop with Dancehall, Reggae, Soul, EDM, and even at times Opera. Their sound had become something truly original.

“We create live-action, feel-good music,” Shef said. “Even if it’s not your type of music, you can’t say it’s not good. It’s music that encourages you to do you. It doesn’t take someone else to do you. We should all shine together to make a bright light, and that’s what our music is about. If the truth is cliché, we’re running with it. If you can feel a thing, you can begin to vibrate on the same frequency and our music is an extension of who we are.”

That signature sound and style is put on full display with the video for “Rosetta Stone.” The sci-fi, parallel-universe-shifting, quantum leap-ish inspired video is a visual showcase that will make music lovers and fans of film hitting repeat time and time again. Created in part by ValenteFilms and Mike LaPutt, the video is slated to drop on YouTube on Aug. 21 – the same day the single is scheduled to release across all streaming platforms.

Thee Professor – At Night

Thee Professor showcases lifetime of music knowledge on new album ‘No Vouchers Needed’

MILWAUKEE, WI – Corey Tucker has seen a lot when it comes to music and its influence on culture. As CEO of the record label GMW Records 414, he’s seen a lot of artists come and go – some leaving a lasting contribution to the ever-evolving music landscape and some passing by with barely a splash. His new album “No Vouchers Needed,” released Aug 7 across all streaming platforms, is his attempt to capture some of that musical history while also bringing a new sound and style that will be a contribution to the legacy of music in the world. With an old Hip Hop vibe that features hard bars combined with “jewels and jams” of his own creation, “No Vouchers Needed” is the kind of album that 10 years from now people will be looking back to with astonishment.

“Youngsters and people of all ages out there are looking to be excited by another wave of music,” said Tucker, who performs under the stage name Thee Professor. “I’m a part of history in the streets, and history period. I don’t need no vouchers. I don’t need anybody trying to lift me up. In my city, people know me. I’ve been involved in music for a long time and people know who I am. With this album, I’m trying to bring a contribution to the industry – to bring back that old Hip Hop flow and style. And then I’m bringing some choruses that come in for a balanced vibe – not just up or down but balanced. At the end of the day, this album is me saying I’m here and I don’t need no vouchers.”

The debut single from the project is a song called “At Night.” It’s a track that describes Thee Professor up at night working hard on his beats and researching different aspects of the industry. It’s a song that perfectly encapsulates the 18-month plan of being a CEO of his own label, of being a producer for other artists, and of being a record maker for himself.

“It’s about staying up late working and trying to manifest your dreams,” he said. “It taps into dreams I had when I was about 17 or 18 years old and things I was going through back then – like hustling in the streets – and then shows another side of me from now and what I’m going through today. I think it’s a song that shows off my sound which is authentic and original. As long as I’ve been doing music, no one has been able to compare me to anyone. It’s not too many people you will come across who is just someone who can get on the mic and sound like themselves but also have that switch that flips for anyone.”

In addition to the release of the album, Thee Professor said he’s planning on putting together some visuals for a handful of the singles, which he plans to release later this fall.

Da Real EKG – Thing 4 You

ME Blog, Music, Promo

Da Real EKG has finger on the pulse of music with new single ‘Thing 4 You’

DOTHAN, AL – An EKG machine is a medical device that keeps up with the electric pulses of the human body. Da Real EKG is an artist who offers the same for the music industry. He has his finger on the pulse of music and his unique sound and style are providing a fresh perspective in a time desperate for originality.

His latest single, “Thing 4 You” is a perfect example of this original sound and style. Opening with R&B harmonies and a smooth, mid-tempo flow, this song has a sway to it that cannot be denied. Showcasing his deep voice – both as a singer and a rapper – the song is one that perfectly fuses R&B and Rap in ways that are truly one-of-a-kind. The track features fellow artists A.M. and T-Blak, and was created a couple of years ago but has only recently seen wide distribution after a re-release from the label.

“We were all stuck in the studio one day and somebody had a beat and we were all hearing the same thing over and over again and when I finally got a chance to spit it out, it came out great,” EKG said. “It’s all of us telling our own unique love stories. At the time I had met someone that I wanted to show the world to, but not give her the world. But it was one of those relationships that I knew wasn’t gonna work out. A.M., on the other hand, is rapping about someone he wants to give the world to Overall, it’s a love vibe and everything is so vibrant and in tune to the moment.”

The single is one that is true to his trajectory as an artist. After releasing his first single “The Love Letter,” his career has made a steady rise over the past few years. He released an album in 2017 called “Lit at the 30” which has seen success across all streaming platforms. And more recently, he’s been preparing to release his new album “The Struggle” which will break down a lot of urban stereotypes and talk about his current position and the challenges he’s faced to get to where he is today in his career.

“A lot of people go too deep into it and say that their situation has to be a product of their environment,” EKG said. “I have had a mentor growing up who is no longer with us, and he taught me that you have to change the notion that you have to be a stereotype or a statistic or a product of your environment. You don’t have to be that. You can be different. For me, that meant getting in the studio and finishing off this album and showing the world how to do things a different way.”

The album should release this fall, EKG said. In the meantime, “Thing 4 You” is available across all streaming platforms.

Reality – Thoughts of You

ME Blog, Music, Promo

New King of Hip-Hop SoulReality, set to drop hot new EP ‘10/1/12’

Everybody has a moment in life that defines them – that turning point during which something profound happens and reshapes the way you think, act and live. For Reality Wilson, that day happened on 10/1/12. That was the day he and his former girlfriend first got together and started a relationship, and the seven-hour conversation that the two of them had that evening was a dialogue that turned out to be an eye-opener for him in almost every way possible.

Not only has he commemorated that day with a tattoo of the date on his right hand, but he has also created a new EP entitled “10/1/12” that’s set to be released on Aug. 7. Self-dubbed as a coming-of-age story, the project is one that takes listeners on a journey from youth into adulthood by way of the sounds and styles that have been developed by this budding young artist from the inner city of New York. From nostalgic vibes associated with his first love in high school to different reflections of moods and vibes that have come in the years since the end of that relationship, this EP has it all.

“The whole project is me overcoming   the obstacles of young love and serves as a metaphor for leaving things in the past and moving on,” Reality said. “It can also serve as a metaphor of the things that are going on in our country right now. The first track is called ‘Conversation’ and we really do need to have a conversation about what’s going on right now. ‘Thoughts of You’ uses raw Hip Hop to give some of that old school vibe because everybody needs some old school right now. Every song on the EP has a message like that, and it ends with ‘Revenge.’ To me the best revenge is success.”

When it comes to Reality’s music, he’s 100 percent authentic. He considers everything he does as a hit, though he admits that he defines a hit differently than most. While not every song will be a top-10 chart song, he said everything he creates will be a hit for a specific time and place and theme. And when the listener is in that kind of space and hears his song, it will hit them hard and in the perfect way.

That kind of ability to hit so many audiences with such perfection is a rare talent for someone so young. At only age 22, Reality is carving a niche for himself in the industry. Already, major industry execs are looking at him with interest because he has the kind of sound and style that is unlike anything else out there.

“I’m about real music,” he said. “Music is music. It’s a frequency. I don’t even like to call myself a rapper or singer – I’m a frequency. The art is gonna create itself. I don’t have to do much.”

According to his manager and long-time music industry insider, Randy Connor, Reality has the kind of once-in-a-lifetime talent that is destined to change the face of Hip Hop.

“He is an incredible talent,” Connor said. “I’ve spent a lifetime developing artists and he is super talented. He’s a legitimate MC in terms of a Rap artist, but he’s also an amazing vocalist and music producer. He does all of those things and he does them so well that we really believe he’s the new King of Hip-Hop Soul. He’s the male version of Mary J Blige.”
