TYBenji – It Takes Time

Industry Spotlight, Music, Promo

New rapper out of Dallas brings eccentric, crazy vibe to Hip Hop with mixtape ‘Drip’

DALLAS, TX – TyBenji is a conquering artist from the Deep South whose unique sound and style is set to propel his life into fame and superstardom. His new single “It Takes Time” is a testament to the hard work he’s put in to get to this point in his career. It also serves as a statement to the world that he’s a new artist on the scene that people should pay attention to. It’s an aggressive song that perfectly showcases his unique lyrical ability and one-of-a-kind delivery as a rapper.

“It’s a song that says it took a minute to get to where I’m at,” said the young artist from Dallas, Texas. “I have a strong foundation now and though there have been some rough times along the way, everything else from here is gonna be smoother. The biggest thing I’ve had to overcome is just getting my foot in the door and finding the courage to do what I want to do. Now that I’ve got that foot in the door and I have a stronghold and a strong foundation to build upon, I’m not looking back.”

TyBenji has been a budding artist for as long as he can remember. From the time growing up in Dallas as young Tyrik, he was always attracted to music and by age 10 was already writing his own raps and freestyling with older boys in his neighborhood. By the time he was in high school, he was actively pursuing music as a career and had already adopted the stage name TyBenji as a combination of his first name and the slang term “Benji,” which is a moniker for money. He says his early work was representative of some of his biggest musical influences including Lil Wayne, Easy E, Snoop Dogg, James Brown and Chris Brown, among others. But over the years, he has developed a sound and style that is all his own and which he knows will stand out in ways that will eventually make him a household name all over the U.S.

“My sound is different,” he said. “I just sound like me. I think it’s a sound that shows off my personality and my vibe. I have an eccentric, weird, crazy vibe. My mixtape ‘Drip’ really shows off that eccentricity and craziness. It’s a project that shows people the adversity I’ve faced in life and how I’ve had to climb from the bottom. It shares those things through music that some people would call weird or crazy. But it’s straight rap that comes from me and is perfect to show people who I am as a musician.”

In addition to “Drip,” TyBenji said he’s working on another mixtape that he hopes to drop sometime in the next six months. He’s also planning to release a music video for “It Takes Time” and is excited to see how many regions across the U.S it can make a splash.

DiVinci SanTana – OK

Music, Videos

14-year-old entertainer DiVinci SanTana drops new single ‘OK’

LOS ANGELES, CA – One of the hottest young entertainers in the business today is a teenager named DiVinci SanTana. Soon to be 14, he has already made a name for himself in Hollywood, and he’s preparing to take the next step in his career by launching new music that’s set to drop before the end of the year.

Born in Los Angeles, DiVinci started in theater at merely 7 years old. He did numerous plays and eventually auditioned for America’s Got Talent. Opportunities continued to present themselves, and he was able to land acting roles on “Judge Hatchett” and Jeneen Robinson’s “I’m 13 Yo!” In the midst of those acting jobs, he began to realize that though he loved acting, his first true love was music. So in 2018 when he was introduced to the CEO of BTMR Entertainment Group, he knew he wanted to pursue music in a major way.

In the year-and-a-half since that meeting, DiVinci has worked closely with super producer Malcolm Harvest (AKA Mal G) on an album that is tentatively slated to drop in May of 2020. The first single from that project is already complete and is slated to drop on Dec. 20. It’s called “OK” and it features DiVinci’s unique sound and style in ways that will make people sit up and pay attention.

“It’s crazy how that song came together,” he said. “We were in the studio for so many hours and it was like 4 a.m. and it just kind of came together out of nowhere. The vibe is something different and new – not like anything else out there right now. We knew what we wanted to do and we accomplished that … and that feeling is very satisfying. Basically, it’s a song that says I was always OK and money will never change me. It’s a very upbeat, radio-ready song that I’m anxious for people to check out.”

DiVinci said one of the things that sets him apart from others in the music industry today is that his music is all clean. He’s also able to incorporate sounds and styles from multiple different genres. He said his influences come from people like Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Jimmy Hendrix and XXXTentacion.

“I just want to make music for everyone,” he said. “Whether you’re sitting in the car with your mom, or your grandma, or your auntie, or whomever – they all can listen to it with you. I’m just trying to make music for everyone.”

DiVinci said while he’s working toward completing the album that will drop in 2020, he’s also continuing to act and will take the lead as Josh in the Emmy-nominated Christina Cooper feature film “South Central Love.” He’s also working on a music video for “OK” which he said he hopes to drop in early 2020.

FH (Fortified Hustlas) – Swerve Talk

Industry Spotlight, Music, Videos

Hip Hop duo out of Michigan brings genre
back to its roots with new single ‘Swerve Talk’

LANSING, MI – Hip Hop is music that comes from the streets. It’s a genre that was born as a
voice for the people – a reflection of the gritty reality that times are not always easy, good
people don’t always get ahead, and opportunity and justice are just pretty words spouted by
the privileged few who have never known life without them.

Two relatives out of Lansing, Michigan want to bring Hip Hop back to those foundations and
their unique style of music is gaining attention throughout the Upper Midwest. Mo Betta and D
Eagle don’t play the fake game. From the moment they started rapping together as children,
they’ve made a pact to serve their listeners a more authentic brand of Hip Hop. Holding their
art to a higher standard, these two talented wordsmiths are bringing a refreshing realism to the
game – a genuineness born from their collective hardship.

“We’ve been fucked with and we’ve served time,” D Eagle said. “We’ve seen the world for what
it is, put that into words and strapped a fat beat on it. All we ask now is that you listen.”
Operating under the name Fortified Hustlas (FH), this rap duo has dropped a new single that is
turning heads both for its originality and its nod to old-school Hip Hop. “Swerve Talk” is a song
that uses the rich life as a metaphor for the struggles of the streets – with powerful imagery

serving as a testament for the hard things people have to do to survive. Paired with an upbeat
tempo, the hard-hitting lyrics are exactly the kind of Hip Hop rap that the genre was created
for. And though it’s not exactly a club-driving tune, it does have a beat and vibe that would fit
right in with those who love having a good time at the club.

The song features well-known Michigan artist El’Zappo, who brings his unique flow and witty
lyricism to the single in ways that the duo says perfectly rounds out the message they were
trying to get across.

“We touch almost all areas with our music,” Mo Betta said. “We’re lyrical but at the same time
we mix in our music with new sounds of today. Plus, there aren’t too many duos out there
today. In the last 10 to15 years, there haven’t been a lot of duos that you’re actually familiar
with. We’re blood cousins who have been rapping together for about 10 years, and we’ve
developed something that is very professional and sounds like nothing else out there today.”
D Eagle said he and his cousin have been inspired by some of the legends of Hip Hop over the
years – from Wutang to Jadakiss, Jay-Z and Fabulous. Some current artists also serve as
inspirations including J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby and Quando Rondo. Like those big name
artists, they want FH to become a known household name not just for bringing good vibes but
for having a unique voice in the world of Hip Hop.

“Our music is about realism,” he said. “We’re teaching people something. We’re not just
rapping but are trying to teach and send out a message through the stuff we say.”

In addition to “Swerve Talk,” FH just finished a new song in the studio and is working toward its
release before the end of 2019. The duo is also working on developing music videos for their
new singles and plans to drop an EP sometime in 2020.

REME – Move

Industry Spotlight, Music, Promo

Houston rapper REME turning up the heat with new single, “Boom”

HOUSTON, TX – No matter what you do in life, there will always be folks who don’t take you seriously. REME is dishing up a soundtrack for everyone who’s not getting the respect they deserve with his new single, “Boom.” Tired of people not believing in what he is doing, and how he’s doing it, REME sought to take the heat to another level with this heavy hitting track. With its very aggressive and speedy style, “Boom” is meant to make a statement about how serious REME is about his craft.

While his previous single “Move” was more of a dark remnant, the new single has an uptown, space-the-chase vibe. REME’s lyricism is characterized by a rapid delivery of metaphors and a lot of phrasing. REME brought his aggression into the studio to make his point and to put out a hype song to get the fans going. The new single is slated to drop during the third week of November, and will be his first track published on all major digital platforms.

A serious and committed artist, REME writes from personal experience and what he has seen others go through. He also views what’s happening in society in a different light and puts that perspective into his art. His music speaks to those who have suffered from an unhealthy state of mind. “My music is for anybody who has been in that dark place,” REME stated.

While other rappers are content to rhyme about topics that aren’t positive, REME is conscious about directing his energy towards more fun and uplifting themes. He believes that “money, drugs and jewelry don’t make the artist” and works to have a beneficial impact. “If you’re gonna do all this, you have to give back or show a way where others can make their way. That’s what I plan to do.”

Born and raised in Houston, REME grew up listening to a diverse range of artists, including Outkast, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Biggie Smalls, Gucci Mane, Missy Elliott and Kanye West. He has always been around people involved in music and others trying to get the experience. Being exposed to music for so much of his life lead REME to pursue his own music career.

An immensely popular local performer, REME is currently putting together a new set of local shows in and around the city of Houston. He is always open to explore new places to play. Venues and fans should hit him up at [email protected].

The new single follows on the success of REME’s “DREMELAND” album, which has over 30 thousand streams on SoundCloud. “Boom” launches a new project which is in the works, and another single is set to follow. Before that, look out for a snippet from the new music video for “Boom,” dropping everywhere on social media before the single’s release.

BlakBoi Ya$i – Y3$

Industry Spotlight, Music, Promo

New music from South African artist BlakBoi Ya$i speaks of life challenges and triumphs

PIETERMARITZBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – Growing up in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, Siyabonga Nkosi (known by his professional name, BlakBoi Ya$i) didn’t have the opportunity to focus on his love of music. It wasn’t until 2012 when he burst onto the scene as a rapper and producer, that the artist began creating a steady stream of music. Making up for lost time, BlakBoi dropped his “Ya$i-Ver$3” album earlier this year, and he’s already putting the finishing touches on a new album.

Bringing out back-to-back albums is no problem for this prolific artist. “I really feel like I have music for a long time,” BlakBoi said, “and I can’t see myself stopping any time soon!” His sound is a crazy infusion of Hip-Hop with melodic 808 sounds, blended with alternative dance, pop music and a bit of R&B.

Delivered with a smooth flow, BlakBoi’s lyrics tell of teen and young adult struggles, along with celebrations. On the “Ya$i-Ver$3” album, his soulful vocals shine through, particularly in standout tracks like “Vv$,” with its catchy and rhythmic beat and balanced combo of clean vocals with vocals layered with multiple effects. Rapping and singing, along with complex instrumentation, captivates the listener on another notable song called “Ru$h.”

The new music on the upcoming album, “Hippie” represents an evolution from who he was and he has taken his craft to a whole new level. “It’s definitely more intimate me. Giving my story out but in a fun way that people can relate to, instead of it being super depressing,” he shared. For a slightly more Rock and Roll vibe, BlakBoi used strings on the song “It’s a Trip” which tells the story of how everything in his life has been like a trip. A skilled narrator, he also tells the story of a criminal villain type girl who uses people to get what she needs in the alt-pop track, “Harley Quinn.”

Growing up, BlakBoi listened to a mix of worldwide chart topping music that brought people together. His father got him into Jazz and he grooved to the local sounds of Kwaito (Hip Hop in the native vernacular), Rock and Roll, R&B and Hip Hop. With his eclectic music tastes and sound engineering skills, BlakBoi is creating a sound with international appeal. Listeners at home tend to wait until local music is hyped up before they recognize it. BlackBoi said “I’m doing an alternative version of Hip Hop mixed with Pop and Rock and Roll which is different. A lot of people really don’t understand that here.” With avid listeners in Japan, Europe and the States, Blakboi’s appeal is indisputable.

Besides making music, BlakBoi has been forming liaisons and getting people to work together for the past two years. He has the drive and power to influence others and get the work done in his deeply divided city, which he believes is starting to come together. He also formed the Swag Note Music Group (SNMG) along with a friend. This collective of fifteen photographers, graphic designers, rappers, poets, singers, producers come together to work on their individual brands and support one another.

During his career, the artist has gone through a few name changes including “Clue” and “Even Steven.” Since 2017, he has worked on multiple projects to perfect the sound for the BlakBoi Ya$i persona. BlakBoi plans to release the new album, “Hippie” by the end of this year or in early January, and he has a vision for music videos planned for the project. This dedicated artist is truly poised for music stardom on the world stage.

Yung HD – Faces

Blog, Industry Spotlight, Music

Yung HD follows success of first album
with killer follow-up ‘Bars From Mars Too’

ATLANTA, GA – Jeffrey Childress was almost literally born into music. Some of his very first memories are of times spent in his father’s recording studio. Joe Da Boss had his own record label and would often bring his son to the studio with him. At age 9, Childress was able to lay some snares down on a beat for one of his father’s artists, and he even got a production credit for it. Over the years, he ate, slept and breathed music, and a nickname quickly emerged for him throughout the neighborhood: Yung Hood.

As he grew older and developed his own unique sound and style, that name evolved into Yung HD – a name that not only nods to his past and the extensive training he’s had in the music industry but also draws attention to the clarity and excellence of his voice. It’s like high definition.

Today, Yung HD is riding a wave of success off recent releases, and he’s set to take his brand to the next level with his new album “Bars From Mars Too.” It’s a continuation of his first album “Bars From Mars” with songs and vibes that take his sound to the next level. Since dropping the album on May 3, he has already seen more than 200,000 streams. It’s worth mentioning that before releasing “Bars From Mars Too” Yung HD signed to White Velvet Records.

“It’s a project that’s all about my life and the things I was going through at the time I created the first album and how I’ve overcome all of that,” Yung HD said. “It’s a little bit of everything – upbeat tracks and laid-back tracks and just this new wave I’m on. I use auto-tune to make it sound good and you can understand everything I’m saying. I got a message behind what I’m saying. I’m not talking about drugs and money and stuff like that, but the struggles of being an independent artist and making everything work together. If you keep pushing, you’ll have something to show for it.”

Though this is only his second official album, Yung HD has been making music professionally for years. He released his first project “Smoke Music” in his late teens and since then has opened for people like Rick Ross, Curen$y, Rittz, Tuki Carter, Raz Simone, Twisted Insane, Three 6 Mafia, Whitney Peyton, Trinidad James and many more. He has also started his own label, Twist Up Entertainment LLC and co-founded it with Joshua A1 Owens. Under this independent label, Yung HD said he has brought together an elite team of artists, producers, directors, designers, managers and entrepreneurs – each member being a leader and offering something unique and beneficial to the team.

One such collaboration includes Ronnie Reed, who is featured on the song “Wasting Time,” which is the debut single from Yung HD’s new album. Described as a “laid-back track for the females,” the single is about picking up a girl late at night and having a good time. Yung HD said he and Ronnie Reed connected through a music video project some years back and immediately clicked through similar interests in music. In addition to their work together on “Wasting Time,” they’ve also collaborated on two other songs – one on Yung HD’s previous album and one on Ronnie Reed’s album.

JoeCash – Big Money

ME Blog, Music, Promo

JoeCash is set to drop 11th album ‘Art Money’ on Oct. 4

ALBANY, NY – When you listen to JoeCash’s music, it’s impossible not to feel the raw emotion dripping off his bars. People connect with his music. They feel his struggles and his happiness. They join him on his journey through pain and power. They see the stuff he’s been through or the people he’s interacted with. They feel his stress, his relationship problems, and his good times. And what they feel through his music reflects similar emotions from their own lives in ways that make them keep coming back for more.

It’s this connection with audiences all over the world that has helped JoeCash to have such a long career in music. Since age 12, he’s been writing raps and laying down bars with high success. And on Oct. 4, he’s set to continue that wave of success with the release of his 11th album, “Art Money.”

The eight-track album features themes that explore what it takes to be successful in life and “get that money.” JoeCash said he wanted to explore the joy of buying expensive stuff as a reward to hard work paying off. Since releasing his first album in 2001, he has had multiple tours and shows and has worked hard to achieve the success that he enjoys today. “Art Money” is a celebration of that success, told across a diverse range of vibes that is equal parts laid-back and hard-hitting street lyrics.

“I’m unique, I’m genuine, there’s no fraudulent with me,” JoeCash said. “I stand out from the crowd. I have passion. When they hear that off-the-hill- Joe sound, they’ll know immediately that it’s me. I’ve always been trying to get up and come up, always been on the paper chase. People started calling me JoeCash because of that since I was young, and so I used it as a rap name.”

He said he’s worked hard to develop a truly original sound, and has studied some of the greats over the years to see what they’ve done to attain success. He points to artists like the Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Biggie and Tupac as some of his favorites. He also lived in Hinesvile, Georgia for a time and said he learned a lot from artists such as Pastor Troy and Jeezy.

Today, with “Art Money,” he hopes to bring together all of the things he’s learned from those legends alongside all of the things he’s learned from the past 18 years of making music into one great project that will catapult across the country. It’s a gritty tale of survival in the urban communities that he said is sure to satisfy a wide audience.

Chevy Quis – Shotgun

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Promo

Ride shotgun with passionate emcee Chevy Quis and his new single “Shotgun”

LOS ANGELES, CA – Chevy Quis, in conjunction with Ivree Productions, will hold a rooftop Release Party to launch Chevy’s new single, “Shotgun” atop the Ivree Production building in Hollywood on July 17. “Shotgun” is a west coast style cruising track, described by the artist as a trendy and witty lyric rhyme-scape blended with R&B vocal harmonies and tongue-twisting rap schemes.

The song takes inspiration from Chevy’s two sets of parents, both married for over a decade. His mother and stepmother are women who are fully supportive of their men. Describing his own ideal partner, the song celebrates having that ride or die chick that is just for him. “Riding shotgun by my side” – she is down for him 110% no matter the situation.

Chevy’s music combines a modern day R&B sound with melodic rapping. Showcasing his ability to switch it up, Chevy uses different variations of his rhyming with tempo twists and turns, adding a little sparkle and shine from the R&B side to hip hop beats.

Chevy is one artist of an independent group of artists known as the Famous Gang Entertainment (F.G.E.) Group. They grew up together in Minnesota and worked on several successful projects together. Taking a risk, the twelve artists made the 27 hour drive out to California nearly a year ago. Not all of them are still in California but those who remain are still pushing and making music.

He expresses his creativity by communicating his message in different and unique ways which allow listeners to relate to him as an artist. Chevy is working on the follow up to his 2018 debut album, “Epitome 1” which will feature music written since his arrival in California. He also plans to continue dropping singles and make a music video for “Shotgun.”

The book, “The Law of Attraction” changed Chevy’s way of thinking about how to take control of his life, how he could attract what he wanted, and to live life according to his calling. Chevy wants to encourage others to keep pushing. “Be the creator of the world that you live in. Go hard for what you wanna get in life, and go hard for what you want. Don’t ever let nobody tell you no. If somebody tells you “no”, convince them otherwise.”
