Daz Payne – Rich Boy Trap

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Daz Payne blends underground rap vibes with R&B approach on upbeat new hit ‘Rich Boy Trap’

LOS ANGELES, CA – Daz Payne is a veteran artist who is introducing a new spin of sound and style that music lovers around the world have been familiar with for years. His mix of Trap, traditional rap and a more underground hip-hop vibe contrasts in intriguing ways against a smooth R&B approach, and the end result is a truly original take on music. If you’re a fan of artists such as The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, or Anderson Paak, you’ll love what Daz Payne is bringing to the table.

His latest single “Rich Boy Trap” is a perfect example of this signature style. Described as a vibe that feels a bit like the popular Netflix series “Black Mirror” mentality, the song explores what it takes to stay centered when there are a lot of distractions going on in life.

“It’s a response to my life now,” Payne said. “I have a new daughter who is 11 months old and doesn’t always sleep through the night. I wrote this song late at night when I was frustrated and had sleep deprivation. I channeled that energy into this song. It’s pretty upbeat with a good dance tempo, and the lyrics blend pretty well. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to go to the club and just put your head in a drink and have some fun.”

The title of the song comes from an idea that Payne has been exploring for the past couple of years. Compared to where he used to be in his life, he’s now doing well financially with a strong family life and stability. He’s an artist who has transitioned out of the streets and now has a more legitimate situation. He’s making money as an entrepreneur which is where the Rich Boy name comes in. But with more money comes more problems … it’s a trap, so to speak. The name of the song, therefore, serves as a warning to himself and others not to let ego run away out of control.

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Payne initially set his sights on playing in the NFL. He played cornerback for Army at West Point until a devastating knee injury and the sudden death of his father saw him transfer to the University of Houston and ultimately ended his football career. The experience unlocked his new life mission: to become the world’s biggest superstar.

“I always felt I had a special talent for making music,” he said. “God gave me a gift that I wasn’t using at all. My father’s passing was like a wake-up call. I couldn’t waste another moment.”

Mitch Gambino – Can’t Stand Me

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Videos

Catchy swag pairs with aggressive lyrics on new single from Mitch Gambino

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Bouncy swag meets in-your-face lyrics on the latest hit single from Midwest artist Mitch Gambino. “Can’t Stand Me” is a catchy Hip Hop groove with a splash of R&B flare that will definitely make listeners bop their heads. But it’s the lyrics that really drive home the power of this fast-rising young artist. Gambino pulls no punches as he goes all-in with what he’s going through at this point – railing against the haters in his life and throwing out challenge after challenge to anyone who says he can’t make it big in today’s music industry.

“The world can’t stand me,” he said. “The hate is real. That’s what this song is about. It’s pretty aggressive, but it has a chill vibe, too. When I heard the beat, I just came out spitting all bars. I bring the streets with a different type of swag. I tell my own story and I just feel like I have a unique type of vibe. I can bring different types of vibes across all my music because I can do any type of beat. You throw me on a beat and I’m gonna go off on it.”

It’s not just his amazing flow that leaves listeners in awe, either. Gambino boasts some great vocals which he puts on full display on “Can’t Stand Me.” Cleverly incorporating some auto-tune effects, Gambino flows effortlessly between rapping and singing which is where the subtlest hint of R&B seeps into his sound. He said that style will continue to be showcased on more singles that he has planned for this year, including “Wit Gang,” “My Wave” and “Time Change,” all of which will be released wide in the next couple of months. Eventually, he said he’ll drop a full album but he’s currently focusing on perfecting these singles and shooting full-production videos for them.

“I want people to know I’m a real person with no funny or fake vibes,” he said. “Everything I create is true and genuine. I’m not in it just to make a buck. Everything I’m saying is coming from me. I’m rapping about what I’ve been through and my experiences and through that, I’m relating to other people who have been through similar things.”

Gambino said a bit part of his success to date comes from the great team with which he’s surrounded himself – especially Benny Blanco who is a fellow artist on the Money Ave Label. The two have done some songs together, and Blanco has even been featured on a song with notorious rapper Don Tripp.

ValenciaP – Try Me

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

ValenciaP Turns Over New Leaf on Transformation

ValenciaP remembers where she’s been. The past remains close to her heart. But more than that, she understands the power of the future. Letting go of what used to be and seeking what will be. A changing season… Metamorphosis… ValenciaP is an artist in transition. She’s become something entirely new. Fans can recognize this palpable sense of transition in ValenciaP’s butterfly logo. “I was shy,” she revealed. “I promised myself I would never be homeless again. When I started writing and producing music, I saw a caterpillar at my front door. I took that as a sign that I was becoming something different. I’d been changed into ValenciaP, the artist.”

Her album Transformation (out April 5 and pre-orders April 1) finds a ValenciaP charting unmapped territory. Though she grew up singing in the youth choir, it wasn’t until she began writing her material that she felt called beyond comfort. “As a kid, I would make up beats with my hands,” she said. “When I got older, I started doing music on my own. Around 2007, I started doing beats on my own (on the computer) and writing. 2020 was the first time I produced music. I wanted to express my feelings about stuff that’s out there in the world.”

ValenciaP unveiled the Transformation track “Try Me” as her introduction to the world. The serendipitous track carries magic that awaits discovery. “One day I was just mixing,” said ValenciaP. “Practicing with using some beats and loops and stuff. I heard that beat and I loved it! I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, I love that! That’s fire!’ So, I went with it. Then I thought about the Ying Yang Twins. I said, ‘I should whisper in this song.’ And that made it even better.”

Though the Transformation album itself represents ValenciaP following her dreams, other references to dreams abound. Tracks like “Adam & Eve” and “Cinderella Never-Ending Love Story” detail astral encounters with a soul-mate-to-be. “I’ve had recurring dreams about a man I’ve never met,” explained ValenciaP. That’s what ‘Adam & Eve’ is about. Being in love with someone you’ve never met.”

As a self-taught musician and author, ValenciaP is entirely a one-woman show. Aside from music, her artistic journey also includes film production. “I’m hoping to make my movies one day and do music videos and stuff like that,” said ValenciaP. “But music is my passion. I love being creative. The trouble would get someone to work with my creativity. But I think it would help my music. And it would help me be more extroverted.”

Besides the Transformation album release, ValenciaP will also perform via a live stream. Fans can catch her at the ITNS Radio Showcase Showdown April 16 – April 19. Tickets start at $5.

Johnny Brooks – Quiet

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Johnny Brooks continues legacy of making hits with latest single ‘Quiet’

MIAMI, FL – Johnny Brooks takes melodic rapping to another level. The multitalented artist from Miami, Florida has been building music from the ground up for the past decade, creating unique sounds and styles for Hip Hop purists and those filling the record shops, concert halls and lyricist lounges around the world. With head-nodding hooks and a genuine ease on a track, his music captures the attention of the staunchest supporters of old-school Hip Hop mixed with contemporary sensibilities.

His latest single, “Quiet” was released on March 23, and is the perfect example of how this seasoned veteran of the industry makes some of the highest-quality music in the game today. Produced by Rico Santana, the smooth Hip Hop groove is the most organic creation of his career. Unlike most of the other songs he’s crafted in years ‘past, “Quiet” was born in the moment from a beat that Santana put on one day in the studio and Brooks just improvised on the spot.

“I just started going off the dome, basically,” he said. “It just came out naturally. I didn’t think much about it – when I heard the beat he made, I just started flowing. It was extremely organic, and I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s about a girl who disappeared on a guy out of the blue and the strong connection between them. The fire died out over time and the guy never understood why. He goes on a quest to find out where she went and to try to re-ignite the flame and remind her that they have a spark that can’t be found anywhere else.”

The St. Maarten-bred Brooks was born into a musical family and is no stranger to late nights in the studio. His parents opened the first professional recording studio in St. Maarten in 1984, and throughout his childhood, he was able to rub shoulders with some of the best up-and-coming artists of the Caribbean. He also got a front-row seat to the process of making hits, and his hands-on education paid off over the years as he gradually developed a signature style of his own. With strong roots in Reggae and the pedigree of his surname, it would have been easy for Brooks to continue the tradition in the stylings of the Caribbean. But experiencing the polar opposite lifestyles between the affluence of his white mother and the trenches of his black father, Brooks opted to venture in a different direction with his musical talents by way of Hip Hop – the language of his generation. Immersing himself in the popular sounds of Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie and Tupac, he began to create hits like “Thoughts Never Die” and “Test the Potency,” which resonated with an ever-widening global fanbase.

“My music is just feel-good vibes,” he said. “It’s therapeutic. That’s what I’m aiming for and hoping to bring to the table when I’m creating these songs – some kind of positive impact to the listener. As such, there probably won’t ever be a ‘perfect touch,’ but there will always be a vibe that you feel. That’s why I’m able to create and just flow. I’m demonstrating to the world that I can create a vibe for you that you can enjoy.”

Following “Quiet,” Brooks said he has plans to release another single called “Landscape” which should come out this summer.

YGK Drako drops energetic Trap groove with new single ‘Show Off’

LITTLE ROCK, AR – For Justin Utsey, music has always been a way to escape, stay positive and connect with people who share his similar story. Troubled by a rough life growing up on the streets of the south side of Little Rock, Arkansas, this young artist who goes by the stage name YGK Drako turned to boxing, and fighting became a mainstay throughout much of his younger years. But in 2007, he discovered a love for music and found that he had a natural talent for creating unique sounds and styles that others seemed to love. Music became his escape from a life of crime, and he hasn’t looked back since.

His latest single, “Show Off,” is a chill, mellow vibe with a Trap groove that is one of the hottest tracks he’s ever created. Currently available across all digital streaming platforms, the song has a catchy energy that pairs perfectly with his bars as he raps about anything and everything that might cross his path on a daily basis.

“This is me showing what I can do while trying to reinvent myself,” he said. “I just wanted to change some things up and show people my new self. I’m rapping about money and jewelry and cars and being from the hood, and just all the everyday things I’ve seen. I’m just trying to be myself and stay original. I don’t try to keep up with whatever anyone else is doing. I’m just being true to who I am.”

YGK Drako said one of the things that helps him stand out from the midst of a crowded music industry is his unique voice. Inspired by legends like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Future, YGK Drako fuses his Rap with a wide variety of other styles from various other genres. He credits artists like Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Adele, and Justin Bieber as just a few of the musicians who have helped to expand his appreciation for good music.

“Like them, I just want to be known as a great artist,” he said. “Anything you hear from me is gonna be something hype. I’m looking to do this for the rest of my life because this is truly something I’m passionate about. I’ve never heard another artist with my voice, and I’m ready for the world to hear it.”

Following “Show Off,” YGK Drako said he has another single called “Curry” set to drop in March.

Deep – Nothing’s Impossible

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

West Coast artist Deep chronicles life-changing experiences on album ‘In Too Deep’

INGLEWOOD, CA – Music was always an ever-present part of life for Deep. Growing up in Inglewood, California, there were three constants: hooping, gang banging, and rappingAlthough hstarted on the wrong path of violence, three life-changing moments served to help him choose music instead and to embrace his destiny as the musician now known as Deep.

The first of his three encounters happened with his girlfriend (now-wife). By his sophomore year in high school, Deep had become more and more entrenched in street life. One day out of the blue, his girlfriend had a heart-to-heart with him. “If you get killed or go to prison, how are we gonna take care of a family?”, she asked him. That was the first eye-opening moment. The second came when he and some friends were confronted by some gang members with guns. Though no shots were fired and no one was hurt from that experience, it was a situation that shocked him to his core and made him wonder if he got killed, would he go to hell? Those thoughts rattled around in his head until his mother one day dragged him to church. He really didn’t want to go, but he went since his mother was so adamant about it. Serving as the final revelation to change his life, the sermon from the preacher that day is still vivid in his memory. He gave his testimony about walking away from a life of crime and street life. Deep realized that if Rev. Jones could do it, he could, too.

“I never looked back from there,” Deep said. “I had always been a kid who loved music and was really into poetry, but as my life began to change – so did my lyrics. As a result, whenever I would spit – people would respond, “That’s deep!” Everything became deeper the more I looked deep within myself to discover my true character. That’s one of the reasons why I took that as my name because I want my music to represent change and encourage people to look deep within as well. I could go the route of gang banging, or I could go the route of following the Lord. When I made that change, everything got deeper and life started being more potent.”

Today, Deep brings real life to his music and offers a multifaceted sound and style to complement his deep lyrics. On his most recent album “In Too Deep”, fans can get a bevy of different styles. His opening song, “Going Hard,” is a fusion of Reggae and Hip Hop. He has a Pop groove called “Toast.” He has a love song called “Falling in Love.” And he has a very lyrical track called “My Lyrical Thesis.” And his latest track to hit the airwaves is a Gospel song with an edge called “Nothing’s Impossible.”

“It’s me telling my story of growing up in Inglewood and how God changed my life,” he said. “I want to show people that even with all the things you go through, with God nothing is impossible. Even if you don’t believe in God, this can be a song that’s just encouraging – whatever you go through, you can get through it. Don’t lose faith. Win or lose that day, keep your head up. It’s powerful, which is what I want my music to be for other people. I make relatable music that challenges people to see a different outlook.”

Deep said he’s currently at work on a follow-up album called “A Higher Purpose” which will take the lyrical content to the next level and embrace more of the Pop vibes he experimented with on his previous album.

YoungKingbd – Off-White

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Young King with Big Dreams drops energy-filled new single ‘Off-White’

Young King with Big Dreams, also known as Youngkingbd, is an East Coast artist who was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. As a kid growing up in Nigeria, Young King was constantly reminded of how talented he was musically by his friends. They would call him the King, and when he came to America at age 14, he fully embraced that moniker and began pursuing a life of music.

Today, this fast-rising young talent is making a name for himself in the industry with hits like “Antidote” and “Rainstorm,” and he’s about to take his career to the next level with his new hit single “Off-White.” Currently available across all streaming platforms, “Off-White” is a perfect display of this young man’s talent. Opening with a piano intro that sets a light, airy tone throughout the song, Young King soon drops a bouncy beat that lays the perfect foundation for his swaggy flow. The piano melody gives the song a lightness that serves as a perfect companion for the catchy hooks and fun flow.

“I wanted to capture the different vibes and energy around me at the time of making the song,” Young King said. “I also wanted some catchy parts in the song and I wanted to talk about my lifestyle at the moment, highlighting the things I was doing now compared to how I was before. I put all the different artistic parts of me into one song and then focused the main part on the Melodic Rap. Ultimately, I wanted to showcase the artistic part of me.”

Young King is one of those rare artists who can literally adjust to any type of beat. He’s been known to hop on Drill music, Rap, R&B, Trap, melodies … anything and everything you can think of. And of course, being originally from Nigeria, he sometimes taps into Afrobeats. More than anything, he likes to meld those genres together to try to find original sounds and styles that are different from anything else out there. And through that work, he has developed his own record label, Music Oven The Label. He’s been able to collaborate with people like Dr. Jay and Al Mojo, and he’s quickly becoming one of the most talked about artists on the East Coast.

“I just want my music to showcase success,” he said. “How do you level up? That’s the energy of ‘Off-White.’ When you listen, what are you vibing with? I want people to get the energy of being lit. You’re rocking better drips, or you’ve got a nice car, or you’ve got a bad bitch – that’s the energy I want people to get from this.”

In addition to “Off-White,” Young King has a couple of music videos about to release, and said he’s planning on releasing more music later this year.

Marcus Lane – Going on a Date

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Marcus Lane redefines Hip Hop with an uncanny sound on new singles ‘Going on a Date’ and ‘Business Body’

Marcus Lane can only be described as an uncanny artist. He puts himself into a seat of professionalism and takes all of the lessons he’s learned from the legends of Hip Hop and then creates his own original sound and vibe for something that is equal parts nostalgic and fresh. His latest single, “Going on a Date” is the perfect example of how Lane offers an old-school feel with a new-school vibe. “Going on a Date” offers a transcendent, melodic sound that will intrigue the listener but is ready made for the ladies.

“It’s one of those songs that let women know how they can make themselves perfect,” Lane said. “It’s about helping them to be confident and comfortable in their own skin. I always have my way with the women. I always charm my way into their hearts, and guys want to be like me because my style and mannerisms are so hypnotic and effortless. It just comes out naturally. Every time I write music, that’s what it is, and this song is no different.

Currently available across all streaming platforms, “Going on a Date” is the perfect example of how Lane makes music that’s vibrant on different levels – whether it’s Trap or pure Hip Hop or any other genre. He said he’s going to fill that gap in music that mixes different genres and creates a style that hasn’t yet been identified. That’s why he considers himself to be an uncanny artist – he’s bringing a vibrant vibe on different levels with vocals and melodies that creep into your soul and will be memorable for years to come.

“My mentality is optimistic and my sound is Tone Rap Natural Melodic that creeps into your mind,” he said. “Sometimes, I will be in an adlib and vocal stacking adlibs that pan from one ear and out the other. It creates a mood – but my music is evolving around the street, glamour, sex and jewels. My music is an enraptured delight that will turn you on when you listen to it “make you feel me”.

In addition to “Going on a Date,” Lane also has recently released the song “Business Body” which showcases yet another facet of his talented sound and style. As with “Going on a Date,” “Business Body” is a song intended for the ladies. He said it’s a song aimed at women who understand they can use their bodies for their advantage. “It’s like a motto for women”, he said. “Women who understand that their bodies can be used as tools to get what they want.”

Lane said he’ll follow these singles up with more music and will be dropping a mixtape later this year.

Zanu – Heathens

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Texas-based artist Zanu starts journey toward becoming greatest showman with new album ‘MackingAintDead

HOUSTON, TX – You can get a lot more out of what you want in life if you know how to mack. That’s the sentiment behind the new album “MackingAintDead” from Texas-based artist Zanu. The Hip Hop project with heavy influences of R&B and Afrobeats is the culmination of two years’ worth of work from this up-and-coming young artist. At only age 22 he’s starting to garner attention throughout the South, and with this new album, is primed to leave his mark on the national stage.

“I want to be more than just an artist and entertainer,” he said. “I want to be the greatest showman there is. I want to redefine what an emcee is in modern day Hip Hop. I want to put on the greatest show the world has ever seen. I came from a lineage that knew nothing but excellence. My granddad came from the villages of Ghana and became a diplomat. My mom is a doctor and my pop is a businessman. My older sister is out here making moves with her life, just like me. I’ve trained in music for more than 10 years and I believe I got what it takes to be the best – to be one of those larger-than-life-artists. This is an album from a winner’s perspective. It’s an album about being the best in the room – the king. You want to learn how to win? Listen to the man born winning. Listen to the man born macking. Because Mackingaintdead man. My music comes from the perspective of unapologetic royalty, excellence, and bravado. I’m changing the world and I’ll look good as hell while doing it.”

Zanu said he started his journey as a musician when at the age of 7 he began learning how to play the piano. At age 8, he started dancing and by age 11, he was rapping and writing his own music. He grew up listening to Hip Hop and R&B, as well as Afrobeats – all of which find their way into his music in one way or another. This is especially true of his albums debut single, “Heathens,” which already has more than 15,000 streams since its release less than two months ago.

“It’s a fun vibe that my producer friend helped out with by adding some bells and high hats,” Zanu said. “We made it three years ago and I sat on it because I didn’t have the right lyrics for it. Then I was chilling one day and having fun and just started rapping. I was calling my friends heathens because we’re out here trying to get shit done and looking good doing it. We were always getting paid because we’re always on top of our shit. Girls want to be with a boss – with a heathen. You can be a boss without trying to be the hardest in the room. I don’t want to be the token black guy in the crowd. I’m running just as good as anyone else, or even better. All of that came together on this song.”

Zanu said he’s excited for new fans to get a taste of his music and ultimately, he has aspirations of creating music that will be known throughout the world. He wants to bring a new vision of Hip Hop that people have never heard before – something that breathes new life into an already lively genre.
