Introducing Brooklyn native DJ, Vybz Empress

Industry Spotlight

“Soul of profound, infectious dancing and a feel-good vibe”

That’s how Vybz Empress describes herself as a DJ. Born Janel Monah, having grown up in Brooklyn, NY on her father’s combination of classic Reggae, Lovers Rock, Soca; all which became infused with her own love for both Hip-Hop and R&B, Vybz Empress ended up with quite an array of musical influence.

Her Guyanese background has given Vybz Empress a different perspective/swag and it is expressed through her mixes/music. Traditional is not the word to describe Vybz Empress’ style when it comes to djing. Not only can she rock any crowd with her vybz , she also creates original music & CLASSIC REMIXES in the studio. Her latest single “Grind” featuring afrobeat sensation Jaywillz, is heating up in the streets of Nigeria.

While a classic Vybz Empress remix consists of two or more selected tracks fused together, some dj sound effects with some original rap vocals from the queen herself, Vybz Empress.
Today, this translates into sets where she picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that she loves best.
A very active member of her local community, Vybz Empress is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of the music scene.

Though she loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, her love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer and promoter, she has found plenty of ways to express herself musically. Not only has she moved crowds locally but internationally as well. From Canada to Jamaica to Nigeria, Vybz Empress has left her presence on a great deal of individuals, thus calling herself “The International Vybz Empress”.

“Do Em Wrong” Official Music Video
Kaboom Holy ft. Julio Foolio & Money Man Loot

For “Do Em Wrong”, Party Pack representer Kaboom Holy elicits the help of collaborators Julio Foolio and Money Man Loot. The song itself is aggressive and might make you want to put your guard up! With a grungy, homegrown visual to match – this offering is not about the theatrics as much as it’s made to get a point across. “Do Em Wrong” definitely makes a statement – one that says these three are not the ones to play with.
Scattered graphics flit across the screen, and the camera captures unique, unexpected angles contributing to a feeling of controlled chaos brought out by Kaboom and friends. For fans of the
floss, the ice does not disappoint – each rapper donning shimmering adornments and coordinating trademark grills as he spits his piece.

As the visual opens up, Julio Foolio makes quick work of his lead position in the song’s lineup. He jumps right in with two feet, setting the tone with back-and-forth rhymes that lay the groundwork for a potent listening experience. Foolio delivers confrontational stanzas with flows that have the bounce to tie up his lyrics in a bow.

Kaboom’s trademark voice, likely recognizable even from space, enters in behind Foolio urging, “I got that sh*t that gets you upset!” Freeform locs swinging, his spirited emergence brings about even more aggression, more gun bars, more reasons not to get too comfortable in your seat. His plays on words and sheer mastery of his vocal are what both shock and draw one in. The hook
Kaboom offers hits hard and not only burrows like a vicious earworm; it also ties together his compadres’ verses.

Enter: Money Man Loot – the rapper with the gravelly voice, high-energy and blonde/green silhouette. With a no-manners approach, Loot presents volatile lines that do the term “Grand Finale” justice. It’s also in this scene that viewers are magnetized with double-exposed images of all the money, jewels and fashion one would expect from a team such as this.

All in all, “Do Em Wrong” captures the embodiment of a hood-rich rampage. The video was shot and directed by Charlotte-based company, The A.V.E. Productions, and just released in conjunction with the new single, produced by Loaf Boy Nick. Check out this, and all of Kaboom Holy’s content via his social handles and links.

[Video] Valerie Pascale – I Like The Way That

Videos

“I Like The Way That” is about someone who is in love with their best friend but is afraid to say it. They keep giving them signs or trying to show them that they are meant to be.
The main questions are: There is some passion between us both, but is it something more than a simple attraction? Does the other person have feelings as well or is it all in my head? Should I give it a try or should I not ruin a perfect friendship?

Are they catching feelings too or are they simply being kind?

So many questions can remain unanswered between two people… Should we give it a try?

This song is about being somehow stuck in the scary so-called “friendzone”. It isn’t healthy for either side to remain friends with someone only in hope that they’ll take us as their partner one day. We can’t force love, it finds us.

@callmesqualla – Nasty (Single)

Music
LISTEN HERE Houston raised/Los Angeles based artist, Squalla, is back with his first single of the year titled “Nasty” just in time for Valentines Day. “Play this with your Valentine after a romantic night out. I wanted to set the tone for my first release of the new year with something provocative and bold. Right in time for Valentine’s Day, “Nasty” is a vibe whether you’re headed out to get the night started or back at home when it’s all done. The straight forward lyrics and the monotone voice immediately sets the tone for a dark midnight mood. A different direction from what people can normally expect from Squalla. This one is for the grown and sexy.”-Squalla Follow Squalla: Instagram.com/callmesqualla @callmesqualla Twitter.com/callmesqualla @callmesqualla Facebook.com/callmesqualla

#NewMusicAlert @JRealityG ft Big Hustle “Big Dawg”

Videos

Jarvis Jeremy Gibbons, better known by his stage name JRealityG is an American rapper & songwriter

Born & raised in a small city with only 3 traffic lights & not very much entertaining to do besides playing sports, wildlife gaming & atv riding. JrealityG took a liking to hip hop at the very young age of 5 years old. Mimicking artists like LL Cool J, Bones Thugs n Harmony, the late great Tupac Shakur & also another legend The Notorious B.I.G. who he was introduced to through cassette tapes by his older teen cousins. Over the years that mimicking would actually turn into a second nature hobby. But instead of mimicking other artists, JrealityG had actually crafted his own style of rhyming & critiquing his wordplay in the form of writing & freestyling.

As a teen, JRealityG enjoyed listening to Field Mob Kanye West & Andre 3000 of Outkast. but I could honestly say Shawn Jay of field actually was the 1st artist that made me challenge myself as a writer. His delivery, play on words & wittiness made me aware that it was different levels to being a rapper/songwriter. Not solely based on the number of album sales made, but more so in the art itself. Cyhi the Prynce & J Cole are by far two of J Reality G’s favorite MC’s as of today. Due to the fact that they haven’t shied away from actually being craftsmen in this art Despite the trends that come & go they stay relevant & still prove to have two of the best pens in the industry.

JRealityG is a simple form of an artist with legendary lyrical talents. Cultivated by the southern roots his grandfather instilled in him, he has harnessed the ability to engulf his listeners through a thoroughly considerate approach to conscious lyrical content.

Influenced by some of the greats such as Jay Z, J. Cole, Rick Ross, Cyhi, and Shawn Jay, JRealityG will always be authentically grounded. The realism in his voice will take you on an expedition of culture, laughter, and a renewed desire for musical expressions.

His ability to craft a unique musical presence is pleasantly revealed in his upcoming release “No Congratulations”

Get to know Spice 1’s artist from Temple, Texas ‘Real Smokesta’

Interviews

Artist name?
Real Smokesta

What genre of music do you create?
I do it all. Hip Hop, Pop, R&B you name it. There’s nothing I can’t pull off. My mother didn’t allow me to listen to Rap until I was a Sophomore in High School. So I grew up listening to a lot of Gospel and Alternative music.

What city and state are you from?
I’m from Temple, Texas but we call it Trouble Town. A beautiful city but you can get into trouble easy.

Email address to send blog links?
Definitely My Label [email protected]

When did you realize you wanted to be an artist? Tell us your story?
The moment I realized Hip Hop was therapy for me. It saved my life. I mean really saved my life. In and out prison and not taking my life serious. There’s nothing else that would’ve taken me out of those streets. Not my Mama, Friends or Religion but Hip Hop opened up a different perspective on life to me. I have a unique story. In 2020 I got signed to Spice 1 from all these unique stories. Hip Hop is a way of life for me.

What project are currently pushing?
I have two new albums out I just released. Unfortunately I don’t see myself performing this year. More like next year.

What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I don’t think people really understand the stress artists go through. We’re human beings too. The mistakes. High expectations. Failure. People hoping you don’t succeed. Industry people scamming and all those things. I took a lot of loses before I ever started winning. To be the underdog and still win is Real Smokesta.

What makes you different from other artists?
Being authentic. When I create I don’t force myself to be different. I don’t care about what people think. I’m different naturally without thinking about it. The subjects I speak on aren’t popular but I’m cool with that because I don’t make music to please people. I make music that I’m pleased with to share with people.

What advice would you give other artists that are just starting?
Nothing is going to come running to you no matter how talented you feel you are. You have to put in the work to make it work. The work never stops.

What does the word success mean to you?
Success to me is doing what I love and seeing results from hard work. To come from a dark place as I did and still pursue my goals is success to me. To inspire people makes me happy.

What’s next for you?
I’m working on something special right now is all I can say.
