Collin Terrel – F*ck Today

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Collin Terrel is 100% honest in new album The Gist of It

INGLEWOOD, CA – Pursuing a PHD in Media Studies and a career as an artist is more than a full time job, but this Rapper is defying the odds. Collin Terrel is speaking the truth and sharing his abundance of unique experiences with the world in his latest project, an album titled The Gist of It. This project takes you through all of the reasons that Terrel is following the path that he’s on, with insightful lyricism and a unique and extremely relevant perspective.

The Gist of It delves into important topics ranging from how socio-economic systems have affected Terrel as he grew from a child in a less than ideal situation to an adult pursuing a Doctorate degree, to the importance of self care in a hyper-’woke’ society, all the way to the way we survive in this world. His music fits people of all walks of life in some way or another, truly bringing people together across communities. Terrel truly did an amazing job with creating each and every one of the songs on this album.

One of the most relevant and conceptually important songs in this project is “Fuck Today”. This track, the lead single on the album, is about taking the time to take care of yourself and not worry about all of the politics and problems in the world. “Everyone uses the word ‘woke’ when they talk about being aware of the things around them, but when you’re ‘woke’ all the time, you’re not getting any sleep. Sometimes I end up exhausted.” “Fuck Today” is Robinson’s way of picturing a day where he can just relax and not deal with the stress that comes from being ‘woke’ all of the time. In the world we all live in today, this is something that so many  struggle with and that we can all take notes on.

Another noteworthy track on this album that focuses on self care is “Lunch and Recess”. This track goes back to the basics — things we’ve all known since childhood. “This song means a lot to me. These are the two parts of the day when you’re not receiving instruction as a child, but they’re still incredibly important. This is where you learn to interact with people and actually move throughout the world.” These are the times when we really learn who we are as people and develop personalities. “It’s where we learn how to eat and play the game for keeps.” Another amazing track on the album, “Lunch and Recess” is about how we exist in the world, something that virtually everyone can take something from.

The Gist of It is a project that allowed Terrel to fully express himself, with no limits or commentary from others. It is a place where we as an audience can truly see him for who he is as both a Rapper and a human being. It’s not the only project he has in the works though. He is preparing to release two videos to go along with the album and is already working on a new EP to be released in early 2022.

Be sure to check out Collin Terrel on all streaming platforms and follow him on social media to keep up with the new music and other projects that he has in store. Links to all of these things can be found listed below.

Lil Slanderous – Vick

Music, Promo, Videos

Lil Slanderous puts unique spin on popular sounds with new EP ‘SlanderVill3’

WICHITA FALLS, TX – It’s OK to push boundaries. It’s OK to get out of your comfort zone and try different things. And if you don’t take a chance an invest in yourself, no one else will.

Those are the sentiments that new hip-hop artist Lil Slanderous is bringing to the game with his new blend of music. Offering a unique sound and style that does exactly as he preaches, this boundary-breaking young artist is creating quite a buzz throughout the Deep South with his artist offerings. His latest EP, “SlanderVill3,” is the kind of project destined to put him on the global stage, and his hit single “Vick” is already paving the way for that super-stardom.

Featuring braggadocios and fun lyrics, the song features a bevy of witty wordplay and double entendres against a rhythm and groove that feels inspired by legends like Ghost Face Killer or XXXTentacion. Spurred by his love of football and sports, the song uses former NFL legend Michael Vick as a metaphor for greatness.

“It’s really just kind of bragging and having fun,” Lil Slanderous said of the single. “There’s a lot of back-and-forth with me and Type-One, who’s featured on the track. We just play off each others’ verses and explore the idea that sometimes you don’t always have to be humble. Sometimes you can let people know what you can do and what you got.”

The single is one that sets the stage for the entire EP, which is also fun and upbeat and plays off the influences of Texas artists like UGK and Screwed Up Click. It’s also a project that takes a cue from artists like The Alchemist and Madlib. Like “Vick,” there are a lot of braggadocios-type raps, as well as great vibes perfect for hanging with friends or cruising around town.

“This is the type of music you listen to when you want to catch a vibe,” Lil Slanderous said. “It’s really smooth lyrics and great delivery and great mixing. You will love riding to this. It’s like Currency mixed with some Pimp C a little bit, and all Lil Slanderous. I like to put a spin on my own verbiage – my own type of slang. And I like to take different styles and make them my own. The result with this EP is a kind of late-night-pimp’s riding music. It’s something to feel good to and ride to. And if you smoke, you can enjoy this, as well. Or if you’re at a party and it’s time to wind down, this is the perfect thing to turn on and ride on out.”

Lil Slanderous said he has plenty more music in the works and plans to release more music in the coming months. Until then, fans can check out his music, or follow him on social media, by visiting the following links:

Jamaul II and 2Koldd – TRACK 2

Blog, Industry Spotlight, ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Best friends continue impressive artistic output with new hit single ‘Track 2’

MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST – Two hip-hop artists from the South have put their many years of camaraderie and collaboration together to create a hot new track that’s sure to create major buzz all across the U.S. “Track 2” is a head-nodding banger with a bouncy vibe and a Trap twist that perfectly represents the impressive artistry of Jamaul II and 2Koldd. It’s a song that you can’t help but bop your head to, with fun lyrics that are infinitely repeatable and a groove that will make you want to move your body. It’s a Trappy song with a dark feel, but the upbeat energy offers a fun bump that audiences all over the world will soon be enjoying.

“Everything we’re saying in this song makes you want to get after it,” 2Koldd said. “It’s an upbeat type song, even though the video is a little dark. When you hear it, it makes you want to do something – get active with it and go workout in a gym or something. We think it’s something cool and relatable for the masses.”

“Track 2” is the latest from this hip-hop duo that has been performing together for more than 15 years. They first met in fourth grade and soon developed a friendship that shared a mutual passion for music. Their individual talents played perfectly together from the very beginning – with Jamaul II offering an introspective, moody vibe; and 2Koldd bringing an edginess to his lyrical mastery. Together they’ve been creating impressive singles year after year, and with “Track 2” they’re hoping to introduce their sound to an even bigger audience.

Jamaul II was born in San Diego but spent most of his youth in New Orleans. That vast cultural and geographical influence directly shaped his sound and style. Music has been the most important part of his life, he said, and through his music he’s been able to relate with a lot of people over the years. Most people would describe him as a cool and down-to-earth guy with a smooth and mysterious demeanor. Those characteristics shine through his music, and have made him a fan favorite throughout the South.

2Koldd was born in Atlanta and has lived in the small town of Moss Point, Mississippi for most of his life. His parents were friends with Jamaul’s parents, and that’s how the two of them met. Similarly to his friend, 2Koldd fell in love with music at an early age while listening to Jazz, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Funk music. His uncle was the band director at the high school they both attended, and they both developed their skills while learning to play various instruments.

“Music is the most powerful tool in the universe,” 2Koldd said. “I love to listen to it. I love to produce it. And I love to record it. I am music. And I want our music to help people – for them to be able to listen to it and feel good.”

“I agree with that,” Jamaul II said. “I hope people can turn on one of our songs and it will lift them out of a depressing moment. That’s what music has done for me. I remember a personal moment for me when I was very depressed and I listened to Kendrick Lamar’s album and it transported me to another dimension. I felt everything he was saying. We want to be able to do that for others.”

Jamaul II and 2Koldd said they have another music video ready to drop very soon called “Icy, as well as a new single called “OT” that they hope to release in the next month. To listen to their music, or to follow them on social media, please visit the following links:

Silence – Summertime

ME Blog, Music, Promo, Videos

Derek Baily most known as “Silence” was born in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Silence was given his name at an early age for being quiet and shy, but the name stuck has he got older and into trouble as he was known as someone who would react without being noticed. After turning his life around the name stayed but became more of a positive nickname in his life, now showing positive actions in “silence”.

His love of music started when he was younger but never turned into anything until the Summer of 2018 when he met Executive A&R Andre Williams. He started working under him as his Jr. A&R and learn the music business helping with different projects and artists.

It was in 2020 when he decided to take the business and use it for himself turning his love of writing into artistry.

When you ask him where his music comes from, he will sheepishly tell you it’s from the life and struggles of the pain he’s dealt with watching his sister die to his mother not being able to take care of him since the age of 12 due to a prescription drug habit. Being homeless since the age of 12 he’s relied on street smarts, his personality, and ability to adapt to turn him into the person he is today, and the artist we see now. His fun-loving humor, to his bold statements of survival as “the white kid” on the streets bouncing back and forth from St. Louis to Iowa, Silence is not so silent now after all.

He just released his newest single over the summer “Summertime” featuring Iowa/Atlanta artist EMDUBAI and it was also Executive Produced/A&R by DJ K Yung. He is sent to do a joint project with Cedar Rapids IA artist Tone da Boss set to release in October of 2021.

Scott Morris looks to take his passion for artistry and event planning to different levels

Videos

As he ate his morning breakfast and flipped through TV channels, Scott Morris was unprepared for the revelation he would soon experience. As the Backstreet Boys sent shockwaves through his ears and eyes, he was captivated by their performance and the love the group received from fans in the crowd. Scott was immediately drawn to the limelight, yearning to become a huge asset to the entertainment business. Growing up in church and witnessing his father’s love for reggae music also had a large impact on him during his childhood.

Scott recalls listening to “Many Men” by 50 cent in the 5th grade. This was his initial introduction to hip hop. It wasn’t until high school, however, that hip hop took over his life. Listening to 50 Cent, Drake, and Lil Wayne was part of his daily routine in addition to religiously watching the famous “106 & Park”. As Scott’s passion for music grew so did his curiosity about the business aspect of the industry. The future mogul went on to attend John Jay College in New York where he became a member of the campus activities board. Scott became the leader of the pack, responsible for organizing special events such as, parties and shows.

It was after Scott had the opportunity to host a talent show with the radio club that Marlon Daniels reached out to him interested in teaching him the ropes. Teaming up with Marlon proved to be a great move as Scott learned how to book talent and organize fashion shows. Scott’s wheels began to turn as he knew there was more in store for him. As he developed the
blueprint for “The Deans List Tour”, over 250 people signed up to audition. The first year of the tour was an amazing success and put Scott on the map as the go-to resource for artists. The second year pulled in over 400 people to audition. The tour consisted of 16 colleges and three high schools such as, Ohio University, UConn, NYU, StonyBrook, and Howard University, to name a few. After year 3, Scott had built relationships, not only with artists far and wide, but also industry executives. It was clear that he had an eye for talent and had the ability to form a core team that would bring his vision to the next level.

Not only did Scott create “The Dean’s List Tour” but he also organized the “No Boys Allowed Tour” in which shined light on female talent and focused on women empowerment. The birth of Mor.bookings Agency occurred after the success of the tour. He was adamant about providing artists with other opportunities if they were unable to be an addition to the “Dean’s List Tour”. As he climbed the ladder as an event guru, his schedule became filled. It was during this time that Scott was fired from both of his jobs. Scott and his team immediately created a way to enhance the budget for the company. The “Toast to Life” party assisted him in generating funds along with open mics that eventually transitioned into show cases.

Daze Summit, a prominent and successful music festival, was developed as a result of a dream Scott Morris had. After his experience at SXSW, he was determined to create a platform that New York could call its own. Daze Summit is now one of the most sought after festivals in the New York area. Scott is passionate about placing talented creatives in the forefront while also utilizing his platform to educate and inspire those who are looking to pursue a plethora of different careers. Furthermore, Daze Summit has granted 12 scholarships to students throughout the years.

Scott Morris has worked on projects with artists such as, Dababy, Lil Tecca, and Mulatto, to name a few. His reputation and roster of accolades continues to increase as he develops, curates, and hosts more events. He is knowledgeable, determined, and passionate about the entertainment business and strives to be the next Diddy. The sky is the limit for this unique and strong willed entrepreneur. Be sure to follow him for the remainder of his journey.

[Video] Mr MooQ ‘Retro Girl’ | @mr_mooq

Videos

Mr. MooQ, an artist that has been shrouded in a mysterious persona, sometimes an enigma, more times a witty and vibrant living commentary on musicx taking a direction of curious infamy, has released a new video.

His latest creation Retro Girl has only been available to view on his YouTube channel, and on streaming platforms for a short time, and it has already garnered the attention of the Independent music scene and is the talk of the trade.

Retro Girl is a romantic song that takes you into his heart, to see his love as she was, and freezes that image in time, forever young and beautiful, to dance and love as one for all eternity.

In consideration, I would place Mr. MooQ in the same musical realms of his contemporary artists, the late Warren Zevon and the prolific Randy Newman. Both mentioned artist are known for their works including pays on words, creative analogues and taking music and prose to create audio paintings that morph into mental images that entertain and inspire.

This latest track is the first since the release of his last song titled “No One”, which listed as the top track in the much respected Digital Radio Tracker chart for the Top 150 Independent Airplay Chart for Independent Music released this season.

While presently listing favorably in the Global Top 200 chart simultaneously, it is no surprise that given his musical talent and pedigree of experience, the amazing and mysterious Mr. MooQ shows his fans old and new a brighter side of melodic bliss and continues to traverse the edge of creativity.

Mr. MooQ writes and produces music alive with “feeling.” His thought-provoking lyrics are sung with a different spin, combining beautiful melodies with powerful grooves. Though the beats may change and the production will vary, every song tells a story and is written from the heart.

For as long as he can remember, Mr. MooQ has always felt a passion and a flair for the creativity of music coursing through his soul. No matter the day’s activities and distractions it seemed music was ever present with melodies and lyrics in his thought processes. So it was natural for him as he grew older to explore how he could incorporate music more fully into his life.

As an award winning musical artist and performer, he has enjoyed the accolades of success, including a Cleo in the advertising industry and developing music for numerous industries and commercial productions. He became sought out for his production talents, but still stove for perfecting his personal genre and style.

Mr. MooQ has refined his musical sound into a hybrid genre that he refers to as EDM-Lite/Synth/Pop, evolving it to the next level. Calling upon his life experiences, this new music reflects on life’s intricacies and nuances combining thoughtful and witty lyrics with catchy melodies that often are very ‘danceable’, but also thought provoking.

Check out Mr. MooQ’s latest musical efforts. You might just find that musical voice for which you have been looking.
