Alexia – Lemonade

New York singer/songwriter Alexia drops quarantine summer anthem ‘Lemonade’

If there’s one positive side effect of the global quarantine, it’s that people have learned how to be creative in entertaining themselves. For New York Pop artist Alexia, that time alone has been enlightening, and her latest single “Lemonade” is a fun summer song that perfectly captures the joy she discovered while being alone over the past few months.

The chill bedroom-Pop vibe of the song offers a commercial sound to the world underneath fun lyrics that encourages people to let go of their anxiety and embrace this unique time of life.

“I had taken a huge break from music writing because of the external and internal pressures of following a certain career path that distracted me from creating music,” Alexia said. “This is the first song I wrote during that time, and it’s just about letting go and having fun. In the time we’re in, I think of lot of people are trying to figure out how to go on, and I found that focusing on myself and learning how to enjoy my own company was transformative. I found that I really want to dive into music again, and this song is special to me because it is the song that represents all of that. ‘Lemonade’ is a song that everyone can dance to – even if it’s no longer at bars, but in your own bedroom. It has lightness but also really focuses on the time we have gone through this summer, finding ourselves and not focusing on the external world to define us.”

Alexia’s sound and style is something that can only be described as diverse. She’s either singing super lo-fi Pop, cool-girl Pop, or writing ballads or dance hits. She takes all of those different genres and turns them into her own kind of genre and signature sound. She said the next songs she plans to release will be much different in tone and vibe from “Lemonade” with hints of R&B mixed with classic Rock or Drake-like smooth vibes mixed with the brooding energy of someone like Billie Eilish

“I’m all about authenticity in the moment,” she said. “That helps me to be really genre-less. I don’t want to conform to a genre. I want to really evolve with the times and be completely transparent about my experience. I think I will always keep in mind a really strong melody, and I want my audience to know I’m putting my all into this. I really want to be a songwriter and get my name out. I love to collaborate, and if this opens doors for me to be able to work with other artists and be immersed in the art then that’s all I care about. I really believe in my natural ability as a songwriter and I just want to be myself and evolve as an artist.”

Following “Lemonade,” Alexia said she plans on releasing another single she wrote during quarantine called “Growing Up.”

Dian Rene – Ayudame

Blog, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Latin artist with undeniable talent
drops hot new summer single ‘La Cocinerita

MIAMI, FL – The world’s next new Latin artist has arrived on the scene. And if you aren’t already paying attention to his music, then you better join the crowd.

Hailing from Cuba but making his home in Miami, Florida, young Dian Rene has the kind of voice that only comes along once in a generation. Already he’s made a name for himself internationally with performances in Cuba and throughout the U.S., and a stint on the television show “The Four” helped catapult him onto a larger national stage. In the two years since that television performance, Dian has been perfecting his unique sound and style. His previous single “Ayudame” has millions of views on YouTube and is the kind of Latin dance track that is perfect for the clubs. And now, he’s set to follow that up with his hot new single “La Cocinerita.”

According to Dian, the song is a mix between Reggaeton and Dance Hall, and tells the story of a guy in a relationship with a girl who genuinely cares about him.

“Basically, she’s treating me better than my ex,” Dian said. “The name of the song in English means ‘the cook,’ and I’m using that as a way of saying that now I have a woman who not only feeds me literally but also goes out of her way to take care of me. There’s a double meaning in the word – I have a girl who cares about me and takes care of me and there’s a depth to the relationship.”

Dian said his writing style is one that embraces double entendres and metaphors similar to “La Cocinerita” in ways that use words to paint pictures and put ideas into the minds of his listeners. When he combines that with vocals that soar and are undeniably talented, it makes for music that cannot be ignored. Add to that his charisma on stage and energy as an entertainer and Dian is easily one of the most important Latin artists to arrive on the international stage today.

In addition to “La Cocinerita,” Dian has plans to release a full album later this summer. Having worked his ways to this point in his career by struggling as a young musician in Cuba before coming to the U.S. with his sister four years ago, Dian said he’s anxious to finally see his dreams become a reality. And while producers and industry insiders with whom he has worked over the years have praised his vocal talent and ability as an artist, he said getting his name and face in front of the masses has been a struggle.

“I’ve been singing since I was born, really,” he said. “It’s not just my dream, it’s my life. I don’t take ‘NO’ for an answer, but it’s not an easy industry to break into. I’ve been working hard to get my music out, and I’m anxious for people to see me as an entertainer. I’ll give you that feeling of joy when you watch me. I just sing because that’s my life.”

New Music: Vi City – OnGOD Featuring Harv

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music

Vi City Releases A Hot New Single “OnGOD” Featuring Harv

One of Chicago’s very own, Vi City, originally from the south side in the “Wild Hundreds” known to us as “Wild Wild” or the “Wild Hunnits”, is back on the music scene. Crafting a sound that captures the pain and hope of a youth striving to make a better way, combined with the ambition and skills to actually have made it out, the celebratory tones reign supreme on this wave of sound for the veteran rapper, songwriter and producer.

Vi’s introduction to the game came via working with Mathaus Ent. & Chilly of the 1st & 15th label in conjunction with Lupe Fiasco. Shortly after, he connected with DJ Skee to release a mixtape under Skee’s Skeeter’s TV label. His next stint came working with St. Louis’ own, Nelly, co – penning the hit Country N**** Fly (CNF).

In the midst of acquiring a deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), Vi wrote and featured on “Some Ish” by Sir Michael Rocks ft. Twista off of his #1 debut solo album “Banco.” Along the way, he co-produced and wrote with the iconic producer duo Da Interz (Tuo Clark & Kosine) combining with them to work on projects for Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Nas. Vi also has music placed on the hit show Empire.

Prior to deciding to drop new music of his own, Vi founded and branded Hundreds Entertainment, a music and film production firm of which he signed talented artist, Phoînix Keyz out of St. Louis, MO and has started crafting Phoînix’ debut project around each of the 6 instruments he plays.

TRUTHR – Strange Places

Industry Spotlight, Music

East Coast based artist TRUTHR hopes to open some eyes with new singles

NORFOLK, VA – Today’s culture is one filled with people seeking out that next high. There’s not enough content in the world to meet the demands of the masses – from streaming platforms to movie theaters to thrill rides at amusement parks and everything in between. The desire for that daily dose of dopamine drives people to truly seek out new experiences, and sometimes it leads them to strange places.

This is the theme that East Coast artist TRUTHR explores with his latest single, “Strange Places.” It’s a song with a deep, dark vibe paired with a hook and melody that is catchy and impossible to ignore. Like its name, the song offers an otherworldly vibe that embraces the mindset of a lot of people in the world today, sporting powerful production by Chxnce.

“This generation ain’t got no patience,” TRUTHR says. “We want it all now. That’s how I feel and it’s how I see other people feeling.”  This song presents that idea and then kind of leaves things open for interpretation based on how people would define ‘all’ for themselves. At the end of the day it’s about seeking fulfillment. Many people  are unfulfilled, numb and lifeless … and what does that say about our society?

“Strange Places” also showcases TRUTHR’s unique vocal inflections and one-of-a-kind sound and style. From an early age, he wanted to rap and sing which wasn’t usual for the time but in this era, it’s the new standard so TRUTHR comes well prepared. More than anything, he focuses on the lyrics, working hard to pick the perfect words to convey the message and feeling to which he hopes others will relate.

“I try to keep it uplifting and I’m often exploring things in the metaphysical and spiritual realms,” he said. “I’ve done a lot of studies on those things on the side. I like looking past the veil of reality, and a lot of my music will reference my experiences of observing the deceptions in the world and the truths in the world.”

That is, of course, where his stage name comes from – though he also admits that he tends to associate with the “truther” community, with all of its conspiracy theories.

“Truth has always been my theme, and my music – and even the dialogue I use in my everyday life – lends itself to the exploration of the truth behind things,” he said. “A lot of times, the things that we are shown today are presented in a shifty manner. We don’t see the full picture … especially in the music industry. But I’m more open-minded and in the long run, what feels like my mission is refining the truth in my life and sharing that with other people. I want that to be part of my brand and what people think when they hear my name – someone who makes good music that they can party to or relax to or just vibe to and feel good, but who also drops wisdom.”

In addition to “Strange Places,” TRUTHR has also recently released two other singles with music videos – “Elevate,” a song that encourages listeners to step up their game, and “It’s On Me,” a song that’s about money and TRUTHR’s desire to alleviate some of the pressures of life for those around him.

EL-JAY – My Bae Remix

Industry Spotlight, Music

Urban pop sensation El-Jay releases new single “My Bae Remix”

LOS ANGELES, CA – West coast artist, El-Jay has undeniable appeal. His song, “My Bae Remix” has been burning up on Soundcloud. Since earlier this year, the song has been streamed over 16 million times. The feel good, uptempo “My Bae Remix” featuring Shorty Mack is uplifting, urban pop with a catchy beat and memorable lyrics.

Produced by Trequik, the single was recorded in Los Angeles and tested at a number of venues in LA County, where audiences went crazy for it. Originally testing with a lower quality recording, El-Jay and his team recorded the track in a new studio, and had the song remixed and mastered hence, the title of the song – “My Bae Remix” – which will be available on all digital platforms within the week.

Shortly after the song’s rebirth, El-Jay had the opportunity to perform at a number of festivals, including a Long Beach engagement in front of over five thousand people, and “My Bae” started to take off from there. Part of El-Jay’s success comes from his ability to connect with individuals by showing them love and compassion, whether he is performing at a big festival or an intimate venue. “When they feel that love, they know it’s genuine, and that’s the best feeling in the world,” El-Jay said.

The recently released music video for “My Bae Remix” was filmed like a movie in Los Angeles.. Director Christopher Jackson teamed up with Cinematographer Konrad Sedochenkoff to visually deliver the song’s message in a trendy, exhilarating style. “It was to show that appeal and that love for that other person,” El-Jay said. “If I have that connection with you – you’re my bae! No matter what anybody else says or does. That’s not going to affect our vibe or where we’re at.”

Growing up in the music industry, El-Jay has been grooving in music studios since he was six years old. As the son of double platinum singer, Rome (“I Belong to You”), El-Jay saw his father finishing albums on very tight schedules. His father’s work ethic impacted El-Jay, and he was also heavily influenced by Michael Jackson. From the age of 3, El-Jay watched and imitated Jackson’s signature moves.

El-Jay stepped away from the music scene for awhile, wanting to get involved when he was ready. After pursuing his interest in sports, El-Jay turned to acting and modeling. He appeared in a runway modeling show with The Model Experience, and was booked as a main character in the viral music video, “Swang” by Rae Sremmurd. El-Jay has also appeared in major TV shows, commercials, movies and other music videos.

El-Jay is also CEO of his own record label, Starz Music Group which will be releasing all of his music and videos. “My Bae Remix” is the first single from El-Jay’s upcoming “Intentions” album. Before the album’s release in mid 2020, El-Jay will be dropping a few more singles including “Waste No Time” and “Special.” The latter song appears on the soundtrack of the Josh Webber production, “Never Heard,” a movie which also features El-Jay in an acting role.

Getting ready to launch a college tour within the next two months, this winner of the 2018 Hollywood Music Media Award for Best Rap/Hip Hop is really excited about the future. El-Jay has truly found his voice and signature sound. He was waiting for the right time to return to his roots in the music industry … and clearly, that time is now.

Almighty Swavve – The Man

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

WaveGod Almighty Swavve delivers a unique blend of East Coast and Deep South sounds

LONG ISLAND, NY – Duane McKenzie – AKA Almighty Swavve – is creating a wave of music that demands attention. His sound is raw and straight edge. He’s not embellishing anything. His edgy style pairs perfectly with versatile content in a way that is making people all along the East Coast sit up and pay attention.

The 21-year-old from Long Island, New York has a unique blend of East Coast influence mixed with Deep South sounds that he began to fuse together during his time living in Fort Worth, Texas. That one-of-a-kind sound is something that has already started to put him on the map, and it will be the thing that makes him a household name across the U.S. in the months and years to come.

“You could say I’m a message sender or a prophet,” he said of his music. “I’m a street prophet. I’m someone who says things that a lot of people don’t want to talk about or hide. I’m the Robin Hood of the streets, but through music. I write about everything that goes around. Sometimes, my music contradicts itself but ultimately, my music is all about life. And it comes to you through an almighty wave. I am the WaveGod.”

Swavve said WAVE GOD stands for “Watch Allies Value Enemies Good Overrides Destruction.” He said it’s an idea born from the trials and tribulations he’s faced not only in his life but specifically in his journey to realize his dream of becoming a professional musician.

“I’ve had a lot of people who smiled in my face and said they wanted something from me but they weren’t looking for my best interests,” he said. “And I’ve had people who I didn’t really get along with, but who pushed me to a place where I had to be better. I always had to be elite with them. I put that idea into my music and my way of life. You can see it in how I walk and talk, and the people I surround myself with. That’s what it means to be a WaveGod. Anyone can be a WaveGod. Your friends can hurt you worse than your enemies can, but good can always override destruction. That’s what my music is all about.”

That music is put on full display with his two EPs that are currently available on all streaming platforms. Both EPs are appropriately titled “WaveGod” though the second one bears the additional tagline “Splash Season.” Swavve said he also has music videos on his YouTube channel and is currently working on more music that plans to release in early 2020. Specifically, he has a mixtape he’s working on called “Haunt the Industry” which he said should drop in January.

BandzmanJavii – Murda Rate

Industry Spotlight, Music

BandzmanJavii builds on online stream success with Street Rap EP, “BANDZMAN 1.5”

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – From hot and sultry south Florida comes a rapper with a different sound and hard hitting beats. Hip Hop / Rap artist and freestyling master BandzmanJavii delivers a fresh sound for every beat he hops on. Javii released the EP titled “BANDZMAN 1.5” earlier this year, following the triumphs of his online catalog. The 4 song EP is a teaser for the full 14 track album, “BANDZMAN,” which is slated to drop in early 2020.

BandzmanJavii’s appeal is undeniable. The songs in his online collection have been enjoyed by thousands of listeners. Only a few months ago, Javii released a track called “Opposition” on SoundCloud through United Masters. Out of nowhere, the song completely blew up. To date, this track alone has been streamed over 100,000 times.

Javii likes to go with the vibe of a beat once inside the recording booth, and he first freestyled “Murda Rate” (one of his favorite tracks from the EP) to a different beat. He was encouraged by friends to rap on a new beat and ended up liking the second version better. Unlike the fictional rhymes of some emerging rappers, Javii’s rap is cutting and real. “Sometimes they rap about things they’re not really doing. In my songs, I’m just telling stories about my life,” Javii said. “I’m rapping for people who can relate to my songs – the people in the streets.”

As leader/founder of the crew BMG (Bandzman Group), Javii is collaborating with other artists in his city for his latest projects. Working with skilled rappers, BandzmanJay, BandzmanFlamo, & J.Glizzy, Javii brought out the EP and continues work on the new album. The Bandzman Group also has plans to release a music video for “Murda Rate” later this year.

BandzmanJavii (whose real name is Jamal Hewitt) was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Florida in 2016. He grew up listening to Chief Keef, Waka Flocka Flame, Young Boy NBA, Young Thug, Lil Durk, Boosie Badazz and Kendrick Lamar, and started making his own music in 2017. After getting his first computer, Javii experimented by freestyling on top of different beats he found online. One of his songs was uploaded the day it was finished and was played over a thousand times right off the bat. Positive feedback continued to pour in for his creations and he kept working with his sound and improving his craft until he perfected his own distinct style. BandzmanJavii decided to seriously launch his music career earlier this year, and has never looked back.
