Bre Lee – IDFWY

ME Blog, Music, Promo

Deep South rapper cuts to the core
with new EP ‘Guilty By Association 2’

PENSACOLA, FL – Bre Lee grew up on the east side of Pensacola, Florida – a part of town that she said is filled with nothing but bad kids and bad influences. It’s what she came from, and that wrong crowd influenced her in ways she isn’t always proud of. But now, her whole life is switched around and she can thank music for it.

For the past three years, Bre Lee has been creating music that cuts to the core and makes people take a second look at their pre-conceived notions. Her first mixtape, “Guilty By Association,” gained her major attention throughout the South as it explored real-life situations and everyday struggles. The project took an unabashed look at the good and bad of her life – from her arrest to her brother being shot, and how her love of music brought her through such difficult times. And following the success of that project, she’s set to drop a follow-up mixtape this April with “Guilty By Association 2.”

“This one, I switched up the flow in ways that I think will grab more attention,” she said. “It’s music for all crowds and it shows off how I can rap and sing, and I don’t use auto-tune. I don’t sound like other artists coming out of Atlanta, and I can switch it up whenever. I’m very versatile.”

When listening to her music, most people will notice right off the bat her deep southern drawl. When listening closer, fans will discover an incredible lyrical flow with a witty wordplay that is simultaneously catchy and convicting. The single, “IDFWY”, is a perfect example of this. This debut single from the upcoming mixtape is an up-tempo song that Bre said is guaranteed to grab people’s attention.

“It’s about not hanging with the crowd you used to hang with because they’re not on the same page you’re on anymore,” she said. “It’s about making that hard choice to walk away – whether it’s because they’re not supporting you or they hate you because you’re not where they want you to be. It’s a great song to show what I want my music to be about. I want to let people know that whatever they’re going through in life, they should not give up. Keep going. There’s always someone going through something worse and no matter what you’re going through, you can always make a way out of it.”

In addition to music, Bre Lee is pursuing other entertainment business avenues including a clothing line called GMP which stands for Get Money Pro.

“You’re a hustler, no matter what you do,” Bre said. “GMP is about doing whatever you need to do to get some money by any means, regardless.”

Bre said she’s excited for people to become part of the GMP brand and to enjoy more of the music she’s preparing to release throughout the year.

24kay – BLUNTZ (prod. By DEMAR)

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

New EP from 24Kay combines grit of streets with smooth flow from one of hip-hop’s hottest new artists

CHARLESTON, SC – Kendrick Fludd – better known by his stage name 24Kay – is an artist best described as a smooth street dude. His impact on the music industry is unique and creative because he’s one of those public figures who play under the radar. But hip-hop’s best kept secret won’t be flying under the radar much longer once his new EP comes out.

“Kickin’ New Flava” is a five-song project that 24Kay describes as “fresh and new.” Collaborating with long-time friend and music producer Demar, 24Kay has created a collection of songs that are sure to make people hit “repeat” over and over. They’re songs people can party to and vibe to and ultimately come with a sound that 24Kay said “nobody has ever heard before.”

“I know the ins and outs of the streets – what to do and not do, or who to talk to or not talk to,” 24Kay said. “But I’m also quiet and nonchalant. That’s why I think of myself as a smooth street dude. I can express myself in a brutally honest way, but also in a joking way. And I make music that people can party to and that can influence them in a positive way. I’ll never be negative. I’m always having fun with it. I’ve been through a lot and cleaned myself up and I think a lot of what people can learn from me through my music.”

24Kay’s journey toward professional music started at age 9 when he would listen to his step-uncle, a professional musician from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The more he listened to his step-uncle’s music, the more he felt drawn to music. He knew it was something he wanted to do and by sixth grade, he was writing his own rhymes. But coming up, he didn’t have much support and help with his music career. He found a way out of Lithonia, Georgia, where he grew up and where the majority of his life struggles originated. Once he got out of that area, things started to pick up. Eventually, he reconnected with his childhood friend, Demar, and they literally created their first song together on the first day they reunited.

Since that time, they’ve worked hard on more music and 24Kay said he’s proud of this new EP. The first single from the project, “Bluntz,” is already getting some major recognition from fans and is trending on Spotify. True to its name, the song is “something you smoke to,” 24Kay said.

“The hook is really catchy and the beat is amazing,” he said. “It’s diverse and a lot of people like it. But at the end of the day, it’s definitely a song you can smoke to and party to and vibe to. It’s a good song all around.”

B Karma – Designer

ME Blog, Music, Promo

Marine turned rapper lights up industry
with unique new sound and style

HONOLULU, HI – What you give is what you get. It’s Karma, and it’s what Beau Browning centers his life around. So it should come as no surprise that the music coming from this one-of-a-kind artist who calls himself B Karma is all about the life philosophy that he embraces.

Operating out of Honolulu, Hawaii, this full-time Marine is a rapper who brings a unique sound and style to today’s music scene. His new EP, “Call Me Karma,” puts that originality on full display.

The five-song project shows off a range of skills and lyrical prowess, starting with the wild song “Ken$o,” which stands for protecting and denouncing a hunter who kills animals for their attributes. B Karma as a Tarzan stands for their rights, rapping with the desire to aware of this cruelty still present and hoping for a better future in the protection of wildlife.

B Karma worked with Kevin Hues, a producer from Chicago, on the project, as well as his wife, Maeva Browning, who is a product designer from France. She co-wrote the lyrics to “Ken$o,” hand-in-hand with Beau like they do with their upcoming fashion brand « Maé ». Like “Ken$o,” they are willing to provide a flow of good karma. Maeva created jobs for Moroccan artisans by employing them to handcraft the products she designs. Indeed, the young designer of 21 years is really attached to Morocco. She lived a part of her childhood in that country and wanted to raise the standard of living for the inhabitants.

“This EP is all about me becoming a musician,” B Karma said. “It’s announcing the start of my career as a rap artist.”

The other songs on his EP include “Sippin,” “Designer,” “Jump In” and “Jackie Chan.” ‘Sippin,’ is a turn up song that everyone can vibe to, he said. Then there’s “Designer,” which has been the most popular track so far with a stand-out vocal and making it one of B Karmas biggest hits. He had multiple dance freestyle submissions to the song from various parts of the world. The song talks about his wife and her job of being a designer and all the different aspects of creation that the word designing means. “Jump In” is a party type song that puts the listener in a good mood, and “Jackie Chan” is an upbeat song with a repetitive hook that will get stuck in the listener’s head.

B Karma’s music is already getting the kind of attention that most artists only dream about. To date he has more than 70 million plays on his Soundcloud account, and his mixtape on Datpiff was named the Best Mixtape of the month. He’s been featured in multiple music publications, and he’s recently become Google and Spotify verified – breaking 50,000 streams within his first week of release on Spotify.

He said he hopes people will hear his music and not only enjoy the sound, but be challenged to live a lifestyle that encourages them to send out good vibes to the world. With the idea of Karma as a backbone to all that he does, he said he hopes his music will drive the kind of goodwill that will help make the world a little better.

“There’s no Marine out there technically doing what I’m doing,” he said. “I’m doing what I believe in and what’s right, like a do by serving my country and protecting it. Karma comes back at you hard – you give what you get. You have to give people what you want to get back in life, and you can’t take anything for granted. That’s my message, and it comes through a different sounding voice that’s more unique than the average rapper you hear on the radio. You could call it chill, but also energetic. It stands out among the crowd. It’s high-quality, and it definitely comes down as the voice of an artist.”

Karma is already working on a new single which will come out really soon. The artist didn’t wanted to talk much about it and keep secret this new trac « It’s going to be a new turn on my career » « I’m putting the level hire and have a new evolution in my work ». The only thing that we know is that it will be in collaboration with a singer. So be ready for this new banger to come out!!

Ethos – I’m Alright

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Ethos pairs decades of musical expertise with passion for rap to introduce incredible new sound to the world

CLEVELAND, OH – If you look up the word “Ethos” in the dictionary, you’ll find a definition that emphasizes the “character” or “personality” that describes the guiding beliefs or ideals of a community, nation or ideology. For Alex Hlavna, who uses the stage name Ethos, the term is one that encapsulates everything he’s trying to represent as an independent musician. And when you see his name, you know it’s going to be associated with good things.

Ethos is a veteran session musician of the Cleveland, Ohio music scene who after 19 years of playing guitar, bass and drums in various original and cover projects has turned to hip-hop and producing of other artists under his brand Flipside. Ethos’ music combines elements of everything from rap to hip-hop to chill-step and even alternative rock – bringing listeners on an ambient journey of musical storytelling that revolves around the message of what Ethos really is.

“I want the Ethos brand to be more of a go-to destination for good things than anything else,” he said. “I’ve already built a small following on social media based on the content of my opinions and the memes I create and the things I’m saying. If you like who I am and what I post, then you’ll definitely like the music. I’m trying to convey that I’m different and my music is different and you can come here and be part of the Ethos brand and the movement that comes along with it.”

Ethos is an artist who creates what he calls “conscious rap” paired with a unique sound that rarely loses the listener’s attention. This is perhaps best displayed on his new album, “Ten Commandments,” which he plans to drop later this year. The album will be an “agnostic take on the infamous list that applies more to how we live life in 2019,” he said.

Earlier this year, he released two singles – “I’m Alright” and “Learning” – which have created some major momentum for him, gathering more than 6 million plays on his Soundcloud accounts. The songs demonstrate his ability to interweave unusual sounds – some might call them “eerie” – with catchy beats and stellar lyrics. “Learning” is the kind of song that hooks the listener from the beginning and has them bobbing their heads all throughout.

Ethos said he’s been pleasantly surprised at the overwhelming response he’s received from his new music. Rap has always been something he’s loved. As a session musician who specialized in instrumentals he didn’t get to explore that love for rap as much as he would have liked, and now that he’s dedicated his career to those new sounds and styles he’s finding the experience of stretching his muscles as a rapper to be the thrill of his life.

“That background as a session musician and the fact I can play instruments has been integral to making my music today, but more than that I want people to recognize that I’m a great rapper,” he said. “When you hear rap you know immediately if it’s good or bad – there is no middle ground. I have always loved English, and when you have a good understanding of the English language and broaden your vocabulary you can get away from those easy rhymes and it opens Pandora ’s Box for you. When people hear my music, they’ll know that it’s good and relatable and that I’m a one-of-a-kind musician who knows how to pair good beats with good lyrics and deliver high-quality music.”

In advance of his release of “Ten Commandments,” Ethos has dropped the two demo singles, “Adultery” and “Idolatry”.  Ethos release demo tracks from the entire CD as they’re written so that when the album is released, people will get to have almost a brand new experience with the songs they’ve become attached to.

Louis Heaton – Ring Around

Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo

Upcoming album ‘Polemic’ combines Louis Heaton’s unique sound with deep well of hip-hop knowledge

BROOKLYN, NY – When it comes to Louis Heaton’s music, there’s nothing off limits. His no-holds-barred approach is something he’s banked his music career on for nearly two decades, and it’s that unique blend of passion and perfection that has made him a hit with so many fans over the years.

Those fans are in for a treat with his new album, “Polemic,” which is set to drop sometime this summer. The 13 tracks on the project showcase Heaton’s amazing lyricism and musical substance – something he said is sorely lacking in a lot of today’s song selections. But with years of knowledge and experience deep within the culture of hip-hop, Heaton said he’s seen the ups and downs and has a body of work that he brings to bear with this album in ways that will influence and educate people all over the world.

“I just want a no-holds-barred type of approach because I can address any topic and talk about anything,” he said. “I make good music filled with any kind of substantial content you can think of. I can make a good love song, or a good political song, or a good club song. I can’t be placed in a box, and I’m not afraid to start drama.”

A great example of that approach can be found with the single “Trap Music NYC.” It is a diss track to all New Yorkers who make trap music. Heaton said they are the only ones who lost their original sound just because they are no longer #1.

He said while living in California for eight years, he was being bombarded with music executive after music executive insisting that certain regions – such as the West Coast – should always sound like specific things. Trap music, for instance, is a unique sound from Atlanta that many people have told him only belongs in a deep-South type of vibe and he agrees. But with “Trap Music NYC,” Heaton is attempting to reinvigorate his New York City peers and break past those pre-conceived notions and introduce something new and exciting.

Other hot singles from the album include “Ring Around,” which is a statement piece that explores who Heaton is as an artist, and “Get High,” which is made specifically for the cannabis community and will drop on 4/20. “Get High” features notorious rapper Ruste Juxx, who has been established with Boot Camp Clik and helped Heltah Skeltah.

In addition to his music, Heaton is also an entrepreneur and entertainment businessman. He founded a company called Underverse LLC, which offers a full line of apparel – including shirts, hoodies, sweat suits and more – and offers mentorship opportunities for up-and-coming young artists.

“There’s this thing in a lot of places in New York where if you’re a new artist you have to pay to play,” Heaton said. “We don’t charge artists to perform at our showcases. Most showcases charge artists to perform. We offer you the opportunity to join our network called UV Social with only $5/monthly fee. The whole concept of Underverse is to nurture up-and-coming artists from the underground. All the music from there is organic and pure, and we want to offer a place where those artists don’t ever have to worry about a record company watering down their versions of their songs. We give them a platform to get exposure that can hopefully lead to a recording deal.”

Heaton said he’s glad to use the bachelor’s degree in music business that he got from Five Towns College and combine that with his years of experience that have given him an inside education on all things having to do with the entertainment industry.
