Prison Entrepreneur Creates & Launches: BGE Magazine

Ads

From behind the wall of a New York correctional facility incarcerated prison entrepreneur Chad L Richards self publishes his first periodical, BGE Magazine. BGE stands for Born Greedy Entertainment which he founded back in 2001 at Franklin Correctional Facility while serving time with Max B, Hell Rell & Syhem The Rugged Child.

After years of grinding behind the wall from selling candy to self-publishing his first book ‘Bars Behind the Bars Vol 1’ to starting his own sneaker catalog, Rich Vision clothing line & website. He now brings you BGE Magazine which foxes on entrepreneurs whose companies are based around the entertainment industry.

The uniqueness of his publication is that it also focuses on how to encourage male and female inmates to become entrepreneur. But already the system has been trying to shut Mr. Richard’s magazine down by now allowing him to receive a copy of his own magazine stating that due to the fact he’s a ward of the state Mr. Richard’s can not own and operate a business (yet he can sweep and mop floors for .10 cents an hour).

But as always Mr. Richards will continue to travel his own path and march to his own beat while still bring you hot & exclusive interviews and great articles.

What’s also interesting is that BGE Magazine allows inmates who are authors to submit their work to possibly be published in a future issue of BGE Magazine. The only requirements of the inmate is to have the talent to write a complete book within 25 pages and submit the book once it’s complete. BGE will then create the cover, and publish the book in the upcoming issue of BGE if selected.

On that note go out, show support and check out the premiere issue of BGE Magazine today!

[Single] D.O.N ‘Slide Wit It’ | @DoinOnlyNumbas

Music

Donald Denard Jackson Jr. AKA D.O.N was born January 19th; to his parents of Renae Cook and Donald Jackson Sr. in Gainesville, FL. D.O.N has two half siblings from his mother and is the only child on his father’s side. Both his parents are still alive and residing in Gainesville.

[Single] D.O.N 'Slide Wit It' | @DoinOnlyNumbas

D.O.N was raised by his Grandparents, Clarence and Lilly Cook, on 5th Avenue in the Seminary Lane housing projects. Growing up D.O.N’s grandparents were known in the neighborhood has the local ‘bootleggers’. Showing D.O.N from a very early age how to hustle and earn a dollar. Selling loose cigarettes and sodas on his front porch before jumping off and heading to the streets themselves. Followed by numerous fights, stints in jail, and even shootouts, D.O.N continues to find his way to the ‘top of the pile’ and never stops hustling. Overcoming many obstacles and hardships in life to achieve his goals and dreams.

D.O.N. is not only a father of three (3) daughters but a husband as well. He and his wife, Laverne Jackson, were married on April 16th, 2011. D.O.N.’s daughter Trinity Jackson also has a joy and passion for music like her father. They are often in the studio together and you can find her name in many of D.O.N.’s writer’s and producer’s credits.

His stage name, D.O.N. is not only a play on his own name but is an acrostic for ‘Doin Only Numbas’ which is a movement/mind. Symbolizing getting money, whatever you’re doing, your “doin only numbas” to get money.

Influenced by legendary artists like Scarface, Tupac, Biggie, N.W.A., Eightball/MJG, T.I., Master P, Cash Money, Pastor Troy, Nipsey Hussle, & James Prince. It’s the influence and inspiration from legends like these that D.O.N. felt the pull to hit the studio and show the newer generation what they’d been missing.

D.O.N. started his label, Street Kartel Music, in 2012. D.O.N first mixtape, I Stand Alone, dropped in 2013. Realizing he needed more knowledge, experience, and strategy for the next project D.O.N took a step back to ‘see the bigger picture’ so to speak and set out to find all the info he needed to make his passion a career. Attending conferences, panels and other various networking events soaking up all the knowledge offered and available from those in attendance. Coming back stronger than ever with his current single ‘Slide Wit It’, which you can find on ALL streaming platforms.

D.O.N. is a very approachable person and loves to interact with his fans. So, don’t hesitate and follow his movement today!!

[Video] @ITSYABOYJC ‘Way Too Much (Remix) ft. Eric Bellinger

Videos

JC is a up-and-coming artist coming out of Atlanta. The new artist takes a trip to the West Coast to find his big break and discovers it with award-winning singer/songwriter Eric Bellinger on the new single, “Way Too Much”.

In the Stacking Memories-directed, JC and Easy find inspiration at the beach on a hot Summer day. The two play it cool beside the waves as ladies flock to them and their smooth mid-tempo hit. JC is an undeniable charmer that will be a hit on the airwaves in no time.

For Justin Crowder, the goal is to make music that people will remember and relate to; invoking an unforgettable feeling. For his more popularly known moniker, JC, it’s about creating real music with a touch of swagg; charisma in the form of a sound recording! Referring to his writing style, he states, “Everything I write is catchy with strong metaphors, fresh concepts, and captivating melodies that stick.” JC is pleasant, humble, quite witty and even a little shy at times. He lacks arrogance, yet embodies character built confidence. But one thing stands above all these traits…JC is a STAR!

This baby-faced, multi-platinum singer/songwriter has many colorful tales surrounding his entry into the business….common, yet, vividly unusual stories of death threats, being cheated, being broke, and politics that cut his progress short. He has many, “And then…what happen was…” moments, things that should have made him throw in the towel but JC hung on. The Nashville, TN native and Atlanta, GA resident understands that it’s all a part of the process. He was even forced involuntarily to go under the knife for vocal surgery five times! Doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center told JC they’d try to recover his “speaking voice” but singing again “probably just wouldn’t happen.” God obviously had another plan in mind because JC’s been crooning just fine. When JC presented a CD of recorded songs to his doctors, they were brought to tears!

JC’s career really began to kick off after the independent release of his first album All of Me, which was a major global success. He would later gut out a passenger van and fill it with his belongings, as he began the short yet seemingly uncertain trek from Nashville to Atlanta. Being shuffled in and out of meetings when he arrived and literally leaving the city’s music industry coveting and speechless at his natural abilities from live shows, writing, and the indie release of “Nobody Gotta Know,” JC was always content with being an “independent” singer/songwriter until “the right deal” presented itself. As a driven entrepreneur, JC plans to continue showcasing his music and catapult his career even further with his company No.2 Pencil Muzik, LLC which concentrates on songwriting, producer management, vocal production, and artist development aspects of the industry.

JC has further made his mark in the music industry as a songwriter and vocal producer, developing several artists & producers. And he’s created a demand for himself from a surplus of major music companies by being such a successful global artist independently. He frequently collaborates with Grammy award-winning, platinum-selling producers Keyzbaby, Cheeze Beatz, and Dirty Rice along with up and coming producers Bridgez, Tad Beatz, and Tony Rozay.

JC has managed to work with some of music’s heaviest hitters: Diddy, Future, T.I., Rick Ross, Wyclef, Bangladesh, Zaytoveen, and Brian Michael Cox (to name a few) and sharing the stage with Chris Brown, Migos, Usher, Lil Wayne, and many more; performing at everything from school pep rallies to radio station/community events to major concerts, including Atlanta’s largest show: Birthday Bash. In November 2011, JC signed an agreement with Star Base/P-Vine Records in Japan to release a series of musical compositions abroad.

He showcased his giftedness with the release of his album ENCORE, which peaked at No.3 on the Japanese R&B album charts and astoundingly features 8 songs that charted on the Top 100 R&B Songs chart, the most popular being Hwy 2 Luv which peaked at No. 5. JC also released an album entitled EARCANDY in 2011 and a digital EP entitled ENCORE in 2012, which were both very successful and escorted by international tours. In March of 2013, JC released a classic joint album with KeChelle entitled FOREVER. It was yet another successful global indie release; it peaked at No.5 on the Japanese R&B charts and reached thousands of sales in the U.S. & abroad. He also released several singles in Germany that all charted on their Top 10 Urban Charts: Say U Scared (w/ Tyro), Cheers To Us (w/ DJ T.O), Attention (w/ DJ Santo-T), and Hands On You (w/ DJ Belay). All of these projects were released independently and were successful with practically no major promotion or budget.

He plans to capitalize on his new partnerships with Elation Entertainment, Heard Well, Onepeace Inc. (Japan), Bonaphied Ent., and major distributors by independently touring and releasing new music internationally throughout 2019. However, JC has recently released a couple of new indie singles, Bounce, Shamone, and Way Too Much that have been very well-received! *His upcoming singles Way Too Much (feat. Eric Bellinger) and No Filter (feat. Jacquees) are in high demand after posting teasers online!

What separates the singer/songwriter from the droves of R&B hopefuls is he didn’t have to choose this path. Though he has been belting gospel classics professionally since he was 9, JC graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, followed by a Master’s in Education with a highly impressive 4.0 GPA and was teaching high school as Mr. Crowder by day and exploiting his creative talents as JC by night. JC utters, “A plan B is great but music is my heart.”

“You just don’t understand what I’ve been through,” he says tiredly. “But I’ve never possessed the energy to give up doing what I love, despite being called a fool. I’m at a place in my career where my fulfillment comes from knowing I’m doing this Independently and still being successful both musically and financially, having fun, seeing the world, and making good music.”

Where sex and scandal ravage through the airwaves, JC offers sensuality and feeling, and at times his music can merely be described as just “cool.” His music is littered with hidden meanings and innuendos, but it’s always backed with chart topping production and the components that hit songs are made of. His boyish good looks don’t make it hard for his fans to fall in love on sight, but it’s his ability to regurgitate his soul on wax that will cement his position and make him truly UNFORGETTABLE.
